I needed to replace my headset and wanted to get a better-quality device. A friend suggested Jabra as a good brand to try. I've been impressed by the comfort level of this headset despite the smaller size of the ear covering. The cord is a bit short for my liking, but I don't need a long one. If you need a longer reach, I suggest an extension for the cord. The sound quality is very good and people on the other end of my conversations say they hear my voice with great clarity. The passive noise suppression seems to do well to keep a neutral sound level in the room.
I'd recommend this device for anyone wanting a good quality headset.

I found the Jabra Evolve 40 stereo headset to be perfectly adequate and easy to use right out of the box. While I wouldn’t say it is the most comfortable headset I’ve ever had on, it is perfectly comfortable. The headset incorporates passive noise cancellation, and the sound quality is fine. I used it to listen to Pandora from my smartphone and Youtube on my computer. It has a built-in adjustable microphone as well as a “busy light” to let others nearby know that you are busy.
The headset comes with a separate controller that connects to a PC via a USB 2.0 port. The headset connects to this controller, and it contains volume controls, a microphone mute button, and a call answer/end call button. The headset, as noted above, can also be plugged directly into a headphone port. The online user manual states that the sound quality is better when using the controller than when plugged directly into a sound source like a smartphone, but I could not detect a difference. Both sounded fine.
I don’t think there is anything about this headset that sets it apart from comparable ones, although I did like how convenient the volume controls are on the controller. Overall, it does what it does just fine, and if you can find it at a good price, you will not be disappointed.

I was excited when this arrived, since I have been thinking about starting up a podcast. I was surprised when I opened the box to see how small it was. At first, the Jabra's reminded me of the old Walkman headphones in the 90's. I also noticed that it came with a carry pouch and can connect to both 3.5mm headphone jack or USB. Again, this was a good thing since I needed something to record for podcasting and the USB means I can directly connect them to my computer. I've been playing around with them for over a week and here are my conclusions:
Pro:
- They over both 3.5mm and USB connector. Very versatile in my opinion.
- They are light. Does not way too heavily on my head when wearing them, especially as they are fit right on my ears and does not completely cover my ears.
- Decent sound when I recorded my voice. The sound through the headphones were really good as well: clear and crisp.
Cons:
- The hinge to pivot each side of the headphones felt very loose and flimsy. When folding them to put in or to take out of the pouch seemed very delicate. Also, the hinges for the mic seem loose as well.
- Not Bluetooth capable. I use iPhone 7 Plus which means they removed the 3.5mm headphone jack. Thankfully I have the lightening adapter, but it's a task to carry that around. I wished they offered a Bluetooth version.
Overall very satisfied with this headset. It gets the job done and offers decent sound quality.

The Jabra - Evolve 40 Stereo On-Ear Headset - Black is a versatile headset that can be used in a mobile setting or at home plugged into several types of devices. The Jabra - Evolve 40 Stereo On-Ear Headset - Black can connect to a standard jack or plug into a USB port, giving it great versatility of use. The sound is rich and gives a pure stereophonic playback of music, with a total range of octaves. The leather like material ear pads has a comfortable cushion that feels great on my ears. The adjustable microphone can be moved away from my mouth and attached to the headset over the ears by a magnetic connection. The USB connector can control increases and decreases of volume, mute the microphone and disconnect a phone connection. The Jabra - Evolve 40 Stereo On-Ear Headset - Black is lightweight and comes inside a travel pouch to keep them clean and secure, when traveling. I have no negative complaints to critique about the Jabra - Evolve 40 Stereo On-Ear Headset - Black.

This pair of earphones is perfect for use while sitting at the desk. I liked them particularly for their comfortable feel and the boom mic. I participate in online meetings, so the mic reduced ambient noise from my side going to the meeting. I asked others at the meeting about the sound quality from the mic and they said it was excellent. I wanted these for use in providing webinars and attending online meetings, so they are perfect.
These are plug in headphones and so they naturally are for a stationary position. They seem to lack enough tension on the head to be good if you were walking around, They would not be a good fit FOR ME in the wireless version, but they are perfect in the wired version.

Great setup ease, to be expected I think since it is just a simple speaker headphone. The size of the ear cups are not too overly large to completely cover your ears, which is good as it allows you to hear outside surrounding sounds, good for a work environment.
The sound quality is above average to excellent in phone conversations. The sound quality for games or music is still good but not as good as my noise cancelling headphones which do cover your ears completely.
But for the intended use and audience these devices hit their mark and then some.
The headset can be used with a standard 3.5 mm jack which makes it compatible with most devices but comes with a fairly short cable. The second option is to use a USB interface that attaches to your computer, allows the use of advanced call management commands such as transfer, mute, volume, and answer/end.
I love the microphone boom because it rotates up and magnetically locks into place on the top of the headset. This gives a nice clean look when the microphone is not needed.
The build quality is off the chart, the unit is durable, lightweight, extremely comfortable on the head/ears and comes with a nice soft case.

