It's a hot boy, that's for sure. Great performance for gaming though. Would make a great heater during those cold winter months. I decided to give Intel another chance even though so many people have given up on Intel cause... Well, if you're building a computer you probably know why... AMD is just better, more efficient and they're moving forward... They also didn't cut cores and threads and say the processor is some how faster than the last gen. After this cpu I will probably be switching to AMD also. Don't get me wrong, this cpu is great, it gets the job done and as long as you have a way to cool, you're still an Intel fan, and if it's still cheaper than AMD it would probably be good for you. Honestly, it being cheaper is the only reason I got it.

Great if priced below the 5800x

For $250 it’s really pretty good. Contends with the 5800x3d and motherboards are cheaper, if you can get it or the 11700 non K for around $200, go for it. Just don’t buy the 11900k.

Quite the upgrade from a 10700. Easily OC'd to 5 Ghz. My z490 board also get PCIE 4.0 with this cpu.

Great cpu with plenty of headroom....BUT, I will say this chip has a tendency to run HOT at times. During some testing it got up to almost 80 C and that was with a minimal load. That may be due to overclocking, but it is still something to keep in mind.

This processor is excellent for almost any computer application that I can think of. I use it in conjunction with rendering in Autodesk Fusion 360 and Blender design work. The i7 processor can perform numerous iterations in a fraction of the time of my previuos processors, with excellent results.
