I’ve been using Apple AirTags for a while, and recently picked up a few more to attach to my car keys and my kids’ backpacks. I was pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly these work with Apple devices—no setup hassles, everything just connects instantly. For the price, the performance and reliability are honestly impressive. The tracking is accurate, the notifications are helpful, and the peace of mind it gives me is worth every penny. Overall, I’ve been extremely satisfied with these and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an affordable and dependable tracking solution.

These are better than Apple AirTags. These come with keychain rings and the batteries are replaceable. These easily pair with Find My device and also emit sounds just like Apple’s AirTags. Best of all they are much more affordable.

Inexpensive, Effective Option to Locate Your Items

The Insignia Find My Tags provide an effective alternative to AirTags with some nice design advantages and at a cost about one quarter of the hefty price of those AirTags. You will learn to love them!
Insignia is owned by Best Buy. It produces a broad line of consumer electronics products which have good quality and modest prices. Here is their mission statement: “We believe electronics should be dependable, affordable and easy to use. That’s why Insignia products are designed and tested to meet high standards of quality and functionality. Each product is built to last and designed with the user in mind. The result is exceptional quality at a very reasonable price.”
Here are the key features of these locator tags:
• Insignia Locator Tags (4 pack) (Model: NS-TAG4PK)
• Compatible with all iPhones and iPads using iOS 14.5 or newer, Macs using macOS 12.5 or newer
• Requires Apple Find My app
• Durable white plastic construction
• Built-in slot for key ring, included metal ring
• Powered by replaceable CR2032 battery
• Bluetooth 5.1
• Maximum wireless range: 164 feet outdoors, 65 feet indoors
• Audible alert
• No GPS function
• Lightweight: 0.3 ounces
• 1.34 inches in diameter. 0.33 inches thick
• One year warranty on parts and labor
• Made in Vietnam
The Insignia Locator Tag box includes four white plastic tags, four metal key rings that can be inserted into the slot built into the locator tag body and a quick setup guide. The four locator tags all include an installed CR2032 with a protective plastic guard over the battery. The tags are the familiar Apple Alpine White color and are UV-resistant to combat yellowing to retain their attractive appearance for many years.
Setting up the Locator Tags is very easy. Just pull the protective plastic tag to activate the battery. Open the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Tap Items, then Add Other Items, then Connect when Insignia Tag appears. Give the tag a unique name, choose an emoji to represent the tag on your app’s map, then tab Continue and Agree. Attach the tag to the item you wish to find. Your tag is now active and the item can be located using the Find My app.
If you subsequently decide to rename the tag or alter the emoji associated with it, the locator tag has a reset button which can be used in conjunction with the Find My app to make those changes. No one else can reassign the tag without access to your iPhone because the Find My app assigns it exclusively to your Apple ID.
Once the locator tag is linked to your iPhone or iPad the Find My app maintains a record of where the locator was last detected. You can leave your tagged item anywhere and you will see its location on the Find My app map. If the item is moved it will show up on the Find My app if another iPhone comes into proximity to the tag. The tag’s new location will then be detected and forwarded through the Find My network. Then your Find My app’s map will show you the new location.
I checked the range of the Bluetooth transmitter built into the tag and the provided estimates (65 feet indoors and 164 feet outdoors) are pretty accurate. The Bluetooth range is significant for purposes of activating the beeper built into the tag. The map will give you the approximate location and then the beeper will guide you to the item.
The Insignia Locator Tag has one minor limitation in that is does not have “GPS” function, unlike the Apple Air Tag. That Air Tag feature allows more rapid and precise location detection but the Insignia Locator Tag approximates this function. The tracking for lost items which are moving (for example, a tagged pet who has run away) is a bit sporadic. The item will jump from one location on the Find My app map to another as the tag comes into proximity with an iPhone. However, the odds are pretty good that you will be able to quickly find your lost item.
The tags function best if you have a static item (e.g., lost keys in your home) and for many purposes, this is sufficient. For moving items (like a pet or a stolen bike) detection of the new location is dependent upon the number of iPhones in its vicinity. But these locator tags should enable you to find it eventually.
I put one tag on my puppy’s collar. It was so lightweight that she didn’t even notice it. Another tag went onto a set of storage locker keys that I typically don’t carry with me and used to spend half an hour looking for. I hid a third tag in my car to help recover it in the event that it is ever stolen. As a test I loaned my car to a friend who needed to go on a quick trip out-of-state. I was able to follow the car’s progress very closely on the 400+ mile trip and the Find My map showed every stop the car made.
Advantages? The Insignia Locator Tags are very inexpensive compared to Apple AirTags (about one-quarter the cost). The built-in slot is an improvement over the design of the Apple AirTag and make connecting them to your items very easy. You can use the provided key ring or use a twist-tie through the slot. Finally, changing the CR2032 battery may be a bit easier with the Insignia Locator Tags than with the Air Tag. There is a slot on the device which is supposed to allow you to open it with a coin. However, I tried to do so and could not get the tag body to open. (Maybe I was using the wrong size coin.)
I was a bit skeptical at first about the effectiveness of these locator tags but after a bit of a learning curve I was completely persuaded that these are a great product. I really like these little guys and can think of many other uses (bikes, backpacks, luggage, tool box, etc.) so I bought two more sets of these bargain devices. Now I have a dozen for less than the cost of just four Apple AirTags.
I can happily recommend these Insignia Locator Tags and I give them a full five stars!