I recently started a small business based out of my home and the opportunity to use a dedicated headset/mic for my business needs was a very welcome idea, as it gave me the ability to talk hands free while using my workstation to conduct business.
Receiving this headset I put it right to work. Set up is quick and easy. Everything about the headset is very intuitive, the quality feels nice, they look good, but that is about where the positive review ends.
This headset is not comfortable as the ear piece sits on the ear, and not around. This may be fine in a busy office so you could hear coworkers speak to you with the headset still on, but is not applicable to me.
The sound is decent. I can hear people clearly, and if you are watching a video or listening to music is does alright. They are not intended to be music headphones, but they will do the job if you need.
My real problem with this headset is the microphone sound. I used this microphone to set up my digital mailbox and when I played it back the sound was very grainy. I reattempted this several times, but the same result. I took a headset that I used for gaming and cost less than this headset with superior sound and features, and it was crystal clear. I made several phone calls to friends and family before integrating this into my business use and everyone stated that it sounded like I was driving in a car while talking to them. I was very optimistic when receiving this headset, but have been very disappointed since attempting to use it.
Ultimately, this headset will get the job done. You can talk on it, you can hear on it. But there are better and more cost effective options out there. Maybe their higher end versions are better, but I have not had the pleasure of using them.

Hello 1ShadowFox1, Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoy the style and ease of use with the Jabra Evolve 40. We want you to enjoy the rest. The form of the headset as an on-the-ear option is set, though with some changes to the headband settings can change quite a bit in the final feeling. The microphone sound quality should be top notch. As you are not experiencing that, we invite you to contact our business support team so that we can assist you to resolve it. Built for communication

This thing is built for one thing - attending meetings, and it does this job extremely well. Voice through the earpieces is crystal clear, and the other end can hear me well, and I have not had complaints about, "hey can you move your mic around".
Build -
I like the look and feel, its lightweight, yet has a solid feel to it, and does not feel cheap.
I would have preferred a more sober look than the bright orange for the connecting cable, but it doesn't look too shabby.
The USB controller integrates well with your PC, and is able to control volume. Also, I am not sure about other apps, but with WebEx it can do some other functions as well, like - mute will actually mute you in an ongoing meeting. And I mean mute you as a participant in the meeting and not just mute at your end, which is pretty handy.
The phone button also pulls up Jabber for you, or can disconnect an ongoing call for you.
Overall I am completely satisfied with the purchase, I only wish I had gone in for the Bluetooth version.

Jabra Evolve 40 for personal home use

Although the Jabra Evolve 40 is a headset designed for office use, I use it at home to talk with friends while walking the dog, doing dishes, housework or whatever. It connects directly to the phone via the 3.5 mm jack (no Bluetooth connectivity so the phone needs a jack) or to the PC (mac or Windows) via a USB port. It has passive noise cancellation which in my home environment was perfectly sufficient. The ear pieces are lightweight, comfortable and at this early stage, have held up well. The voice quality is excellent and those on the other end report crystal clear voice with marked reduction in the ambient noise that they heard when I was using a different set. Although I don't anticipate having to use the PC USB connector on a regular basis, it is a nice feature to have an includes a switch to increase/lower volume, mute the microphone and to answer a call.

I liked that they offered aux and usb connection options. The Skype meeting apI used them for was easily heard and they heard me very clear. I liked that as people walked into my office they saw the red light that shiwed I was busy.
Now for the cons: they were not comfortable for long periods of time. They would be much more useful with a wired/wireless option as I wanted to get up at times and stay on the call.
Overall a good pair for work needs but not a pair that will replace personal and work.

I have a gaming laptop a business laptop and a Chromebook. I put these headphones into all three and I was impressed with the sound. the gaming sound is hard to beat with so many 200 and 300 and $500 headsets out there but for the price this thing puts out a lot of bang. I happen to own those other headsets but this one is not a bad quick go to or loaner pair for friends whenever they come over. But I am an audiophile and this hits a lot of great highs just not all of them.

What can I say, I am delighted by how simple this is to use and plug in. I make Skype calls to friends all the time because I have a lousy cell reception indoors and it's more fun to see friends on Camera. I mean you just plug in the unit and it works. I like how the headphones are one cord and the cord build seems real strong. Audio quality is amazing too. I brought it places a couple of times to watch movies on my laptop and it worked for this purpose too. Not sure if my laptop has a Mic port but the USB adapter delivers on quality.

These headphones have good sound, and the busy light is pretty awesome so coworkers don’t go up and start talking when I’m with a customer. I haven’t had any complaints about the microphone quality.
My only complaint is they feel a little stiff on my head, but I have a large head and that may just be because these are new.

Nice Headset If It Works

The Evolve 40 is a nice headset when it works. The USB connection stopped working after 3 weeks. It was outside the Bestbuy return policy so I had to wait for Jabra to replace it. Then the replacement lasted a couple of weeks before the USB connection made a loud pop and stopped working in the middle of a call. I'm now waiting on the second replacement.
