For $79, this is a steal! WHAT IT ISN'T: a sound system that will blow the walls down. It won't, because it is not designed to. I.e., it has no subwoofer to give you those deep, booming bass sounds that vibrate the room. WHAT IT IS: a modest collection of small speakers that produce sound tuned to any of 3 pre-set settings you choose, labeled "Standard", "Theatre", and "News". Each has a different level of bass, mid-level, and treble. Pick the one you like for different types of TV programming. I bought it primarily because I have difficulty hearing the spoken word in some programs. The "News" setting is just right, because that setting boosts the mid-level sound, while decreasing the bass and treble somewhat. Mid-level is where the human voice tones are. Perfect! Very simple hookup to your TV's audio jacks. Very pleased, though not everyone will be if they want booming sound!

Used to improve the sound from std TV speakers. Very nice quality, robust sound, lively imaging. Bass extension option that improves the sound considerably.Small enough for several locations around the TV. I custom mounted mine on the bottom of the TV that's on a swivel mount, so if the TV is turned, speaker turns with it. Recommended for small bedroom to medium room listening for good listening. I have NOT used the Bluetooth feature on this device.

I didn't really know what to expect when I purchased my Insignia- Soundbar with Bluetooth. I wasnt looking for anything fancy , but when I connected the sound bar to my TV I was amazed at the booming sound that came out of it. Wasn't sure what I would get for the inexpensive price that I paid! I'm glad I made the right choice - I now watch everything using my sound bar, from the news to cartoons, it's on and giving me that quality sound that I have grown to love! Also great to use when you just want to play your music - I have it connected to my phone and viola' MUSIC!

Clear sound and great bass when watching blu Rays and playing PS4. It feels like I'm at the movies in my own home. Only down fall, was that I had to buy a digital output because my HD TV and blu ray player didn't have the audio support for cables that came with it. Overall 8 out 10.

    Nice soundbar for the price

I picked up this soundbar when Best Buy had a flash sale on it for $60. This is being used with a 29" RCA LCD TV which is in our cabin. The TV's speakers are pretty bad (as it seems with smaller TV"s) and this soundbar made a huge difference. I no longer have to crank up the volume (which adds distortion). I have the soundbar set up with the included 3.5mm cable (nice that the cables are included) and I can control the volume with the TV remote. You still have to turn the soundbar on/ off with the included remote or manually hit the button. Which isn't a big deal since the room the TV is in isn't huge. The Bluetooth works great and I was able to listen to my favorite 'morning zoo' radio program over my phone and soundbar. Like others have posted the bass isn't strong (duh, it's a small soundbar) but to me it sounds really nice for the price.

