Good HDMI splitter if this fits your needs

I actually picked this up, thinking it was a way to get 2 HDMI devices (xbox, playstation, roku, etc) into 1 HDMI port on the back of my tv. Space is so limited that an automatic switch for HDMI would be helpful. But, I didn’t fully read I guess and this is exactly the OPPOSITE function. This takes ONE HDMI signal (i.e TV, Roku, laptop, blu ray, etc.), and projects it out into 2 sources. This is different than say taking your laptop screen and projecting it onto 2 different monitors, effectively making the 2 monitors 1 large display. This takes your source image and just projects the same thing to 2 monitors or whatever 2 sources you pick. In the box you have the HDMI splitter, a usb c to usb power cord, a usb power block for a wall outlet, and a few instruction manuals. It also includes 2 self adhesive strips if you wish to mount this on a wall or the back of a device. For my example I was able to take my Roku Ultra player, and connect it to two 24” tvs. The Insignia 2 output HDMI splitter worked flawlessly. The back of the box has an “input” spot which I connected the Roku HDMI cord. And then I was able to run 2 additional HDMI cords into the “output” spots marked on the back of the splitter and run those cords to the back of the 2 tvs. As long as you have everything plugged in and powered on, you are good to go. The Insignia splitter was able to simulate the image and sound perfectly on both devices without any lag or diminishing sound quality. Now while this worked, in my opinion it had limited uses. In what case would you need the same picture on multiple devices? I guess if you were giving a presentation in a room that had multiple screens you could use this, or if you had a camera feed from your home security and you wanted to have it show up on multiple screens throughout your place, although you would have to have some long HDMI cords. So while I’m sure this has its uses, it just seems limited to me.

Two Displays for the Price Of One HDMI Splitter

There’s not a lot to say about the Insignia 2-Output HDMI Splitter, if you set it up correctly it will work. There’s no switch on the unit to swap outputs back and forth, it just displays your source on two different outputs. In the box is the splitter, a 6 foot USB-A to USB-C cable, an AC Adapter, and a minimal instruction/”legalese” pamphlet. On the splitter you have a red LED on the front and on the back is the Source HDMI port, two output HDMI ports, and the USB-C power input. You can mount the splitter unit on a wall or cabinet with two pieces of enclosed 3M Double sided tape strips or there’s mounting slots but no hardware is enclosed so you’ll need to provide your own. Once I had it setup the PC was able to output to both monitors at once, which was neat and I could see this being handy for a presentation in class or at work perhaps. I don’t see much practicality in a home setting though, perhaps if you wanted to play split screen games on two separate TVs. There’s nothing much else to say about it, if you set it up correctly then it just works. I kind of feel like it should have a switch to swap from one output to another but its a minor quibble honestly.

Having an HDMI splitter is something most people will need at one point or another. For those with some older TVs, they generally will only have 1-3 HDMI ports and those can fill up really quickly. If you have a DVD/Blu-Ray player, gaming console or streaming device, that can chew up all those ports, and more, really quickly. While there are many splitters out there, you're pretty much fine with picking any one and you should be fine. The one thing you probably want to pay attention to is the number of splitters/ports, your switch can handle as well as what resolution the splitter can handle. Included in the package is the splitter box, USB-A to USB-C power cable and USB wall adapter as well as a couple double sided tape pieces should you opt to hang/mount this somewhere. Pretty clean looking. The front just has a LED to show if the unit is powered on and the cable connect in the rear of the unit. There are mounting studs on the bottom of the unit which gives you another mounting option aside from the double sided tape. I have my unit hooked up to my TV at the 1 position on my HDMI ports. I use this port for both my AppleTV and Playstation so I can simply swap between the two whenever without taking up an additional port.

Insignia has made an easy to use, small, basic HDMI splitter for dual outputs. If what you want is to display a cable box, Roku, Chromecast, Fire Stick, Playstation, Xbox, Switch, PC, Laptop or other HDMI input, you can output that device to two external TVs or monitors. In the box you get the splitter, USBA to USBC power cable, USB power brick, and double sided sticky tape to mount the splitter device anywhere you find convenient. The device itself also has mounting holes if you would like to mount the device more permanently. I already have plans to have my next fight night for MMA or even boxing matches shown from my Google Chromecast device. I would have a projector displaying in 1080p to the outside and then display a second output to my 4k television on the inside. Watching the upcoming FIFA World cup with a viewing party would also be an ideal situation to have this splitter. As an important note, it appears that this device will downscale per the instruction booklet that comes in the box. This device is ideal to output to a 4k device and 1080p.

