I bought this kit as a way to hook up dimmers to lights so I can control from my phone. It took a little to setup , but once setup properly. it worked as advertised.

Reliably works as advertised! Tech support helped me over a small problem with installation and gave me outstanding help.

Purchased as a baby monitor for a large property that standard monitors will not work. Works great no problems and easy set up.

Low price and easy to setup for newbie to home automation.

I bought this to run three lamps (and because my reward points were expiring). The app on my iPhone5 does not always remember the user name/password and the devices do not always respond even when I'm logged in. Other than that- the remotes seem to be effective. I put two on a timer, and they've worked flawlessly

I've added numerous devices and it all seems to work fine. Only issue is with the app. It has to re-connect every time you open the app on the Ipad or phone which takes a few seconds. I wish it would just stay connected.

There are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out in this system.

I would suggest this to anyone interested in an automation of their home looking to buy more switches and outlets

One of the best security systems I've purchases. The only problem I have with the system is with the camera setup.

I bought this starter kit to use along with my existing X10 lamp modules, and it works great! Easy to set up the app on my android phone and easy to add Insteon and X10 lamp modules. Love setting on/off schedules so I rarely have to touch my lamps anymore. I also have an open/close sensor for a door and have set up text message alerts every time it's open or closed. Highly recommend!

If you are interested in home automation, this Insteon starter kit is a great way to dive in. Includes 2 on / off sensors that can be remotely controlled from your mobile phone or set via a schedule. Holiday decorations, lighting for pets (fish, reptiles, etc.), floor lamps, table lamps, etc. have been extremely easy to control thus far. The hub can be configured for remote access via the internet, so you can keep tabs on the system remotely from your mobile phone. There are numerous Insteon devices that you can add to this starter kit, so you aren't handcuffed into a handful of options. Highly recommended.

I initially bought the Wemo switches and those are junk. They were the only devices that couldn't maintain a connection to my 2.4 GHz network. I exchanged them for this Insteon starter kit. The Insteon hub is plugged in to my AirPort Extreme router and is accessible on both my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. No muss, no fuss. This is one of the few gadgets I've purchased that my wife instantly liked and started using. The Insteon app allows both of us to be connected to and interacting with the system simultaneously from our iPhones either via local Wi-Fi or over cellular. The scheduling works flawlessly for us. I have purchased three LED bulbs to use for outside lights, the Insteon camera, and one additional dimmer switch since buying this starter kit. We are able to have all the lights turn on at sunset and the outside lights turn off at sunrise while we turn the inside lights off manually whenever we want right from the Insteon app. I have an 1,800 square foot home and I've had no communication issues between the hub and the remote devices. Everything just works together well and is easily controllable through the Insteon app both locally when we're at home or when we're halfway around the world. This kit was a fantastic purchase that has given my wife and I a new, greater sense of home control and security.

I had been looking for a good, scalable home automation package and feel I made the right choice with Insteon. The starter kit was easy to set up but I had difficulty with port forwarding on my home router. The instructions that came with the starter kit were a bit lacking in detail. Thankfully they have a great deal of help on their web site. The instructions on their web site go in to far more detail and made the installation much easier. The mobile app for this system works well but it doesn't have the look and feel I had hoped for.

The setup and control features and dependability continue to improve. Customer service is always helpful. The sunrise/sunset timing feature is almost worthless and this could be one of the outstanding features. You almost always want lights to come on or turn off before sunrise/sunset or after sunrise/sunset, not exactly at sunrise/sunset. Without this ability you have to manually change the timing as the daylight changes throughout the year.

I purchased the hub because the website stated I could use my insteon cameras through my iphone app and that the install could be done within the app. Half correct. The cameras do connect using the app but if you wish the access video from away from your house, you still need to download a program and configure your port forwarding on your router. The directions are horrible and if your not a computer programmer or tech, forget it. You will then be forced to call tech support who will require you to allow them access to your computer to configure the router. Not sure what the point of the hub is if all that needs to be done and I could have viewed video using a third party app anyways.

Works great. Had it set up in 15 minutes. Very user friendly, can't wait to add more devices.

Great system from Insteon. Use it for light timers, door sensor & motion detection. I never have to come home to a dark house late at night. Software is easy to use & setup, it's schedules could use more flexibility however.
