We used this to upgrade a PC we have in our meeting room with a large screen attached. Works great and a lot faster now!

I bought this as a bundle upgrade (GPU, CPU and Motherboard all got upgraded) with a GIGABYTE Z390 Gaming X motherboard and MSI GeForce GTX 1660 GPU. I'm hitting 100% utilization at 160 FPS with high/ultra hybrid settings in Fortnite and 100-120 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Major improvements over my previous i5-3570k and well worth the price. If you can afford, maybe the 9700k is worth it for a workstation, but for gaming the 9600k does an outstanding job.

This intel i5 is sufficient to play a number of games at high settings in 1080 resolution. In fact, my build with this i5 plays Fortnite at higher frame rates than my 2019 i9 27 inch iMac. Both systems have the Radeon RX 580 and the comparison was done at 1080, so this was a nice surprise. It also scores higher benchmarks than my 8th gen mobile i7. This is a great bargain at this price point and definitely the best bang for the buck when it comes to intel processors.

Grabbed this CPU so i can do some generally light gaming, music production and other stuff and this CPU has really impressed me. I can run multiple programs at the same time with ease. I don't do any hardcore gaming so I couldn't tell you if it's suitable for that but for music production it's been working great. I run a lot of instances of various VSTs and so far i've been able to work with no pops or any lagging. Very happy with the product.

This is a good pick for gaming rigs at the best price. ideally for streaming good on a budget.

I have trusted Intel for years. I know that the newer AMDs out there might be as good or perhaps better in certain circumstances, but this product will not disappoint. I installed one on our friends ASUS TUF Gaming Motherboard and it rocks. I have a 9900k and I didn't notice much of a difference during gameplay. You don't always need the most expensive solution to have fun and play it all.

If you're looking to just build a computer for work or casual gaming this is a pretty good processor to start with. It's factory unlocked and without overclocking reaches 4.2 GHz haven't had a problem running anything on it yet.

Not the latest model but fast enough for my new compter build and a good price.

Coming from an i7 7700 I expected a minor upgrade. But I was pleasantly surprised. Temps never go over 60c at stock settings. Overclockable to 5ghz on my hyper 212 black edition nearing 70c. Haven't had any bad sides yet.

finally built a new computer after 10 years and it was this processor or the i7 the 9700 I went with this one because it gave me adequate speed that I needed and it was in a better price range

The Core i5-9600K is an iterative update over the previous-gen model. But if you're shopping for a new processor, it does provide enough of a performance improvement to merit attention. The processor clearly provides the best performance for gaming at its price point, though AMD alternatives are enticing if you're more interested in productivity applications.
