This INSTEON 2244-224 starter kit includes a hub, which connects to your router and lets you remotely control INSTEON-compatible devices throughout your home, including a compatible incandescent lighting device via the LampLinc 2-pin lamp dimmer module.

- Receive instant e-mail or text message alerts on your compatible device: When disturbances from compatible motion, water leak and door/window sensors (not included) are detected, so you can stay notified while you're away from home.
- Device scheduling: Lets you program your INSTEON-compatible home devices to turn on and off at specific times, such as sunrise and sunset.

A: You don't, buy a universal remote. If you want to control automation and the TV, etc get the Logitech ultimate home remote. Pricey but can do a lot.

A: You can control as much as your heart and wallet desires. The hub is a good start. Insteon works by 2 different modes of communication, 1 via the home powerlines and the 2nd by wireless.