Tired of poor sound quality from inferior rear-facing speakers on flat panel TV, but with a small budget, I bought this Insignia Sound Bar. I can definitely recommend it as an excellent upgrade. Pros: simple set-up, easily accessible buttons, small foot print, 4 inputs including Bluetooth, excellent sound quality*, Bass amplification Cons: limited volume control, poor audio quality via analog input , no integration with TV volume control, distortion above ~70% volume with any input This unit was paired with a 40" Westinghouse LCD TV purchased at the same time. Size and budget needs met along with (hopefully) improved sound experience. The sales associate advised me to buy a digital optical audio cable, but I really didn't want to spend the extra money and I already had several 1/4" and RCA audio cables on hand. Took them home and set up with no problems. (Even though I am a guy with lots of experience setting up home audio/video, I read the instructions first . It helps. Trust me on this.) Connecting to TV was easy and fairly intuitive. It was a bit narrower than the TV and seemed to nestle just below the frame of the screen. So far, so good! Then I turned on both units - but TV wouldn't respond to remote. The stand was about an inch short for the soundbar to sit in front and not block the remote IR port. Moved the soundbar forward and hit the power button. Not as aesthetically pleasing and required a couple more inches of table space, but acceptable. Then (after going through TV set-up screens), I eagerly anticipated some mind-blowing sound quality. Alas, nothing. Checked cables, power, etc. - all good. Still nothing. Turned TV volume all the way up - barely audible. Pushed the soundbar volume up button 4 times - voila! Turned TV sound down - no change. Hmm. At this point, I had the units connected with a standard analog audio cable (with 1/4" headphone size jacks at both ends) which both the TV and soundbar support. But - wow was the sound unpleasant. In fact, the TV speakers sounded better. Guess the guy in BBBlue was right. So, I ordered a DAO cable from Best Buy online (since the store had closed and I'd be able to pick it up at the store on the second day). While waiting, I resolved to tough out the situation by using TV speakers. Decided to test the other inputs to see if maybe I had a bad unit. I didn't. Plugging in a small radio/CD unit via the same analog cable resulted in good sound quality. An improvement over the small bookshelf speakers - especially when adding the Bass Boost built into this Insignia Sound bar. (I doubt anyone will know this, but my wife and kids like to eat all the peanut butter cookies I buy for myself. Thanks for listening!) Even without a sub-woofer, the bass is carried well and cleanly up through 70% maximum volume - and that's enough to move small papers next to it on the table. Then came a new feature test - sound quality via Bluetooth connection. Getting the device connected to my Galaxy S5 took three attempts - either the sound bar or the phone timed out before connecting. This same thing happened with my wife's phone and both our tablets. So, be patient and keep trying when making a Bluetooth connection. Also, even when you switch input channels on the soundbar, it doesn't drop the Bluetooth connection to your device; you have to do that from the device. Most times, you have to turn off Bluetooth from the device (phone and tablet in my home) to release the soundbar. This is especially good to know if people want to use the soundbar as their Bluetooth speaker immediately after one another. Once connected, the sound quality was terrific. Tired of listening to videos on your phone? Get this sound bar and make the Bluetooth connection. Small screen, but everyone can enjoy the audio from the funny cat videos you're watching. We use it to stream audio from Pandora and online radio via our tablets. It's pretty cool. Family sing-along night - accomplished. And my teen "loves dat bass!" So, what I had determined was that the sound bar (and all my cables) were good. [And my daughter needs to reel it in a little sometimes. :)] Either the analog audio from the TV was bad or the combination was bad. I probably should have tested the analog jack on the TV by plugging it in to some speakers - but the time had passed and I got an email that my DAO cable was ready for pick-up in store. Got the DOA cable and plugged it in. Sound was SO much better. I didn't have to turn the soundbar all the way up to get audio from the TV programs. TV sounds were clear, and the sound came straight at me instead of bouncing off the wall and down the hall from the rear facing speakers on previous TV or down-facing speakers on the new one. (Thanks TV design engineers and bean-counters for saddling us with those tinny cones you call speakers. How about just taking them out altogether, dropping the price $30 so we'd be halfway to the price of this soundbar? Huh? Come on. At least think about it?) Anyway, I could have the volume lower during those chase, crash, explosion scenes of action movies - without sacrificing the experience, or wearing headphones. Previously, I kept the wife and kids from sleeping soundly. Because even at low volumes and down the hall, they could hear the movie better than I. BTW, who decided that dialog in movies should be set to a level 1/3 the average other-noise (car engine, tire screeching, explosion, evil villain laugh) sound? But I digress. Speaking of volume, the audio output of this Insignia SoundBar (yes, that's what we're really talking about here) can only be controlled from the remote for the soundbar. Adjusting the audio output of your device (except via Bluetooth) has almost no impact on the volume coming from the soundbar. And be prepared for the fact that the soundbar volume occurs in steps, not smoothly up or down. It jumps in what seems to be 5 or 8 decibel increments with each press up or down. So, if you've read this far you might think I'm an action-movie watching, peanut butter cookie eating, guy who just wanted to ramble for a while. But I promise, there's a point. I had a lot of time and I wanted to be sure you knew some things about this soundbar. You read the pros and cons above and you've endured a lot of extra thoughts. Now here's the payoff - review-wise. For an entry level audio upgrade for your home entertainment area - this is an excellent choice. I dinged it one star for it's inability to integrate with TV audio, selfish Bluetooth pairing, and volume stepping. Be sure to buy a DAO cable to connect it to your TV. Enjoy the ability to improve sound for your youtube-via-phone surfing by using the Bluetooth capability. And don't hide your cookies, just buy more.

