You only need to plug it into the walk when you are charging items using the provided USB part. No need to plug in just to connect devices.

I plugged it into a USB port and then added four USB devices to the hub. The computer recognized it immediately as well as the devices. Great product if you have this problem

Whenever I needed to plug in multiple drives to my 2012 MacBook Pro, this was the way to go. I could plug into (4) USB Ports at once, which was amazing!

These external USB devices required a driver to remain functional. This device was timing out and causing the driver to be lost. It is probably good for charging cell phones and for use with flash drives. It just didn't work for what we needed it for.

My MacBook Pro only has 2 USB ports, and with the 2 USB licensing keys I use, I had no more room. When I practice, or go out for gigs, this can also provide power for an external drive, &/or my multiple audio interfaces.

It has a long enough cord to bring it to the front by my key board making it a lot easier to attach whatever to my 3.0 USB. Has worked very well for me so far !!

Its housing body is aluminum, looks like a precision made product. The actual product looks better then in picture. It comes with a power cable, gives you plenty of power in case you connects all 4 available USB ports.
