||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Arrived 11/30/2021. Stopped working 5/20/22. Was told replacement part would arrive in 5-7 days. As of today 6/3/2022 they still don't know when the part will ship. Poor communication and didn't last for 6 months before needing repairs. Wouldn't recommend. When it was working it did work well.

The Roomba j7, a riveting robotic vroom-ba
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iRobot Roomba j7 is a gamechanger! Over the last few years, I have seen family and friends slowly convert to robotic vacuums, and the Roomba j7 has brought me into this future. There have been predictions for years that robotic technology would become a part of the home, and robotic vacuuming is one of the first areas to integrate this technology into a layperson’s household. The cutting-edge features of the Roomba j7 set it apart. These features I speak of: Obstacle identification and hazard avoidance. iRobot has enabled the Roomba j7 with “PrecisionVision” technology. There is an anterior sensor that is designed to recognize obstacles/hazards. The Roomba j7 will identify and avoid cords, which for myself was an absolute plus. I have multiple areas in the home with extensive cord mess (me and cord control are not friends), and the Roomba j7 has completely avoided those areas… it is able to recognize a cord, and not run over it. This is an absolute relief, as having a Roomba, but having to worry about if it will run over a cord and get hung up or damage the cord would not bring relief. Rather, without cleaning up every little thing on the floor, the Roomba may run. In addition – the “hazard” avoidance. This is key! And comes with a guarantee! The Roomba j7 guarantees pet waste avoidance. There is an official promise that if the Roomba j7 runs over pet waste (poop) they will replace the j7. As a pet owner, I LOVE this aspect. I may turn on the Roomba j7 while not at home, allowing it to clean, and have a peace of mind that will not come home to a mess. Luckily, I have not HAD the opportunity to put this guarantee to the test yet… but if the same technology is employed that recognizes cords, I highly suspect there will be no issues – and if there are, the guarantee. I still remember, my parents had an early iRobot model… and one of the first stories I heard from them was that the vacuum had ran over a pile of cat poop and spread it all across the floor. That was a deterrent from a Roomba in my mind, until the j7. The Roomba j7 interfaces with the iRobot application for the smart phone. This application allows for control of the Roomba j7. Setup was quick and painless, after making an account, the phone was able to recognize the Roomba j7 and facilitate connection to WiFi – and good to go! The application allows for control. As the Roomba begins to clean the floor, it creates a map of the home. This process took 3 cleaning runs in my case. Once the map was created, I could see the automatic lines drawn between rooms, and edit them according to my desires. I actually left the lines that were drawn by the application and named the areas (Included an image of the map). Once doing this, you may select to do a full vacuum of everywhere, or specifically choose a room/area to be cleaned. This allows for direction of cleaning, a fantastic feature easily controlled in the app. You may set favorite cleans (like everything or certain room selections), create a cleaning schedule to allow for automatic clean without thought, and be notified by the app when the Roomba is full and needs to be emptied. I have needed to clean out the Roomba’s bin every 3-4 runs. My house is full of long female hair, animal hair, and I have a welcome mat I allow for my cat to scratch. It cleaned up the particles from the welcome mat, a great plus in my book. You may quickly pop out the bin, to empty it. I would suggest occasionally flipping it over and cleaning off the sweeping brush and rubber brushes if you have long hair in the home. My wife’s hair tends to get caught up in all types of vacuum rollers, so keeping this clean early on will facilitate an easier future. Also, in the application you are also able to see the charge level of the vacuum. The vacuum itself, has an edge sweeping brush (an extra is included) on the front, that allows for bringing hair or other messes toward the rubber brushes. The rubber brushes are designed to work on multiple surfaces. I have mainly hardwood, and they work well on the floor. There is of course suction, which seems to be quite efficient based on the size of the Roomba j7. Going back to that welcome mat I let my cat tear up, I was impressed that the Roomba got up all the extra fibers, so seamlessly. The suction does seem quite efficient, only caveat to this, is that I would be hesitant to let it vacuum over a fragile rug. But, if designating areas on the map, can just make a certain area of concern off limits to the programmed clean. All-in-all, the Roomba j7 quickly becomes apart of the home. Based on this iRobot, this may be my first robot in the house but will not be the last of household robotic technology. The Roomba j7 uses application and technology to make a personalized clean, while avoiding tragic mess. The Roomba may be programmed to clean, when and wherever one may want within the home, while avoiding cords or pet messes that would be catastrophic otherwise. This absolutely assists in maintaining a clean home, with less dust and hair throughout.

Do not buy
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's trash. I've had it for maybe 5 months. It sucks at picking anything up despite regularly cleaning it. The pathing goes over the same spot a million times but ignores other spots completely. It randomly decides to stop working and gets stuck on flat ground with nothing around it. It apparently finds my feet intriguing because it spends more time bumping into me than doing absolutely anything else. It'll randomly decide it's not charged despite sitting at its charger all day. If it gets stuck in a random spot for a few hours, it apparently drains its entire battery despite spending all day on the charger. This company has been making these robot vacuums for decades and I can't believe they have the audacity to charge hundreds of dollars for a dinner plate that can't even vacuum the floor which is the bare minimum expected. Don't buy this. It is trash.