I have a video surveillance system in another room of the house connected to a television, it’s installed on the other side of the wall from my kitchen. I’d like to be able to see the camera feed from the kitchen. It’s a 4K camera system so I wanted to retain the highest picture quality. I have a 4K VESA compatible computer monitor to mount on the wall in the kitchen with an HDMI input so I selected this 4K splitter. I’m using it with a 10 foot long HDMI cable routed through a cable pass thru mounted in the wall. Picture quality is excellent on both the television and the monitor. I could see where this would work great if you needed to run either a pair of projectors or pair of televisions from a PC, laptop, or streaming device at an event. Small form factor at only about 4” x 2 1/2” x 7/8” with rubber feet and a pair of keyhole slots to mount it from screws on 3” centers if you need to mount it on the back of an entertainment center or similar. Also includes two strips of double sided tape for no-drill mounting. Comes with a 6 foot long usb A to usb C cable and an AC wall adapter to power the device.

We have a small office at home and there we work, the kids do homework and use it also as entertainment because we have a computer and a TV and this Splitter helped out a lot. The splitter arrived in a small box, with the splitter, its power cable the charger, 2 sided tape and instructions. It is easy to connect, we used the computer output to the splitter, and the output from the splitter to the monitor and the TV so it duplicates what we see on the monitor to the TV. This helps out for the entire family, when the kids are doing their homework, we can keep an eye so they are not distracted with anything else. When we spend time together, we can watch a movie or show that streams from the computer on to the TV since it is not a smart TV. The splitter can also be used with the laptop with an external monitor or TV for easy viewing, either way; it has helped out to have multiple screens show what we want. Easy setup, easy to use and all I needed are the HDMI cables to connect to the splitter.

NO HDMI 2.1, NO VRR Support...

Buyers Beware: This does NOT include HDMI 2.1, so if your monitor or TV has VRR, it will NOT work with this audio extractor. My Alienware monitor was hooked up to my PS5 Pro, but said VRR was not available. At first I thought it was my HDMI cable was not compatible, but nope .. swapped out this audio extractor with one from Amazon, VRR now works perfectly. No clue why you would only include HDMI 2.0 on a brand new device in 2025. Makes zero sense.

One HDMI Port ... No PROBLEM!

You have a problem. One laptop, two screens, and an audience. You need to display the same source on both sides of the room, but your laptop/PC only has one HDMI port. You may have two screens in the man cave or diva den and want to see your game/show from any angle. What about movie night or tailgating on multiple screens? Yep, this little splitter can handle it all. This active splitter takes a single HDMI source signal (up to 4K at 60Hz w/ HDR Pass-Through) and gives you dual identical outputs. If you need two screens to display the same content, this is a match and an excellent entry/budget option. Setup is ridiculously simple and intuitive. You will need 3 HDMI cables for this to work (not included). Plug your source into the input port, connect your two monitors to the outputs, add the power cord, and you're done. Everything fires up almost instantly once the splitter gets power and an input signal with no configuration needed. Just make sure you're using HDMI 2.0 cables to carry your HDR and 4K signals properly. Audio and video signals both come through sharp with no noticeable degradation or lag to my eye. Your favorite streaming device or gaming rigs play nice due to HDCP 2.3 compliance and HDR-compatible HDMI 2.0. Things I like: USB-C instead of Micro USB HDCP 2.3 compliant HDMI 2.0 12-bit deep full HD 4k/2k input support Auto downscaling 4k to 1080p Things to know: Includes rubber tape for desk mounting Holes on the back for wall mounting Light and portable, so it easily moves around with little resistance No downscaling to 2K, 720, or 480p No frame rate conversion (e.g., 60 to 30). No HDMI cables included Use Cases: -Gaming - split your signal for streaming or a living room audience. -Presentations - one laptop/PC, two screens in a conference room. -Security - split your NVR signal to two screens in separate rooms. -Home theater - Have movie night on two screens for larger crowds. Whether you are a business person, teacher, gamer, or casual user, you will appreciate the simplicity and functionality and no-nonsense functionality. It splits a signal without compromising quality. Just remember to grab some HDMI cables. The box only comes with the 1-amp power block, 6ft USB-C cable, and the splitter itself. If any of these scenarios fit you, this is a buy and highly recommended.

