USB ports work fine, but not Ethernet

And Ethernet is the biggest reason I bought this. Every time I use it, I have to plug and unplug the ethernet cable in order to gain internet access. Often takes 5+ tries, waiting between each to see if I got connected. Then once I finally do get access, it'll work for awhile and then randomly disconnect me without warning....I often resort to (slower) Wi-Fi just to avoid interruptions. Needless to say both problems I've described are very frustrating. I downloaded and installed the driver correctly and closely followed the J5Create step-by-step installation instructions. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, but immediately started having the same problems. At least all three USB ports continue to work

I have a new Macbook Air which does not have an Ethernet port and has only two USB ports. That means finding a suitable hub or equivalent. After fooling around, for too long, with a USB to Ethernet connector, I gave up. The connection kept failing. Besides, it would have taken up one of my two valuable USB ports. I then found the j5 create hub with not only an Ethernet port but also three USB 3 ports. What a find. After downloading and installing the drivers, it worked like a charm, first time out. What a pleasure. I could go on but I will wait for a few more months of operating before I say that it is a "permanent" fix. But so far, absolutely no issues.

Works if you have enough USB port power

I used this with an Insignia tablet which does not provide enough USB power to power a portable external hard drive. I didn't think the USB network adapter and hub together would overload it and I don't think there's any good excuse for it doing so, but they did. It worked in a USB port on my desktop. Another USB gigabit ethernet adapter with the same chip worked on that tablet. If you have sufficient USB port power, it might be a good purchase, however I'd recommend buying a dedicated USB gigabit adapter instead.

Perfect for what I need. I'm using it right now at work with my Asus 2-in-1; it's connected via a USB dongle that was supplied with the Asus. The other end is connected to the hub with a Cat5 cable so I can connect to the network, and I also have a wireless mouse receiver connected to the hub as well. No issues with setup, and it's been 100% reliable so far. I also like the fact that the hub is not huge; it fits into my Asus case fairly easily. Very happy with this peripheral.

I work in IT, and bought this to use with my Surface 4 Pro that I use for work - being able to work hard wired at home is a huge plus, and having the additional USB ports is great. The option for the AC adapter is a huge plus too, the Belkin model doesn't have that. Liked it so much I bought another, and use it for my home laptop to connect an external keyboard, mouse and Ethernet (HP Envy x360) when I don't feel like fiddling with cords while I'm sitting at my desk.

I was looking to get a wired Ethernet adapter for my MacBook Pro Retina Display and the price of a Thunderbolt Adapter and this was very similar. The Good thing of this USB 3 Adapter is that after the download (it does come with a CD) of the software is a very easy installation and the good thing is that it includes a USB 3 Hub. Neat. More ports. On the bad side it should include a Power Adapter for when you need to run more than one Hard Drive on the hub.

The reason for my laptop purchase was so that I could do more than with a tablet alone, so I was very surprised that the new laptop didn't come with an Ethernet port. I decided to get this adapter since I would be able to use my laptop with wired Ethernet, plus it also has 3 USB ports. Having one adapter to keep track of and being able to use it multi-purpose seemed like the best situation. The adapter works fine.

I bought this for my Nintendo Switch to use for hardwired internet, and it works as described and then some. Along with having a stable non-wireless connection, I also have extra USB ports for other accessories. You can save your money and buy this instead of the 1st party branded item of similar capacity.

My 2-in-1 lacks an eithernet port and I wanted a sub hub. This fits the bill of what I was looking for. It works great and is a convient form factor. Just don't expect to get full gigabit speeds, USB 3.0 is only about half of that. I was able to get about 350 megabits speeds real word transfer from a network computer with a solid state drive to my computer which also had a solid state drive. I am happy this unit.

Great little device when you need an extra Ethernet port for your desktop or laptop. I used it with my work laptop to be able to communicate with Ethernet barcode scanners when developing software. It gives me the ability to have one port with a static address and not mess up my laptop settings for the built in port

in theory. Cheaply made, and after spending 45$ for a powered USB hub, you have to pay to buy the power adapter that is Not included....Not likely. Returning it. It's not too cool that they don't tell you the adapter is not included in the specs. Also, it stated that it weighed 2 pounds...that was fine. But it doesn't even way two ounces. Regardless. Cheaply made. Not worth the price.

Bought this product based on the box specs and Best Buy's reputation. J5create did not disappoint! Simple install, instructions perfect, plenty of support (not needed, but reviewed anyway). Used it for networking a Surface and Lenovo without Ethernet ports for my basement command center. Added two more USB ports per machine, awesome. Perfect for the need.

I have a Mac book Pro that i use for digital audio workstation and movie editing work . I wanted to free up the thunderbolt port which was being used for Ethernet and add some USB3 ports. The USB ports work fine for standard Apple USB keyboard, Logitech USB mouse and Akai MIDI (USB) keyboard controller. I downloaded/installed the Ethernet driver and that works fine also.

I bought this item because my new laptop only has 2 USB ports. I need to connect several different equipment into my laptop including an ethernet. However, looks like the ethernet doesn't work. I am not sure if it is because of the port hub or the internet system in my apartment.

I got this because I wanted more USB ports for plugging in multiple devices, drives, etc. when I was looking at the different options this was best for me since it had usb3.0 which my new laptop has. I also do some network work so the Ethernet port was an added bonus for a much lower price than it would have cost to buy the two products separately.

My WI-FI on my Surface stopped working and in order to resolve issue I need to have an ethernet connection and since the Surface does not have a built in ethernet port I needed a ethernet connection via the USB port. The bonus was that this device also had extra USB slots so I could continue to use my USB mouse.

Bought this for my Macbook. It looks solid, but it didn't work. It has a power port to plug in an adapter. I'm assuming that my USB-C port isn't providing enough power and I'd need to buy a power supply, because the product doesn't actually come with one. The instructions say to contact J5 before BestBuy. That's a red flag for me. I'll be returning this item.

While this port does function fine like it is, and I really like using a single port for my laptop that has no Ethernet and is short of USB ports, if you want to use an input such as an external HD, you'll need to add a power source. Would have been nice to know when purchased. Would have been nicer if included in purchase price.

A good device to use; however, it will require you to download drivers from the products website in order to use the Ethernet function. This I did not like, especially since it is from a Taiwanese company with unverifiable sources. However, if IS/IA is not a major concern this product is well worth the investment, tough design and efficiency

Works perfectly to solve my slow internet problems. I signed up for Comcast GIG Internet service and was not receiving the 1-gig speeds even though the output at my modem said I should be. This simply and immediately allowed me to bypass my network card and gain full gigabit internet speeds.
