Speed on the insignia reader is good. However, the design is not amazing. The USB reader is too big and blocky. Due to the size, it takes up most of the USB 3.20 port space. You will not be able to insert another USB next to the SD card reader due to it being too big. It becomes a hassle to use on most of devices.

Let me tell you about this little Insignia USB 3 SD and microSD card reader, because as a Best Buy Total Tech Member, I'm always looking for those handy gadgets that just make life easier, and this one definitely fits the bill fornme. What I really appreciate about this reader is its straightforward simplicity and how incredibly easy it is to use, you literally just plug it into a USB A port on your computer or tablet, pop in your SD or microSD card, and you're off to the races transferring files (no drivers to install, no hoops to jump through), it just works right out of the box, which is fantastic. It’s super compact, almost tiny, with a little cap to protect the USB connector, making it perfect to just toss in a laptop bag, a camera bag, or even a pocket without worrying about it getting damaged, I’ve used it countless times to quickly get photos and videos off my camera’s SD card and onto my laptop for editing, and the USB 3.0 speeds are definitely noticeable compared to older USB 2.0 readers, things just move along much quicker, which is a huge plus when you’re dealing with large files, it’s also great for pulling files from microSD cards from drones, action cams, or even for folks who use them with their 3D printers to transfer print files. The price point is another big win here cause it’s very affordable, and for the functionality and convenience it offers, it's a really good value, at times it can be a bit tricky to get the microSD card in just right sometimes because the slot is pretty flush, but honestly, these kind of things are minor things for me. The build quality is what you'd expect for the price... it's plastic, but it feels sturdy enough for everyday use. Overall, it's a reliable, no fuss way to get your files from your memory cards to your computer without spending a lot, this Insignia reader is a solid little performer that gets the job done efficiently, it's one of those simple, practical pieces of tech that you'll find yourself reaching for more often than you'd think!

This works a lot better than the other one I was using. One suggestion for all card readers would be to show the direction of insertion though.

I purchased the Insignia™ USB 3.0 SD and microSD Memory Card Reader and it works perfectly. It’s fast, compact, and very easy to use—just plug and play. I use it for transferring photos and videos from my camera’s SD card to my laptop, and the USB 3.0 speed makes a big difference. The build quality feels solid, and it's small enough to carry around in my tech pouch. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and affordable card reader!

Ok, so Insignia's SD/MicroSD card to USB adapter is a no frills piece of kit. You get a simple device, in a simple box, but it does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a truly fast USB-A 3.2 (5Gbps) device. It has a protective cap, but essentially that's the extent of the features besides two slits that fit either an SD or Micro SD card. The box claims that the device can transfer up to 95 MB/sec. That's no lie! I have a Sandisk Ultra card that's rated for 100MB/s+ that I use for my Sony mirrorless camera. Taking 4K video needs high performance cards, so I have one. I was able to transfer a 20GB video in minutes - peaking at 93 MB/sec, but sustained over 90MB/sec the entire time. That's delivering on a essentially the only core feature this product claims: fast transfer from your removable media. The device's form factor could be better. Having SD card stick out from the side instead of just extending the length of the device means that it could interfere with other ports or devices on a laptop or the back of a crowded desktop. Perhaps a short cable or dongle style might have been preferred for some. That said, if you want to just throw it in your camera bag and go, this is a great form factor and device. The protective cover keeps the USB port out of trouble and essentially will fit securely in your bag. Overall - there's not much to say other than this device delivers! With so many card readers on laptops only delivering USB 2.0 speeds, it's nice to have a USB SD card reader that actually transfers at it's promised rate. Recommended!!

If you need a simple to use and easy to carry SD/micro SD card reader this Insignia version is definitely one to consider. I use a lot of 128 gb cards with my drone and digital cameras and using this reader allows me to quickly move the content off the device and into my computer for storage and processing. So far it has been able to read all my Samsung Pro and Sandisk Extreme Pro cards from 32 gb to 128 gb without issue. The reader has both a SD and a micro SD slot which is major plus for me because my GoPro and Drone use a micro SD whereas my DSLR and digital camcorder use SD cards. With two slots I don’t have to hunt down an empty SD adaptor card when I am connecting a micro SD card. Because this reader is about the size of a USB flash drive its easy to store and connect. It supports USB-A 3.2 so you should get decent upload speeds. I had been using a USB cabled reader that only supported USB-A 2.0 so this was an upgrade for me. The reader includes a cap to protect the connector when not in use.

I really like this SD and microSD reader it’s super easy to use. It’s USB and the cards do not get stuck inside of the device. There’s no extra things you have to. Do you just plug it in the files come right up. I would recommend it comes at a good affordable price.

Loving this SD/micro SD adapter to USB. Its very compact and just comes with a cap for the USB connector (which is 3.0, so its fast). It has two slots where you can plug a full sized SD card and also a Micro SD one. Very simple to use, just insert your memory card on the appropriate slot and then plug it in your device via a USB port (3.0 recommended for fast speeds). On my Windows PC and laptop it just sees it as a regular "USB Drive" and you can copy, delete, read any files you have in there, simple as that (some cards have some lock switches so make sure you have that disabled). Very recommended if you have several SD/Micro SD cards around and you need to read them on devices that don't have its native readers. I'm using this a lot for my Car dash cam and also my cameras. If I need to access any videos or recordings, I just pop off my memory cards, put them in this adapter and use them like any USB drive, super simple. The only con I could see is that my micro SD cards don't go all the way inside the drive, they just stuck out a little, so just be careful you are not bumping them or something, that's all. But I recommend this if you want a simple and fast way to access your memory cards via USB. The speeds are very good (USB 3.0), however at the end, remember speeds will also depend on how fast are your memory cards too!

This SD card reader works great! until it slows down, however, that's my SD cards. I have had only one issue, it disconnected for no reason, but I'm 100% sure it's Windows being Windows. So, irrelevant. Seriously, it's great. I haven't had any issues with the product, just what I use it with! And it's really cheap.

My phone stopped seeing my SD card, with all my photos! Fortunately I had an older phone that could still view them, so I tried to download them onto my laptop. My laptop couldn't view my old phone! A friend suggested getting a USB SD card reader, it's perfect! Card fits in, computer sees it, was able to download photos, even manage them. Such an affordable solution!
