This is the 2nd Bot Vac that i have owned but the 1st with a ROOMBA and i have to say it so much better then my other 1. I love the look of this clean from the station to the Bot. The voice on this caught me by surprise it's got a nice sound to it. This clean in a nice row pattern i just doesn't go all over so you get nice clean lines in your carpet. Has a great run time and gets out of spots it gets trapped into. It runs fast it is a little loud when it is running but that just means it pulling out all the dirt and dust in the carpet. It's get that it cleans the tray out so you never have to touch it. Now when it cleans the dirt tray out and sucks it into the bag back at the station it sounds like a JET taking off. This has been a great vacuum to have the APP is great and easy to schedule the cleaning and it will alert you if there is a problem.
Now the one thing i did notice is that it might leave a little hair ball on the carpet my wife has long hair. I did find some hair balls on the carpet the 1st day i ran it. I haven't seen anymore or i just mot looking that hard for them.
It also has gotten stuck on my stairs the top landing area going down you can see the tracks of it trying to get away from the area.
You can program this to stay out of areas or objects you want it to avoid.
This runs fast but not hard but it wont do any damage to your base boards like my other did. I had nothing but white paint on the front of it.
ROOMBA make a great vacuum and i think they were the 1st to make these. Always making the next one better.

This handy little gadget does a pretty good job of cleaning! There’s 3 main tasks I need to do before running Regina (iRobot encourages you to give it a name):
1. Pick up any toys or other items off the ground
2. Flip the chairs and stools up onto their tables or counters
3. Make sure misc items are out of the way such as window curtains and power cords
(4. Return the chairs, stools, curtains and cables to how they were)
We have about 1200 fee downstairs and it takes Regina about 90 minutes to clean run through so I’ll run her if my wife isn’t working from home at the dining table or if we’re going to be out of the house for a while.
Regina cleans up pretty well, getting about 90% of whatever it is the kids are leaving on the floors. I love how she empties herself as well with the bin! Without that, what’s the point of the robot cleaner if you have to stop what you’re doing to empty a bin or come home to floors that are half cleaned?
We have a sectional sofa that with a chest we use a coffee table so it’s very much a U-shape and Regina finds her way thru the U just fine. I also like the map and how you can label rooms so that you can just have her vacuum one particular room.
There’s a few areas of improvement that I’d like to see in subsequent models:
1. Quieter operation - nighttime operation would be ideal but she’s way too loud to run at night, especially when she empties her bin
2. Better reach in corners and tight spots - maybe some sort of extendable arm?
Lastly, beware if you have rugs or floor mats. I had to tape down the corners of a thinner area rug. It would either bunch up and confuse Regina’s navigation or she would end up underneath and then you have this cartoon like blob roaming under your rug.

My initial run with this vacuum has been pretty good. I previously owned a Shark robot vacuum which was okay but had room for improvement. The biggest upgrade for me here is that this iRobot vac has it’s own trash bin and empties itself.
Much like any other robot vacuum, this iRobot one is pretty standard in design and operation. One big thing I did notice between my two robot vacs is the noise. The Shark was pretty loud. It had three power settings you could toggle between and the most powerful one was obviously the loudest. This iRobot one is pretty quiet which is nice. I have hardwood floors so the noise from these robot vacs is amplified quite a bit. When cleaning my carpeted bedroom floors, much much quieter.
When you first use these robot vacs, they need to meander around your place in order to get the lay of the land, so to speak. This one does something so simple yet so effective; it goes in parallel lines. The first time I used my Shark, it went everywhere, round and round, bashing into furniture, etc. The iRobot will logically run in parallel lines and the sensors onboard know when there is a large object in its way. Basically, it learns much faster and logically compared to the Shark. After each run you can view the map it came up with to confirm accuracy,
The biggest issue for me is the trash bin. It’s great in that the vacuum empties itself but the biggest issue for me is it is LOUD when it empties the dust bin. The trash bin uses bags very similar to the old school vacuum bags so that’s where all the dirt goes and does need to be replaced. When the vacuum empties itself, it sounds like a jet turbine engine. I think it sounds louder than a normal, full sized vacuum cleaner. It’s loud and it revs much like a normal engine. Basically it spins up and spins down when the trash is being emptied. Kind of surprising how something that small can be so loud.
This vacuum has its own companion app as well being Alexa/Google Voice compatible. So far things have been pretty good and this vacuum performs as expected. Aside from the jet engine sound from the trash bin, this seems to be a great home automation device to have.