Sometimes life is about the little things. I have a Denon AV home theater receiver along with a TV and Projector. I have a 4k A/B HDMI switch. I never really cared that I had to hit the A/B button manually to switch between the two display options, I had to raise or lower the projector screen anyways if I was going to switch. However often it wouldn’t work correctly. I had to turn off the receiver, make sure the new display was on (in the case of the projector on and warmed up) and then hit the switch. If I went out of order I would have to turn everything off and then back on with the display then receiver. I had that switch for years and just dealt with the occasional minor frustration. Enter my new Insignia HDMI splitter, a wonderful upgrade. First off, it’s all automatic. There is no button to hit. If it were just that I would have been happy, but there is more! If I turn on the TV or projector, the receiver now knows to turn on automatically. I can even play both at the same time, not that I would want to as my projector screen drops down over the TV. But there are certainly other set-ups where this feature would be great. The quality of the video and audio are as fantastic as ever as well. Just to test things after I got it working I removed the switch and ran each display direct since I hadn’t done that in a long time just to make sure there was no noticeably drop in anything and there was not. I have been using this switch for probably a couple weeks now and I still smile each evening when I turn on my TV or projector and everything just works as it should. I give this splitter a solid 5* review and if I knew someone looking for an item like this I would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

Right off the bat, I want to establish the difference between a HDMI splitter, HDMI switch, and even a multi-monitor adapter as they can be shaped similarly but serve different purposes. A HDMI switch allows you to switch HDMI inputs without plugging and unplugging. It essentially allows you to switch between multiple HDMI sources while having one display. This might be best if you have multiple consoles for one TV and you don't want to keep unplugging and plugging them. A multi-monitor adapter will allow one HDMI input to extend to multiple displays but it will not be mirrored. You might have seen computers with multiple monitors. A HDMI splitter takes one HDMI input and duplicates the signal to multiple displays. This will be mirrored content and the same content will show on two displays. The Insignia HDMI 2-output splitter is just that. This was just what I needed to finish up my setup. I have a TV in the living room and then another one in the backyard. This is a first world problem, but I always wanted to have a setup where you could watch movies together in both areas. With this, I can mirror the content and problem solved. The Insignia HDMI 2-output splitter is a powered one so as far as I can tell, there is no signal degradation. All in all, if you have a specific setup in mind where you need mirrored content in two spaces, then the Insignia HDMI 2-output splitter is a good one.

Sometimes, one video output device, such as a tv or projector, is not enough! At times, people may want to send one video source to two different devices, such as a tv and a projector, at the same time! That is where the Insignia 2-output splitter comes to the rescue. It is a very simple device. It is lightweight, as it seems to be constructed out of plastic. It does not appear to be weather resistant so I would keep this one away from moisture. On the back side of the device it has one HDMI input, two HDMI outputs, and one USB-C connection for powering the device. It puts out a stunning 4k picture quality at 60hz. The included USB-C cable is 6 feet long and attaches to an included AC adapter. That should give you plenty of cable length to place the splitter wherever you want it. The box also includes two 3M double sided tape strips that allow you to mound the device to a wall or the back of a tv. If you prefer to mound the device using nails or screws, the underside of the device has two mounting holes. You will have to provide your own screws or nails because none come in the box with the splitter device. The device is pretty much plug and play. Plug it the power. Plug in the input source. Plug in two output sources. After that, you are on your way!

This is a great way to split your video output from your TV to your Playstation 5 (Or any other gaming device with an HDMI) and easily split out the signal from a Windows PC to another monitor or projector. I installed this in my RV to output the TV to a projector to use outside and it works great but I will be taking this to use in my house because it’s just so useful. It is USB-C, and it actually comes with the wall adapter as well as the USB-C cable. Not very common these days as I just bought a smart light that didn’t come with the AC plug - you were expected to supply that. I will be happy when that fad passes. This kit is very basic and it is super lightweight but it doesn’t feel cheap. The plastic used is sturdy enough to handle the heat that the unit will generate over time. It comes with two 3M adhesive pads to anchor it to your television or stand. This unit can do 4K resolution at 60 Hz, which is not bad at all. It would be a great addition to output video for any family event, wedding, haunted house attraction…you name it. Highly recommended.
