Like others have said I would have liked there to be a answer button for the phone and as well a volume indicator. Other than these two items I think this is a very good quality speaker. Worth clearance price of $35. Not full price.

First off, the 4/5 star rating I give this speaker is based on the current price of $30.99. At the regular price of $100 it would be a 3 star rating. This is a fairly large speaker and rather heavy. Probably not the speaker you want to lug around if you will be carrying it a lot. I've included a picture of this Insignia speaker next to the LG PK5 and Sony XB32, both of which are considered medium sized. The red speaker in the pic is the LG PH4, which is roughly the same size as the JBL Flip4. Positives: + Waterproof and will float if dropped in water. + Overall good bass output, with bass boost option. + Good battery life. + Has a USB input to charge external devices. + Storage compartment on left side to store small items or cable. Negatives: - Overall sound is a bit muddy and lacks clarity. - Heavy and bulky design. - Overall maximum volume not very loud relative to the speaker size. - Must use the proprietary charging cable/brick. - No indication by sound or light when at max volume. - Cannot use two or more of these speakers together to play at the same time. More regarding the size of this speaker. This Insignia is a bit larger than the JBL Extreme 2 and a bit smaller than the JBL Boombox. Both of those speakers are far more expensive, but do offer better overall sound quality. Sound wise, the Insignia lacks a bit in the mids and the upper range lacks detail and clarity. In speaker terms, this would be considered a warmer sound signature. I would recommend a good custom EQ app to tailor the sound better. Bass is good, but can be a bit muddy. I found the bass acceptable as is, but enabling the bass boost made it sound sloppy and at higher volume, distorted and over exaggerated. Overall volume level is actually a little less than the much smaller Sony XB32 I also own. This speaker's strength is for use outdoors at the pool, at the lake or ocean. With the IPX7 rating you don't have to worry about it getting wet. Indoors it's a good speaker for some applications, but I would keep it away from walls or boundaries, as that will reinforce the bass output and make it sound muddy.

First, this was $100 retail I believe. I got it for $30 on sale at Best Buy. I don't know if it really floats and I don't know how Waterproof it really is. Sound? It sounds decent out of the box. Bass is deep, and even deeper with bass boost turned on. The treble is very poor though. HOWEVER.... check your music player. If you have an equalizer (EQ), adjust it and this speaker will SING! It definitely can produce the high notes, but I think it's setup to be bass heavy, so you have to make your own adjustments if you want a more balanced sound. One cool thing is the USB output that can charge your phone (it comes with a micro USB, but not USBC or iPhone cable). It's pretty big and kinda heavy. Definitely not going in your backpack without adding some weight and taking up alot of space. Also, the charger for this has a small power brick in the middle of it. It's not a USB charger cable, it's a real charger plug like laptops used to have (the barrel style), so be prepared to carry this extra charger for when it dies - you can't use your phone charger like many other portable batteries. Battery life, dunno. Moral of the story - for $100, it's pretty good but has caveats...you can probably find other speakers as good or better for that price. For $30, I don't think you'll come anywhere close to this for its sound, waterproofing, floating ability, charger port, deep bass, etc. Plus, Best Buy is pretty good at taking back Insignia products if they malfunction, something other brands can't always claim. I recommend it for the right price.

My job allows me to have music. And my little Bluetooth speaker wasn’t cutting it as it distorted at higher volumes. I went in and saw what they had. Typical displays by the big names like Sony, Bose, JbL and other big bands. This one sat on the shelf. No display. I took a chance on it mainly for the handle and power bank feature... Boy was I blown away. This little thing packs a punch! It’s super loud when you need it to be and the bass boost actually adds low end. And for the price, I’m so glad I got this over the big name ones. Battery life is good. My phone doesn’t hold a charge that well so I can charge my iPhone 6s about 2 times while at work. Between that and streaming music, I can get a full 10 hours day of use on a single charge. The reason why I only gave it 4 stars... Sometimes. It just doesn’t want to connect to my phone. It could be the age of my phone but the problem solves itself after doing a few power on/off cycles. Not a big deal but that is something I’ve experienced with mine.

After trying to review this product versus the JBL, I came to the conclusion this one was better. The pricing was cheaper, it last up to 20 hours versus the JBL last 15 hours. The big JBL was “splash sproof” and this was waterproof. The only con is that the JBL is louder, but this one is completely doable.

I love the sound, too much bass i will said will beat harder if use on restroom, excellent for more open spaces, i do love it, i use it on the gym whem i am by miself, one thing is missing and all speakers should have is the button for next song, if you are close to water you have to hear whichever song is next even if you dont like it, or get out of the pool, take your phone and press next , is the only thing i hate about it

First, I got this very discounted and it was nearly free after using reward points. PROS: Very portable (loaf of bread sized), great battery life, water resistant, USB port to charge other devices, AUX PORT!, bass boost that actually does something. CONS: Bluetooth range is just okay. spoken words (podcasts) don't sound quite as good as music (slight muffle), I don't think it allows speaker tethering. Overall, for the price, this is a really solid buy. Sound only comes from the front, but if you position it right this is a great choice for small-medium locations, for home use and events.

I got this speaker while on sale and so far I love everything about except the fact that it does not have a forward or back button. You only have a power, play/pause, and volume controls. This means you have to keep your media player (phone for me) around at all times. Other than that the sound is really loud, clear and delivers good bass. The handle makes it easy to move around and setup was a breeze. I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a good speaker without breaking the bank.

I was looking for a bluetooth speaker for the garage and was looking for something not to big and not to expensive but still packs a punch. This one is definitely it. I have owned it for 6 months now and have got my money's worth out of this Insignia. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because sometimes it doesn't want to connect on the first try but something I figured out is you don't have to put a lot of pressure on the power button, just lightly tap it and it will connect every time but if you hold down on that power button it won't connect then you have to turn it off and try again. But other than that its golden. I would compare the sound to a smaller JBL flip or a Sony that is triple the cost. I like it so much I take it wherever I go to do work outside, inside, camping or whatever. I like listening to music everywhere I go plus I can control it with my watch to so if someone needs to ask me something I hit pause on my watch. I got this on the deal of the day and I had some reward money so I basically got it for free. If you are looking for a gift or something to jam to around the house look no further.

I've had this for about a month now. Great sound and loud enough to replace the boat stereo and also loud enough for the tennis court. It has some quirks. Have to hit the power button twice to turn it on and no track advance buttons, but worth the $40 deal of the day!

Overall it has been a good speaker. The sound is pretty good. I do wish it could go a little louder. I think it’s odd you can only have one device paired up to it. I have to physically turn off my Bluetooth so it can allow my husband to connect and pair up.

this thing is worth every penny. it is waterproof and it floats so its great for pool beaches and boats. and the sound level is decent. id say that that's where it lost the star, sound could've been louder but you really cant ask for more. charge lasts a lot. I really love this speaker!

This speaker works as expected. We had no issues at setup and connectivity to Bluetooth devices. Prefer the extra bass setting for sound quality. At very high volume there is some distortion but overall this unit delivers as advertised.

Bought this $40 Deal of the Day Insignia speaker for the optical lab at work. My other smaller speaker wasn't enough to overcome the noisy optical edger, which sounds like a loud vacuum cleaner. This speaker has impressive bass and plenty of power to hear in a noisy environment. It connects via Bluetooth in a few seconds without fail every time, and battery life is excellent. The only small negative is that it's a bit bass heavy for some songs/genres, and lacks bass without the boost. The sound could be better balanced, so you may want to use an equalizer to help compensate, or try placing the speaker on different surfaces, which can affect the tone performance. Otherwise it's a five star speaker. Highly recommended!