Cleans so well, the carpet looked massaged

The iRobot Roomba i3+ Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal is a nice addition to my cleaning tools. I have three indoor cats, so I'm always looking for something that will help me keep up with their shedding. I have another Roomba model that I use downstairs, and it's been a huge help cleaning the marble, hardwood, tile, and carpet, so when I had a chance to test this one, I couldn't pass it up.
There's basically no assembly; you just unpack everything, pick a place for the base station, attach the power cord, and you're set. I already had the app on my phone, so adding the new vacuum took about 5 mins. I let the robot charge for about an hour before I used it because I'm using it upstairs where everything is carpeted. The carpet isn't super thick, but I wasn't sure how fast the battery power would be consumed since I'm sure the motor works harder over carpet than in does over smooth surfaces. My upstairs is about 850-900 sq ft, and it usually takes one return trip to the base-station to recharge in order for the robot to clean the whole thing. The pathing of this particular model is incredible; on its first run, it went through every room, barely missing a spot... and it's gotten better each time. This model also doesn't seem to slam into things, unlike the model I have downstairs, which occasionally will ram an object as if it doesn't 'see' it. I'm also pleasantly amazed at the cleaning ability of the i3+. The dual brushes on this model are different than most of the brushes I've seen. They work so well, that after it's done, the carpet almost looks like it's been massaged. As a matter of fact, during its first run, it returned to the base-station 3 times to empty itself. At first I thought something was wrong with it, but on subsequent runs, it has only returned when it's low on battery, so I assume on its first run, it was picking up more fur (since I hadn't vacuumed in 2-3 days).
Overall, I'm very pleased with this vacuum. I set up a scheduled time for it to run, and I've just forgotten about it. It's allowed me to reclaim some time that I used to have to devote to vacuuming myself. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

This robot vacuum is amazing!!!! We bought this after having bought a different robot that didn’t do the job. The other one was on sale and we thought we’d save some money. Took that back and bought the iRobot i3 and it has been a godsend. The first time I used it the iRobot it quickly learned the layout of my house. This is without me having it map my house first. I just ran it the first time to vacuum and by just doing that it was able to learn the layout of our home and do a great job of vacuuming our house. Every time I run it the vac remembers what it did the during the last job. The best feature is it self empties itself (and it sounds like a jet engine when it does it but that’s ok). It will stop cleaning when it’s full of dirt and when it needs to recharge then it will go back to the stop that it left from. I still haven’t scratched the surface on all it can do. I basically run it 3 times a week but this is the best vacuum in my opinion on the market. This is the first review I’ve ever given that just how amazing this vacuum is.

We've tried robot vacuums on and off since 20 years or so ago when they first hit the market and boy have they came a long way since those days. The new iRobot Roomba i3+ is an amazing little product that does a fantastic job of cleaning and, very importantly, mapping out the space where it is supposed to clean without getting hung up on things and calling for help (something previous iRobots have tended to do from my experience). Unpacking and setting this up was a breeze and except for one snafu, that was user error I might add, it was very quick to setup the app as well. The snafu I speak of is the iRobot has 3 buttons on it to hit and you're supposed to hit 2 in combination to get it to go online and me, like a big dummy, kept hitting the wrong two. So pay attention the actual buttons and you'll do just fine, something I discovered after some frustration.
The actual robot moves swiftly and with determination, hitting a real recognizable pattern, unlike past robotic vacuums and does a good job of coverage. It does not seem to waste as much effort as some past models and completed our first sweeping session in about 2 hours, which I thought was pretty good. It also was very good at not getting tangled up on some floor rugs which past robotic vacuums have had trouble with and was excellent in how it went back to its station a time or two, emptied the vacuum, charged itself some more and resumed the job. I was very impressed with this little guy and put him on a twice a week schedule. Now that he has been running for a solid week I can say our carpets are cleaner than ever. And yes we do have two cats that shed a lot so this is impressive.
Be aware this does use a bag unlike some modern vacuums so you will have to buy bags for it but other than that the only other con is possibly the noise. There is a more quiet option, which I did not test, but the vacuum can sometimes sound somewhat loud as it has great suction, especially when its docking. My wife compared it to a plane taking off! So yeah maybe something to run when you are away and not something to run when you're trying to sleep if you're a light sleeper.
I give this vacuum very high marks, it's fast to get up and running, it's thorough and vacuums up everything very well and it does seem to be the smartest robotic vacuum I've ever seen in regards to not getting stuck, doing its job and getting it done right. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VACUUM!

