Additionally when I use my work laptop at home all I need to do is switch the USB-C from my home laptop to the work laptop and I'm hooked in to my large monitor and storage devices.

Works good, gets hot

However it gets very hot, and thats without using the power pass-thru. Haven't tried that so no idea how much hotter it would get. IMO the high heat will lead to short life. I have other J5create products and do not have this issue. So it's either a design flaw, or I managed to get a lemon.

Multi adapter for laptop

Very useful tool to use considering how limited native ports are in today’s laptops. Have used it multiple ways, multiple times, and always very reliable.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.We do expect that the device will get warm to moderately hot, but this is well within normal ranges. Our device has been stress tessed and we have found that the average max opeational temperature for this product is ~106 °F / 41 °C, this is also while the adapter is under a full load or is being used continuously for >~ 1hr.Please remember that ambient temperatures can also affect the unit as well as your computer. Manufacturer's recommend that computers be used where the temperature is between 50° and 95° F (10° and 35° C)." If you are finding that your device is exceeding the average temperature of 135 °F/57 °C, for periods > 30 minutes, it may be defective and we'd be more than happy to help with an exchange. I plugged it in and I was able to connect to ethernet through my laptop. I have not had the opportunity of checking out any of the other features. The adapter was useful for ethernet for me.

Expensive but works well

The hub itself gets hot to the touch but I think that is just because it isn't very efficient and not due to it being unsafe.

Posted .Hello Calwes, the JCD383 is built with compactness and portability in mind with an aluminum housing, it can get warm because of that. Using the Ethernet port can also heat up because it's consuming/manipulating current but the body should never become too hot to handle. It does get hot if you connect several components in it. Also, it is a plug and play module, so you do not have to worry about a driver. So far this has worked well.

Posted .Generally, adapters emit some heat as a normal part of its operation, especially if the Ethernet and Power pass-through are in use. The body can become hot because of that. We appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
