That is the purpose of this item. The VGA connection carries the video image, while the USB connection carries the audio signal.

So I went with her suggestion and could not be happier. Due to the tight conditions I had to work with, I delayed installing this on my computer. It was not mission critical that I do it immediately, but now wish I had done it sooner. The moment I hooked it up it was incredible the difference in the picture quality of my TV/Monitor. Blew me away. For me it was a triple win. Cheaper to purchase and install vs installing an internal HDMI card, the picture quality is superb, and was not as hard to install even in tight quarter as I thought it was going to be.

Just plug it in and hook it up and Bingo! It works! No fuss, no muss, no bother!