Easy fixing and slim

At first, I was a bit intimidated. I did not know what I would have to do in order for the cleaner to clean the floors or how much time to do things such as setting boundaries, to make sure it didn't fall off stairs or get stuck. Little did I know that this little guy is actually pretty smart. The process to get it setup was super simple however, the instructions laid out the process to just get the base plugged in, connect the unit to the base and get it setup on the network via a mobile device app, and the vacuum just figures its way based on sensors. Some of my friends have had robot vacuums in the past and this steps is what they said made it very tough to get it up and running.
The cleaner and base unit materials seem very solid and do not seem fragile in any way.
I am very impressed with the technology and applications supporting this cleaner, such as setting up a cleaning schedule, even when an issue happens such as a jammed brush, the application alerts you and provides you instructions on how to look/repair the cleaner or reporting on the areas in the house it cleaned. (I have had a few problems with the dust ports getting clogged and not able to empty it in the base unit which requires manual intervention, however the fix is fairly simple.) This set of parameters gave me confidence that, even if there was an issue, that I could do some entry level diagnosis and fixing to get it back on track.
As a dog owner it is a constant battle on keeping the floors clean with hair but this cleaner does a very good job at cleaning the floor. Something that I didn’t realize it would do is that it even it will go under furniture as its slim design is very accommodating.
Overall this product is super solid and comes in very handy when trying to maintain clean floors with pets and kids. I highly recommend it due to its very intuitive fixing guidance and its slim compact build.

I will start off by saying I waited years to get one as I was skeptical as to how well these work so this is my first robot type vacuum. We have 2 dogs and a 20,000 square foot house. So far I have done a few full cleanings and I can’t express how impressive this guy is. I named mine Eli. The mapping and some functions still seem to be in beta. The functionality is great. Under tables, beds, in corners, over floor transitions, cords you name it this will go over it. We have hardwoods, tile and carpet and it handles all with ease and cleans well. Runtime is good also. It takes about 1 1/3 charges to do our entire house. The self emptying function is excellent and works well. I couldn’t do without it now. The phone application works great and is very easy to understand and set scheduled cleanings with if you prefer. I think this is a must buy for sure especially with how well these clean and how thorough they are at doing it.

I love all of the features of this vacuum. It mapped my house, I can schedule when i want it to run and it empties itself. I literally all i have to do is declutter the night before and its good to go. The only downside is how loud jt is when it empties itself. I swear it sounds like a jet is trying to take off from my living room. All in all, its a great tool!

Purchased to help with dog hair. Does 4star cleaning, has NOT CLOGGED yet(2months in) with 3star noise level. 4star for the App/mapping features, but 3star for difficulty using the app while it is running the vaccum. The vacuum and tower smelled like DOGS within 1 week-especially when it empties. I found cut-to-fit charcoal filters and put one in the bin under the bag, and one in the vacuum, no more smell:) Pretty good unit, way better than the Eufy it replaced

