Posted .Hi KEVG, thank you for purchasing the JCD383 device. Generally, adapters emit some heat as a normal part of its operation but the body should never become too hot to handle. The JCD383 has an aluminum housing, this is meant to conduct heat away from the internal parts, it can get warm because of that. The JCD383 will make swapping laptops in and out of your workstation a breeze. The convenience of only having one cable to unplug cannot be beat. The JCD383 can support a USB mouse and keyboard, wired internet, and an additional monitor.
