Just be sure that the laptop is compatible with hdmi to the port on your monitor or the laptop won’t recognize your monitors.

Also understand that this will only project 1920x1080 and for some reason the display isn't that great running through this piece. I know the monitor I have it connected too has a much better image than what I am seeing. This is a good item for those that aren't looking for the best picture quality but want to just have multiple monitors. I am returning this item to get a hdmi to type c wire to connect my display that way.