This thing is great! I upgraded from an echo and I’m so happy. The vacuum is far better for pet hair , and I can tell the carpet has been vacuumed. The self emptying feature is wonderful. Great Upgrade Over the 690
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I’m writing this review from the perspective of someone who has owned and used the Roomba 690 for the past few years. The i3+ is a huge improvement in every way and the Clean Base lets me set it loose on large areas without having to worry about emptying the bin. It doesn’t have the mapping features of the higher end models, but after seeing it in action and how it handles multiple rooms it’s not something I’m going to really miss. Unless you need to be able to specify cleaning to specific areas I don’t see any reason not to get this over the i7.
The clean base makes for a nice dock just for how much more substantial it is compared to my 690’s dock. I have had issues in the past with my 690 not quite lining up with its dock and it just ended up pushing it around for a while. Besides being taller it doesn’t take up all that much more space than my old Roomba and I was able to put it in the same spot. The base does use a bag that says it can hold up to 60 days of dirt. I’m guessing your mileage will vary on that one, but at least the box does include one replacement (as well as a replacement filter), so you should be good for a little while out of the box. Setting it up through the app was super easy and I’ve enjoyed seeing the improvements that iRobot has made over the years.
Onto the actual cleaning, I started off using it on my first first floor, which is all hardwood. It’s a single room consisting of a hallway, living room, dining room, and kitchen. It covered that area in 53 minutes the first day and 37 minutes the next day. I did notice an improvement in how much dirt it picked up and the navigation is much more predictable than my 690. It’s also much quieter. It does emit a low hum that seems to be amplified somewhat by my hardwood, but we had no issues hearing the TV while it was on. It didn’t bump into my furniture as aggressively as the 690 either, which was never too much of an issue before, but something I noticed. I also have the Bravaa m6 mop, which can be setup to run after the i3 finishes and that worked as expected. At the end of each job the vacuum returned to its base and was emptied. The base I will say is quite loud when it is sucking dirt out of the vacuum. It sounds like a shop vac. I don’t really have an issue with that, but if you’re not paying attention it might startle you.
At the end of the day, picking up dirt and dust from my hardwood was something my 690 did pretty easily. I moved the i3 upstairs to my 2nd floor, which carpeted. Its layout is 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a hallway. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the i3 was able to navigate to each room, make trips back to the base to empty its been, recharge once, and remember where it had been the whole time. I watched it stop in the middle of cleaning the master bedroom, drive back to the base in the hallway, empty its bin, and drive right back to where it had been. There was a section of carpet in one of the bedrooms that I thought it wasn’t going to get, but it ended up coming back there towards the end of its job to get it. I know this doesn’t have the mapping functions of the higher end Roombas, but I really wouldn’t know it watching it. I’m not sure what magic they’re using to make this happen, but I’m genuinely impressed. It left the carpet clean enough that I didn't feel the need to go over it with a regular vacuum for a while and it was long overdue for a good cleaning. I will say this isn’t going to beat a good upright vacuum, but I don’t think any robot vacuum can do that. Overall with the bin emptying and recharging (which took about 45 minutes), it covered this area in about two and half hours.
I was ready to criticize the i3+ for not having built-in mapping, especially with competing vacuums offering that at a lower price, but after seeing it run these past few days I just don’t see it as that big of a deal anymore. Roombas are still the more expensive option in robot vacuums, but I think you’re getting your money’s worth with this one.

A Winner of a Robot at My House!