Great alternative to an AirTag

I’ve been using Apple AirTags ever since they came out and they have saved me time and money so far and also the inconvenience of having to go back to where I left the item at. These Insignia Tags look like the AirTags but a bit bigger. Has a built-in loop for key rings and comes with small key rings.
Easy to setup with iPhone. Easier access to the battery, can be opened with a coin. AirTags battery covers were cumbersome to remove and re-install. There is physical reset button which can either be a pro or a con depending on user preference. The AirTag reset procedure is ridiculous but I don’t like the convenience of a reset button on these Insignia Tags.
AirTags plays sound three times while the Insignia Tags plays sound 5 times. Gives you a bit more time to hone in on it before having to play the sound again. The Insignia tag sound is a tiny bit louder too in my opinion.
The Insignia Tag shares the same features as the AirTag but for a quarter of the price and so far, it works just the same.

This was quick to set up and start using right away. Once I pulled off the clear tag and went to add it as a new item in FindMy with my iPad, it connected right away. Connecting the other 3 were just as simple and quick. The little rings it comes with makes it convenient to use on many items. It works great with the iPad and iPhone. At first, I was nervous because they didn’t show up on Devices where I usually see other items but they all do show up under Items category on the Ipad. And I could easily track them. My only surprise was that I also use iCloud on my laptop, it’s a Windows laptop not a Apple Mac. But when using FindMy on the laptop, it doesn’t show the locator tags at all, it seems it only shows my specific Apple products. So as long as you have access to the iPhone/iPad it should be fine.
This is a great product and I think I will order another pack. Our family travels alot by plane and bus. The last time my mother traveled by Greyhound, her luggage had disappeared and no where to be found. So she was very happy to have this with her luggage and we could track it as she traveled to a different state. That peace of mind is more than worth.

Insignia Locator Tags

The Insignia Tags 4 pack is a great option when you are looking for locator tags that are affordable. You get four of them for even less than one of the other types that are available. These only work with Apple products so keep that in mind. Setting up was incredibly easy. All I had to do was pull the little plastic tab out, push the little button, you will hear a chirp, and then follow the steps to set up on your through Find My. Connected and good to go!
I intend to use these in my purse and luggage – and since there are 4 of them, I can share the rest with my family of Apple users. You can set each one to have a different emoji, kind of like a naming convention so you know which one you are looking at when you are in the app.
Overall, I see these as super handy to have, and the price point is spot on. These don’t have a super long range though, so that is something to keep in mind. These are great to have around the house, and near your phone but long distance is not the target for these per the specs you can go up to164 feet.

Smart Tracking Without the Premium Price

The Insignia Locator Tag is a simple, affordable Bluetooth (5.1) tracker that works seamlessly with Apple’s Find My app. Setup is easy—just pair it from your iPhone/iPad by manually adding it using "add other item" option on the find my device app, name your item, and you’re ready to track. The compact, lightweight design is great for keys, wallets, luggage or backpacks. It uses Bluetooth 5.1 to communicate with nearby Apple devices and automatically syncs to Apple’s crowd-sourced Find My network for tracking outside Bluetooth range and works well for short- to mid-range tracking. The built-in buzzer is loud enough to locate nearby items, though it lacks Ultra Wideband (UWB) precision found in the premium price tags. It's not water resistance and doesn't include directional guidance, but at one third the price of a premium tracker, it delivers great value for everyday tracking.
Key Benefits:
• Works with Apple Find My network — no extra app needed
• Easy setup and quick item registration
• Replaceable CR2032 battery with 1-year life
• Reliable Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity
• One-third the cost of premium trackers
• Good coverage and reliability for short range tracking
• Audible tone loud enough to locate keys around the house

The Insignia locator tag works fine for nearby tracking and is easy to set up. But it doesn’t show live location when the item is far away — it only updates the last known spot. That’s the one downside. Otherwise, it’s a solid and affordable tracker for basic use.

These work just as well as Airtags at just a fraction of the price. Setup was easy in the FindMy app and actually finding where they were located based on a simple test worked well. Save your money on the Apple ones and get these.

Setup was easy through iOS “Find My” much like AirTag. Definitely works well and can constantly track or play audible sound when within distance. Heard that it doesn’t have real time accuracy with the actual AirTag but it’s less than half the price. And from what I see the design allows you to change the battery which is a total plus with all these one use personal tracker devices!

This Insignia Locator Tag is a fantastic value. I was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly easy it was to set up. It connected to my iPhone in less than a minute, integrating perfectly and seamlessly with the native Apple "Find My" app—no extra software needed. It works just like an Apple-branded product, showing up under the "Items" tab right away. For anyone in the Apple ecosystem, this is a reliable and affordable way to keep track of keys, bags, or anything else.

To be honest, I bought them to try them out because there were no reviews saying whether they were good, average, or bad.
And to be honest, I was surprised first by the price and quality, and how easy they were to connect.

Better than expected for not being an apple product. it's pretty cheap. cannot do precision Find like an airtag. the ring is pretty weak and the hole is too small to use a standard key ring loop.
