easy to connect a tv to an apple laptop

Then all my friends at the dorm can watch youtube, netflix, etc together rather than all skrunched around a little computer screen.

No different than using an off brand USB cable it does. Or have to have an apple logo on it.

The only downside and reason I gave it 4 stars is because the product is labeled for the Macbooks, and it is hard to find in store. The associates were a little confused when I asked but ultimately found it, and got it all working for me!
