This is a great smart plug specially because it lets you monitor electricity used by whatever you connect through it. Unfortunately, the app could be improved. It lets you create daily shedules so that is a good thing, but I found out that for some reason my plug was programmed with an hour of difference making me to change the hours of my schedule to match the actual time.

I bought this plug after my wife bought me an Echo Dot for Christmas. I got this one since it was the cheapest but I had a bit of a hard time setting it up. One thing you have to know is that you in the set up the plug, you have to be on the 2G network, but once you connect, you can go back to 5G if you have it. A few of the updates have cause my device to lose the name, but now everything seems to work perfectly. It works for Alexa and Siri.

The tech support is of no support at all. Just google your questions because these guys at Insignia dont get paid enough to think for themselves. They will google your questions. The only reason this has 3 stars is because it meters how much wattage is being used and it works with Appl homekit and Google Home... 98% of the time that is.

It's slow to respond. App is trash. Not the best product

I have a little bit issue upon connecting the first time since the quick installation sheet is different with the menu in ios. There is one step that is to set this item to your wifi ssid first before all things start working. And for the first time connection, stay close (about 10 ft or less). Then, after being connected, all things are working fine, the measurement and the remote seitch system works fine.

It took me over an hour to get this setup with my iPhone, it’s not the easiest to setup but for it done. The main problem comes if you shutdown your phone and you are not in the same WiFi as the smart plug, the smart plug just disappears from the app, the app says that there are no accessories setup/configured. When I got back home the smart plug appear right away. But then my iPhone had an update, I updated it and right after that the smart plug was not showing in the app anymore. I need to be able to use this outside my house, the app is not very well done. Looses setting if your phone goes off outside the WiFi network. I need up returning it and getting the TPLink one instead. That one took me about a minute to setup and no magic tricks on accessories disappearing. So don’t buy if planning on using the app from outside your house. If your phone looses charge you will not have access

I have a different brand that was easy to set up and works flawlessly. I bought this for my add last Christmas. It lost its connection once and I had to break out the instructions to get it figured out again. It hasn’t lost it since and is still working almost a year later sooo.....

As a WIFI plug seems to work fine. The Insignia Connect App on the other hand seems to need some work. Each time I get into the app, it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 min (or sometimes never comes back and needs to be shut down and restarted) and displays "updating devices".

This thing is sweet. Works with Google Home AND Apple Homekit (and Alexa I assume). Exactly what I needed to turn my Technivorm into a smart coffee maker. Sure, the app is bare bones and "meh" looking but it's effective and easy to use. Great use of $25 bucks, if you ask me.

I really loved this because of price, the fact you can see power usage, and lastly because it works with Apple HomeKit. The only down side is it isn’t as fast to turn something on and sometimes can get hung up, but if you’re scheduling something you should have no problems!

I don't use this as a "smart plug" per se -- I bought it so that I could measure how much power was being used while charging my Chevy Bolt. It works well for that, giving you a monthly average draw/cost, but I wish it had a more in-depth report, and a way to reset the metering to start over by a set billing cycle.

Packaging is misleading, suggests that one can create timers like Wemo. The app does not allow this feature, and the app is pretty terrible overall, which is why I removed a few stars. However, the device works fine so far and I like the metering feature.

This product was a bit difficult to setup in the beginning but works well now. Hooked this up to my lamp. Overall, it is pretty reliable and I have only had 1 instance where the light would not connect. Maybe it was an issue with my WiFi. A more affordable alternative than purchasing a smart light system.

This product is so affordable and does exactly what I had hoped. It is plugged into an outdoor outlet and powering our Christmas lights. It is set to auto-power on in the afternoon and off later at night. If I manually turn the lights on before the timed power on the lights will still be turned off as scheduled. The schedule I set remained after our home lost power from a car accident in town. Everything I mentioned above is controlled and set from my phone via the Insignia app. Your phone does not have to be near this device for the schedule to work, but I do not think you can manually toggle the power from the app unless you are connected to your home network.

The app is terrible. It was hard to set up with both Alexa and Homekit.I had to reset it several time The scheduler is not reliable.

I picked this up to plug the Christmas tree into. It works well and the app is simple and straightforward to use. However, I could have used a cheaper timer but I want to see what else I might use this type of plug for.

I saw the item being used at the store. I used it for my Christmas tree. It worked as advertised, but lost WiFi many times. I had to unplug it to get it connected again.

The device works well now. I did struggle with the setup and I did have some connections issues at first. I have used the product for about a month now and the connectivity issues are now not been a problem.

Took a little bit to understand how to program the device initially. But once that hurdle was overcome, the device works well and as expected. I use this device with my Apple Home Management software.