The sound bar is great for a small room and can be connected to your phone through bluetooth. Plays very well especially if you make an optic cable connection. Comes with a remote control. Nice size and will fit almost anywhere in a bedroom. Issues include low bass, weak remote control, not good for a large room etc

I was shopping for a sound bar to use with a second tv we have in a loft area. It needed to be a little smaller as going underneath a 40" tv and I was on a budget. I tried sound bars that were hooked up at several places including Best Buy and honestly not too impressed with some of the ones in the $300 range. This one was not hooked up at Best Buy and guessing that if it were most would opt for this economical choice as opposed to the $200-$300 choices. I decided on giving this one a shot blindly after reading some good reviews. Bottom line I think the design and sound quality are excellent for the price. It suits my needs and I like the features such as the bass boost and different audio modes. The Bluetooth is pretty standard these days but a great feature nonetheless. The functionality of the remote is simple and the bar looks good hanging underneath the tv - not too large. Works great for my needs of a sound bar on a secondary tv such as bedroom or rec room. It does not come with an optical cable but honestly would rather just buy my own so get quality and length I need. Would have been nice had they included a couple wall anchors and screws with the hanging template.

Both my husband and I wear hearing aids, and I, in particular, had difficulty understanding voices, especially news broadcasts. I decided to try to get some auxillary speakers. The nice salesperson said a soundbar would do the trick. I bought this one because it was the east expensive (!) and I knew would fit our 36" flat screen tv. I was able to set it up myself and get it working the first try! And I am a very senior lady with arthritic fingers. Sound is very good. Only complaint the remote is rather chinzy. It works well, but when mute is on there is no icon showing, also the remote is very small. And, of course, it is one more remote we need to operate the tv. I would definitely recommend this product.

I found this in the open box section at about 2/3 price of new. It was missing power cord and remote. Best Buy manager found both for me and I bought it. Very helpful store manager. It connected easily to my Dish blue tooth. Now no cords and my wife can play music from Dish all day long without the TV on. With the TV on, it projects the sound forward (ugg - I hate TV speakers. The wall behind them hears really well) :) Anyway, it is better sound than my TV and really works well. Obviously it is not a audiophile's delight, but good for the average listener, especially for the money - even at full price.

This is an excellent little soundbar for the customer just looking to boost the sound quality of their flat panel. Pros: 1.) Price to value is good proportion. 2.) Bluetooth capable - yep this little guy can be paired with your phone or tablet to play virtually any music or other sound sources from said device. 3.) Option to add a subwoofer later! - This is a REALLY cool feature in that, you can save money now if you don't want the booming bass of a subwoofer but you can still add one later if you decide to rearrange your setup. (Note: If you DO want a subwoofer now you should check out the NS-SB515 [ http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-2-1-channel-soundbar-with-wireless-subwoofer-black/8645012.p?id=1219697991194&skuId=8645012 ] <- Not only does this one come with a wireless sub, it sounds AMAZING when compared to other bars $200-300 more expensive!! 4.) Connectivity - This soundbar has both RCA and Optical hookups and it comes with most of the cables so if your TV has an audio output, chances are good this bar can hook up to it. Cons: The ONLY 2 cons about this soundbar is that it doesn't come with a fiber optic cable and it does NOT support the rare Coaxial audio output found on select few TVs. Bottom Line: If you're wanting a decent sound solution for your TV at a great value - you can't go wrong with this bar.
