I give the Jabra Evolve 40 Headset excellent marks for sound quality and comfort. Sound Quality This is a critical requirement for a headset, and this headset does not disappoint. I watched several movies and listened to several hours of music, and found the sound produced to be full range and accurate. In fact, this headset rivals other more expensive headsets that I have used. If a headset excels at the demanding task of listening to music and movies, then it will likely have no problem with voice reproduction. Thankfully this turned out to be the case. I used the call feature on both my iPhone and Windows PC, and found voice calls to be very clear and intelligible. All of the people I communicated with by voice call had no problem hearing me, and said they wouldn’t have even known I was using a headset if I hadn’t had told them. This headset also employs passive noise cancellation that helps to improve the quality of the sound because of the isolation of outside noises that can be disturbing. Comfort This is another critical element for a headset, and once again I was not disappointed. This is a very lightweight and comfortable headset. I had no problem wearing it for several hours and actually forgot that I was wearing a headset. Usage There are two ways to use this headset The first is using the standard 3.5 mm jack which makes it compatible with most devices. The second option is to use a USB interface that attaches to your computer. This option allows the use of advanced call management commands such as transfer, mute, volume, and answer/end. I especially liked the microphone boom because it easily rotates up and magnetically locks into place on the top of the headset. This gives the headset a clean and sleek look when the microphone is not needed. Another nice touch is the included carrying pouch. Verdict The Jabra headset is an excellent choice for both home and office applications. I recommend it because it does the most important thing headphones need to do: Sound good and be comfortable to wear,

I asked via 'chat' if this had a 2.5mm jack to plug into my cordless home phone. BB said yes no problem, it does not! 3.5mm and USB only! Other than that, it is just ok. The boom does not stay snapped into the head set when not in use, as designed. I had to wrap a velcro strap around it to keep it there. There are better headsets for the same $$.

Hi Gary - We appreciate your feedback, and we apologize that you had this experience with your Jabra Evolve 40. If you have any questions about the product, we are just a phone call or email away. We also do not want you to have to use velcro to keep the boom arm stuck to the headband, that is what the magnets are for. We hope to hear from you so that we can help improve your experience overall:  https://www.jabra.com/ServiceMenu/contact/ContactJabraSupport/ContactJabraSupportBusiness. Thank you for your review! Sound quality is amazing. The complete package is just what most people will need and use everyday. Sound quality is clear. Microphone is also working very well. USB connection hardware works fine with Windows computers. Didn't work at all with Linux (not intended and didn't invest time to make it work) plug and play didn't work. Very comfortable on the head and on the ears. Doing great cancelling environment noise. The good thing about it that it is not limited to USB connection use and that it can be used as a regular 3.5mm headphones jack. That's a very good choice (unlike some others). The only bad thing about this headset is the plastic structure. While it is sturdy enough for human polite use, the headset has a lot of weak points especially where the earpieces slide in and out for adjustment. Gentle and careful usage recommended. Overall good for daily usage.

    Great Little Headset

I opened the box and the thing that struck me the most was the size of the ear cups. They were smaller than I thought. They fit just over the ear opening (which is what you need). They are light on your head and ears. I wore them for a couple of hours and had no fatigue, could have worn them all day and not experience no fatigue as with some headsets. They were comfortable and did no weigh my head down. The headset also has one cord coming out the ear cup. This is great, because you don’t get tangled chords. That is big plus. These were made with conversation in mind. The ear opening was clear and crisp when listening. And the mic was clear and concise when speaking. I plugged them into my cell phone and I was able to talk at a normal volume for speaking. Hearing was not a problem either. They worked great for this application. I was surprised at how well the sound was during phone calls. The cord is really two. The 3.5” jack doesn’t have the options that the USB extension has. The USB connection part of the headset includes pretty standard features with volume, mute and picking up or hanging up with the headset. Turned on some noise in different areas in the house and had a conversation on the headset. It did a decent job of cutting out some ambient background noise. This little headset did perform well. The headset is nice and light but built really sturdy. It would be hard to break them because they are not flimsy. They are also come in a soft case. This is where the size plays a part. They easily fit into the small soft case. Easy to pack for travel or just for protection anytime, the size of the headset accommodates for being in tight places when not being used. The cord could be a little longer when using the 3.5” jack, but not an issue with the USB interface. The cord was a shorter distance on the 3.5” jack, if you sit close to your computer when you use the headset, then it is not really an issue. The mic was at a very comfortable distance from your face. And the mic side of the headphones was not weighted or lean in that direction. It stayed put. When not using your mic you just move it back and push it into the headband. Now it is like regular headphones. One thing of interest is music. While sounding with clarity, the headset had no low end. High sounds or light music is fine but the headphones were really were not designed for music. So don’t put too much emphasis on music with this headset, these are more designed for calling and receiving conversation, which they do very well.

    Portable, First Rate Sound

I have a pair of wired headphones (with a microphone arm) for my laptop that doesn't put all that much sound out through the audio jack and I was looking for something better. Well, I've found it. This headphone with swing arm microphone is not only comfortable to use over the ears but it solved the lack of significant sound output that the previous headphone had. What you'll notice when unboxing this wonderful set of headphones is the attention to detail that is put into the product. There is a carrying case which contains the headphones. The usb cable contains a volume control that is flat (with a circular pad to not mar your table surfaces); the usb cable is looped in two locations and instead of just having a twist tie put on in an arbitrary fashion, there are two twist ties on each of the loops and they are wrapped tightly around the cable in such a fashion that it looks almost solid instead of a temporary wrapping. When someone puts this much detail into just the packaging, you know the product has to be special. I was not disappointed with the sound and comfort. And the swing arm microphone has a tactile grip that you can feel click through as the arm is raised or lowered instead of just a loose feel of a arc motion. Again, this is a detail that is small, but indicated total quality overall when added to the other details. The head band which the individual ear pieces also has this grippy click feel to it - not just a compression catch that will wear out - this is first class. The unit looks impressive as well - red insert on the head piece that goes over the head and a red cable going to the audio controls (mentioned earlier). There is a faux metallic ring at the ear pieces, but it looks good and adds to the overall appeal to the unit. The sound is very good considering this is a portable headset that has ear pieces that swivel to take up minimal space in your bag. Again, this unit did better than a gaming wired headset I bought last year that had an audio jack to put into my laptop. This new unit had a significant upgrade in sound quality and volume over my existing unit. This unit is worth the money. Attention to detail and nice touches make this superior to other choices in the portable headphone (with microphone swing arm) headsets out there.