Nice little tool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, I am very pleased with my first interaction with a Roomba. It has gotten "stuck" and "lost" one time each. The dirt receptacle is too small. Also, the machine is pretty loud. The app is ok, it does take a few time to figure out how to make things work correctly. I am impressed with the mapping quality. It does a great job here. It also makes a good distraction toy for pets :-) I was hesitant to use something like this but so far, so good. Nice job, Roomba!

Improved Expensive Secondary Vac
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My older iRobot Roomba was given to me by a friend who couldn’t use it anymore due to the amount of hair she and her dog shed would choke up the Roomba and it would die in the middle of the cleaning cycle after being choked out by hair. Also, their dog absolutely hated it. I also have 2 females in my household and there is constantly long hair everywhere. The old Roomba had a remote for spot cleans but it was by no means a RC car. It did the trick when you wanted to direct it to a certain spot. The old Roomba still has a place in my home, but in the basement provided my little one keeps the area to be too much of a mess. The j7 was meant to be in our family room but as the first level of our home is being renovated due to flooding so it has been in use on our second level. The first few cycles were a bit of a mess. The j7 seemed to have OCD on several areas and just wanted to keep going around in circles in certain spots and just kept flashing its light. So much to the point where it would get seemingly stuck there and die from a low battery and not being able to dock even though the dock is 3 feet away with no obstructions. After pretty much a complete mapping it seems to be less interested in these areas but I still see it from time to time ping ponging in those areas for an odd amount of time, but the j7 has not died in the middle of the floor again … yet. Being able to control the Roomba and direct it to do a spot clean with the app or Alexa is pretty cool. The bin could be a touch bigger, but I usually run a larger vac so usually there should never be too much that the Roomba should need to pickup on a regular basis. However, the j7 has been sucking the ever-living life out of one of our medium pile area rugs. We vac that rug regularly with our up-right Dyson and never get that many fibers pulled. But after the first few passes while mapping the layout the j7 was PACKED with fibers. So much so that I had to reach into the hole of the j7 to pull out the rest. This could be due roller design. It isn’t as bad now after a few dozen passes. I may have to look into adding the larger base station (if possible) for additional capacity. The j7 does a better job picking up than our older Roomba, but the tri brush sometimes flicks crumbs across the room and it doesn’t get it. I wonder why there isn’t another tri brush adjacent to it both moving inward toward the ‘mouth’, but I’m no engineer. But picking up dust and long hair is so far not an issue with the j7! Suction seems to be better than our old one so the bin seems to get full quicker. The bin appears a touch smaller than the older model. Obstacle recognition is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes we will throw something in front of it and will stop and divert, other times it will keep truck through and over it. It makes me nervous about the poo protection. Even though we are house broken… accidents happen…. Like ice cream…. Going over carpets and thresholds posed no significant problems when approaching the step straight ahead, but approaches at an angle throw it off its trajectory and it goes elsewhere and eventually creates a new path. The previous Roomba had beacon towers that I had to situate in order to prevent it from committing hari-kari down the stairs. The j7 detects the drop off and turns its happy-self around and powers on. Smart. With the previous Roomba I never thought it to be a replacement for an actual vacuum, but for in between/spot cleans it did the trick. The j7 improves every function of the Roomba1, but it still no Rosie from the Jetsons. The app and Alexa support work very well and are welcome additions. The camera on the j7 isn’t something I’m keen on but I understand the need for it. I would recommend the j7+ would be the recommended model for the additional capacity if you were already looking to spend this much on a robot vacuum. Giving the cost of this luxury item it is hard to recommend to someone who only wants to use this as a primary vacuum cleaner. But if you are in the market for a robovac the j7 is impressive for what it is designed to do.

Same error every time on carpet
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Roomba kept giving me the same error every few minutes while running on my carpet. Same issue every time obstruction on rollers which I checked every time and had minimal amount of hair the first time. Every time there after had nothing. It made cleaning worse, so I returned it and got myself a cordless vacuum. Wished it would’ve worked. I had a shark robot before but had issues with the mapping was hoping for something better but for us a regular vacuum works best.

Relax and let iRobot Vacuum do the work.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot Roomba j7 Wi-Fi I found the IRobot J7 Wi-Fi Vacuum to be an efficient vacuum that cleaned my home using intelligent features. The vacuum created images of my floors by moving in rows using a smart camera and an LED light. It effortlessly climbed over area rugs while it navigated around obstacles like high chairs, electrical cords, shoes, and toys—the iRobot vacuum cleaned under my cabinets and living room sofas with ease. It even avoided going down the steps. The iRobot app was easy to use. The app helped me connect to the iRobot vacuum by Wi-Fi. The app helped me create a cleaning schedule to clean different areas of the house. There's some periodic maintenance that has to be completed for optimal vacuum performance. For example, the debris bin has to be cleaned, the filter and the multi-surface brushes must also be cleaned periodically. If you have a large house, the one drawback is the battery life. The vacuum battery lasts about 70 minutes, and it takes about 90 minutes to recharge. It took two chargings to complete the vacuum cleaning of my 3278 square foot house. Otherwise, I would recommend this IRobot j7 Vacuum.

This vacuum did not work for me
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned this vacuum. I have a Roomba that I bought about five years ago that is still working well for me. I purchased this for my son's home. I set it up for him and tried using it but after s short time it would go around in circles and would just stop in the middle of vacuuming. I used it for several days and decided this just wasn't going to work. I don't know if it was defective or what. It was extremely quiet. I didn't know if that was a good thing or not.
