Easy to set up, at the 2nd use it was able to map the house. The downside, it has left very visible and I the middle of the room crumbs and dirt sometimes

This is our 3rd Roomba. Our last one was a Roomba 980 which was great. This one is so much smarter. It has yet to get stuck and smart mapping is amazing. Also it is a ton quieter.

Works pretty well…definitely not good on plush/shaggy carpet. The brushes get stuck a lot. Pretty easy to program once you get the hang of it.

We already own a Roomba 985 (980 series) and M6 braava jet and have loved them. The J7 caught our attention because it advertises improved navigation, obstacle detection and room by room cleaning. The J7 comes cleanly packed, features 2 filters around the dust bin area, 1 of which is washable. This unit is the same as the J7+ but DOES NOT include the self cleaning base. The dust bin is smaller than the one on our 985 and latches for a swing away removal. One feature that may not matter to most, but I find lacking is the lack of a handle to pick up the robot when moving it to home base in the event it gets stuck somewhere and runs out of power. Our 985 has a handle and though it took me forever to discover it, it is a feature I really liked. The navigation and mapping seem pretty good though I find our map is not 100% accurate and will likely end up creating a new map at some point. In cleaning mode it took over a week to create a map of our home, if you do just a mapping run it is more efficient. The obstacle detection is pretty fantastic and after the robot finishes its mapping of the home it will photograph obstacles for you to review in the app and help modify the robots cleaning behavior. For example, we have a cat bed and some large cat toys that our robot encountered during a cleaning run and the robot saw these as obstacles and avoided them. When I reviewed the obstacles in the app, I had the option of telling the robot whether these are temporary obstacles or if they should be part of a do not clean zone. In the case of temporary obstacles, you can tell the robot to go back to those spots and tidy up. The clean by room feature works well over all, thought I found the robot in rooms I did not designate for cleaning, but again this is likely due to the need to remap. Since we already have an M6 Braava Jet that uses smart navigation, I would have liked to see that map be shareable to a new device, but it was not. The LED light is a nice feature, but it seems this robot may be a touch more sensitive about having enough ambient lighting in the house than our 985. The noise level is similar to our 985, but doesn’t ramp up into “carpet mode” like the 985. Since all of our floors are hard floors, this translates to less noise from the J7 in most cases. It does a good job cleaning and definitely keeps up with all the flying cat fur. I like that it can successfully navigate under our sleep number bed without unplugging necessary power cords which I was always correcting after the 985 would run. I would like to see iRobot include the clean base accessory with this rather than making it an upgrade, since at the time of this review it is not possible to purchase the clean base separately. This is most likely due to a supply chain or manufacturing delay since the company website touts being able to add the accessory to this unit for anyone who did not purchase the plus model.

This thing is excellent, albeit a little confused at first. Our house is mostly hardwood floors so the convenience alone is worth the money. The two cats love to shed all year round so any help we can get with the clean up is more than appreciated. It is our opinion that this is the best vacuuming robot you can get for the money you may spend. If your house is more than 2000 square feet I would say you should upgrade to the j7+ so it can empty itself once it is full, but ours finishes the job every other day with no issues. We just empty it out once we’re home from work. Anyway, this thing is phenomenal. If you’re looking to get one, this is the one you should get.

I had one of these robot floor cleaners just after the technology made them available. It was junk. I purchased the Roomba j7 hoping the technology had evolved. I can say that I am very satisfied with the iRobot j7. It was easy to set-up, and so far I have seen no flaws. It did once manage to lock itself in a bathroom by closing the door while cleaning the floor. It seemed confused for a few minutes, but eventually headed home to recharge. I have found that it will pickup hair by wrapping it around the beater brushes. I will still have to use the upright vacuum for deeper cleaning, but the j7 can do most of the cleaning.

It is good, but I expected more for an updated version, in my opinion the old one worked better

Honestly this seemed like something that would have been in the old Sharper Image catalog - sounds great but completely unrealistic in real life. I am pleasantly surprised. It cleans quite well. We have lots of cords and we have to prep the house with some unplugging and lifting before vacuuming but it is definitely a labor-saving device. We have all hard floors and seeing how it does on some area rugs I'm not sure I would be as happy with it if we had carpets. It is definitely good enough that I'm planning on getting the iRobot mopping unit too.

Loving my new Roomba. It took a little to figure out some of the settings, but it really is making a difference when I do not have time to vacuum.

I purchased the J7 after I decided to retire my few years old Roborock S4 to the basement and get some newer technology. If the J7 was my first robot vacuum purchase I would probably be happy. But when compared to my previous one this has too many annoying problems. Let me start with what it does better. First, it really is a good-looking vacuum. Much nicer than the homely S4. Next, the amount of pet hair and dirt it collects is at least 30% better than the S4. So isn't that what a vacuum is supposed to do? Vacuum? Why 3 stars? Because it only finishes a cleaning job 50% of the time. Reviewing the last 30 cleaning jobs on the app, only 14 finished. There are way too many issues that require my intervention to get a finished job. It sucks up objects it is supposed to avoid, brushes get stuck with pet hair, doesn't dock properly so not charged for next job, strands itself because it didn't recognize no-go zone, etc. It is rare I need to help along the S4 except to empty the much larger dust bin or clean the washable filter (which the Roomba does not have). I wouldn't say I totally regret this purchase but given the opportunity to do it again I would go with another Roborock. BTW, as I write this review the Roomba has not cleaned in 6 days while I wasn't home. Battery was dead sitting on the charging dock.

Does a good job of cleaning the floors. Like that it creates a mapping of your area. This way you can use app and advise where you would like cleaning to occur or not.

Cleans good, however gets stuck alot, starts vacuuming in the middle of the night without being prompted or scheduled. Kind of freaky

This makes the second Roomba that I own, they are efficient, quiet and trouble free. My sweeper sits in the closet gathering dust

A MUST HAVE if you have pets. Easy to clean. Operates by phone, remembers your floor plan. You can tell it to clean everywhere of one specific room.

It has cut down on my vacuuming significantly! It’s especially nice that it fits under the majority of the furniture so I’m not moving chairs and sofas all the time!

A much improved model compared to our very old Roomba! It’s smart, fairly quiet, and efficient.

This vaccuum makes my life so easy it makes cleaning my house a breeze. I can start it fro anywhere and when i walk into a clean hosue makes my day better.

Quiet, fast and very smart. Not too complicated to use. Like the simple dock. However it is not really good at avoiding cables and sliding door dips.

I never thought anything of these automatic vacuums, but I have to say after I purchased this for the house, I can’t believe I how great it works. Big fan!!

At first I was skeptical of this robot's technology but I was wrong!! As a single guy that works a lot, with a 2400 sq ft home, I don't have much time to sweep. I have a dog that sheds a lot of hair and I grew frustrated with the hair situation. But now? I am so happy with the quality of work of my irobot!! I have made the best investment of my life!! This is a precise and technologically-advanced sweeper. It has given me great joy in knowing that I don't have to sweep much at all, if any!! I highly recommend it. Now I'm going to purchase the moping machine!!
