I bought the Roomba 870 after my daughter and her husband bought one and recommended it. My wife and I love it but I do have some qualifications. First, for most people it probably won't replace your vacuum cleaner totally. However, it is a great addition and significantly reduces the need for a normal vacuum cleaner or Swiffering. On our main floor we have about 1200 square feet of wood floors with area rugs in several areas. We also have two large dogs who are moderate hair shedders. As a result, when I run the Roomba, the dirt compartment will need to be dumped at the end of each run. If I haven't run the Roomba for a few days, I may need to dump the dirt compartment half way through a run. I also have found the need to clean the filter regularly and also the rollers underneath the unit at least once per week. Still, I would rather do that than manually Swiffer or vacuum the floor myself every few days. However, if you aren't willing to do this periodic maintenance you may want to steer clear of this device, particularly if you have shedding animals in the house. I rated this 4 stars because of the need for regular maintenance but I really do love this machine. It is well designed and a lot of thought was put in to the design to make it easy to do the periodic maintenance easily. I would buy this again without reservation. By the way, even my regular vacuum cleaner needs periodic cleaning to get the dog hairs out of the beater brush and to clean the vacuum filter so no cleaning device is maintenance free.

This Roomba does a decent job. I would expect just a little more for the price, though. It could be a little smarter -- sometimes, it gets caught up in a pattern of working the same small area for a long time and ignoring the rest of the room. Or, it'll go behind the couch (which is good) but not find it's way out for 20 minutes (which is bad). We have a yellow lab and dark hardwood floors, so unless we vacuum nearly every day, the floors look disgusting. The Roomba has made it a lot easier. It goes out there every day and cleans up most of the hair every day. We still have to pull out the regular vacuum once a week or so to get the hair and dust in the corners, around tables, etc. The Roomba is not maintenance free. It needs to be emptied every day. Overall, it saves us some work, so we are keeping it. Just wish it were $100 less or a little smarter. If it weren't for the dog hair issue, I don't know that it would be quite as useful.

We have 2 cats, and the pet hair has been rough on previous models of Roomba, but this one worked amazing. Not only that, it also has a much larger bin. So, no brushes that constantly need cleaning, and no small bin that constantly need emptying. We were super happy with this crazy expensive vacuum. Then it broke. We expected it to break, they always do, but usually they take a year or two before they do. This one died after 31 days. Bottom line: very unreliable, but works fantastic when it's not broken.

Great machine. Runs quietly and cleans well. This is my second roomba. Love them both.

The I-Robot 870 does an excellent job. We like it and use it multiple times a week. We have all hardwood or linoleum floors so I don't know how well it would do on carpet but on our floors it's great. We ordered it from Best Buy and it arrived 2 days after we ordered it with free shipping.

Like most I thought there was no way these things could possibly do all that they claim. Well I was wrong! They really work great and can navigate all over the place very well. They surprisingly pick up copious amounts of dirt and pet fur. I'm stunned every time I empty the canister and see how much stuff it cleaned. Most of the reviews are very similar to mine. One of the best purchases I have made. Don't be shy and buy one of the lower priced models. Get the better one with the brushless system. Waking up everyday with a perfectly cleaned house is amazing!

The Roomba is amazing. It is easy to use, easy to set up and does a terrific job. It tells you when to empty the bin, gets itself out of places when its stuck, and know how to get off of a cord or shuts itself off. We liked it so much we bought a second one for upstairs!

It picks up a lot of dirt and will run for about an hour. It's a little noisy, so we run it when we're not home. You need to pick up wires, Legos and anything else you don't want sucked in. It will cut off something gets caught in the agitator. Quality product.

Cleans well, picks up most everything. It does get stuck under couches everyonce and awhile but the device is solid. Easy to schedule times for cleaning, and runs for a long time before returning to dock.

This is my third Roomba iRobot vacuum by choice, not because they are bad products. I love the fact I can push the start button or schedule it to begin vacuuming when I choose. The 870 model has been by far the best model I have owned. The brushes are better in this model than in previous models. The filters and collection bin are better as well. I mostly have tile floors and it does a great job cleaning. It does go from tile to carpet with no problem. I have three dogs and it picks up their hair and dirt with no problem. The only problem I don't like is that it will start to clean a room and then leave before it is finished. The only model I see that will not leave before it is finish is the 880 model.

I got this model because of the aeroforce extractors instead of the brushes. This picks up loose hair everywhere and is so easy to clean. I love it.

I have had my IRobot for 1 month now and so far I love my IRobot. Seems to do a good job (always has stuff in the dirt bin). I still have to do major vacuuming with my Dyson but considering I have 2 big dogs and a cat that all shed, the IRobot has helped keep the hair picked up.

I didn't expect this to work very well with 3 pets and I am extremely surprised and happy. Seems to pick up most hair from floor and carpets. The only thing that could be better - larger trap for dirt and dust.

Our carpet and concrete floor is always clean! With just a press of a button roomba cleans a toddlers cheerios mess and mommy's falling hair. This is a great gadget!

This robot vacuum is the best thing ever. We have 2 gsd's that shed a whole lot, and this has worked great to pick up all the hair. Definitely recommend this product.

Does the job it promised to do. Just a little noises. Sometimes it does not pick all the dirt as it may have missed a spot. Not sure if it is because the battery starts going low so it looks for the docking station

We have 2 dogs, hardwood floors and 1 room of carpet. This works so well, shortly after getting this the dogs were stuck in the house for days from bad weather... We would of went crazy without our roomba! So easy to use !

roomba vacuum is elite. Nothing better than coming home everyday to a clean house. Simple to operate and 2.5 hours of cleaning makes this the best bang for your buck. I've never had a problem with it getting stuck.

Wow is all I can say. This romba works beyond my expectations. it does a excellent job getting all the pet hair off the floor. I would recommend this to anybody who works a lot and does not always have time to sweep.

This product performed as stated. A very good upgrade from previous models. Gets the job done, without getting out the vacuum. Great for shedding dogs.