The Roomba i3+ is a well designed and thought out robot vacuum with the added accessory called the Clean Base® Automatic Dirt Disposal unit, which enables the robot to automatically empty it catch bin, so you do not have too. Let’s first discuss what comes with this robotic vacuum system and then we’ll tackle any remaining features, provide some usage impressions, and end with pros and cons.
The i3+ comes with of course the Roomba I3+ robot and the Clean Base®. You get the usual assortment of manuals – one for each part of the product. The Clean Base® comes pre-installed with an AllergenLock™ bag and there is a spare in the kit as well. This will give you up to 120 days-worth of vacuum collection, and the bags are rated to trap 99% of pollen and mold. Additionally, the kit includes a spare High-Efficiency Filter. The Clean Base® is also the Robot’s parking spot and charging unit. Here are some additional features of the robot:
• Powerful Pick-Up and Suction – the robot has a 3-stage cleaning system that includes the 10x (vs the iRobot 600 series) Power-Lifting Suction.
• Smart navigation – navigates and maps your home via state-of-the-art floor tracking sensors to vacuum hardwood floors, tile, and carpet.
• Reactive Sensor Technology – helps the robot know where it can and cannot reach – so it does not get stuck and knows where to go. This combined with its Dirt Detect™ sensors means the robot will focus
on the areas that need the most cleaning.
• The robot can be controlled from the iRobot Home app – which allows for scheduled operations and multiple schedules, seasonal recommendations, and other options – so the robot works to your schedule.
It is also Google Assistant and Alexa compatible and you can get the robot moving with your voice.
The setup of the robot is easy and starts with strategically placing the Clean Base® and plugging it in. Next, one downloads the iRobot at home app, creates or logs into their iRobot account, and sync the robot to your WI-FI® network, and then sends the robot on its way. The app will also allow you to update robot and base settings and find your robot should it get lost! The only issue that I have been having it looking at the post job status items - this causes the application to crash on my Android phone but I have not missed this part of the application and I have not yet done proper troubleshooting.
Usage Impressions
Well, this robot has already found its place in our home. We love the fact that she will startup at 10 am and vacuum the entire lower floor while we work on other things. The robot has yet to get stuck and as needed she returns to the Clean Base® to get a recharge in and then she is off and running again to complete the job. All told it takes her just under 3 hours with 1 hour of recharge time included for vacuuming nearly 1300 square feet. She has already earned her place in my wife’s heart when she stated that she is on the list of items that are now must-haves for our home.
The unit retails for $599.99. Annual recommend maintenance costs for - Bags (6/year), filters (6/year), and brushes (1 set each year) are $140. This means the first-year cost of $710 dollars, with annual maintenance thereafter of $140.00 – which is likely to be far cheaper than hiring this work to a human.
Overall, we are thoroughly impressed with the vacuum and it has indeed found its place in our home. The fact that one does not have to do much with this device except replace the bag when it gets full is a real time saver. The ability to schedule the robot to run on your schedule allows one to automate the basic day-to-day cleaning and then focus in on other responsibilities and cleaning where the human touch is needed. Despite the app issues, this item is a winner and the app issues should be an easy fix.
Pros: Clean Base®, Smart Navigation, scheduling.
Cons: the app issues – which should go away.

First robot vacuum i've owned. Have to say, i'm quite impressed! Out of the box, you get the Roomba i3+ robot vacuum and the base station along with a detachable power cord. Additionally, you get an extra filter for the Roomba and disposal bag for the base station. Setup of the Roomba is very simple and straight forward. I ran into an issue though when trying to connect to Wifi but this was due to my own network settings and not the Roomba itself. I have my 5ghz network and 2.4ghz network set up with different SSIDs, so at first it wouldn't connect to the 5ghz network - attempting to connect to the 2.4ghz network solved the issue; if you have both your 5ghz & 2.4ghz networks set up as a single SSID, you will not experience this issue. Aside from the Wifi issue, everything else was smooth sailing.
Once the Roomba was setup, i watched it vacuum the living room. The way it learns/maps the room is very efficient and leads it to hardly get stuck. Being a software developer myself, it is quite interesting to see this methodical vacuuming process in action. It is very obvious that a lot of R&D went into this Roomba. The quality of the vacuum itself is quite good. The Roomba is able to pick up anything from fine dust particles to cereal sized debris from the ground. The Roomba is able to traverse from hardwood to carpeted surfaces quite easily as well; my living room has hardwood flooring with carpeted rugs and i was amazed to see how consistently the Roomba moves across both surfaces.
The only thing that is a little weird about this little robot vacuum is when it is done vacuuming and goes back to the base station to empty out. This process is very loud and audible, which makes undesirable to schedule vacuuming sessions at night as it'll interrupt anyone that is sleeping. Perhaps the Roomba developers can add in a feature to allow users to set up bin emptying times when scheduling (this way the Roomba can still vacuum at night but empty the bin sometime in the later morning after everyone is already up).
All in all though, this Roomba is quite awesome and i cannot recommend it enough for anyone that needs an intelligently automated vacuum!

Item arrived as scheduled and as described. Easy to operate and performs & cleans very well. Setup was easy and allows for scheduling. iRobot returns to the station and empties when full, charges itself and resumes where it left off. Mapping is a super feature.
Only con I have is it operates a little noisy when docking to the station for self emptying.
