I recently picked up the JBL Bar 500 Mk2 and it has been a night and day improvement over my TV’s built-in audio. Setup was quick and painless using HDMI eARC, and within minutes the sound was fuller, louder, and far more immersive. The wireless subwoofer is a standout. It delivers deep, punchy bass that you can actually feel, especially during movies, sports, and music with strong low end. Dialogue stays clear even during busy action scenes, which is something my TV speakers struggled with. Dolby Atmos and MultiBeam do a great job creating a wide, room-filling soundstage. While it’s not the same as having dedicated rear speakers, the surround effect is convincing for a soundbar system at this price point. It also integrates smoothly with my TV remote, and the JBL app makes it easy to fine-tune settings. Overall, this soundbar offers excellent value for the price and is a massive upgrade for anyone wanting better sound without dealing with a full home theater setup. I would definitely recommend it.

Great speaker! I can actually hear people speaking when watching movies or TV shows. Good balance, great sound. Easy to hook up. I used the eARC option.

I rarely ever post a review. So take it for what it’s worth. I appreciated reviews I’d read on this equipment. I had purchased another set that included rear speakers that were indicated as wireless which they were. However, each required being plugged in to work. I returned them. This was the next setup I tried. WOW! I can’t adequately describe the difference from the Sony setup I had. It had a center channel, two front and two rear wired speakers and decent woofer. All that was good but I’d become tired of all the wires. What’s nice too is that my TV is in the corner viewable from the dining room on the left of the “L” and great room on the right. Placing speakers was a challenge at best. There is a button to press on the remote for this equipment that causes the soundbar to calculate the shape of the viewing area. I know that it worked as the sound difference from out of the box to after that brief process was amazing. In every area you feel like the sound is for you only. I recommend this system to anyone who asks. I’ve heard others that I know were more expensive that don’t compare. When my 27 yr old son came over and saw that I had updated my sound system he questioned why. After he heard it, he kept saying he couldn’t believe it. So much better than his and what mine was. Also, while I don’t want to disturb my neighbors, higher volume doesn’t distort and you can feel the base, even at lower volumes. I am frequently amazed over the sound I was missing previously, even commercials! I wear hearing aids. Often have difficulty hearing voice over the so called background music, especially in movies. That was an important part of my decision to buy. Not disappointed about that either. SO MUCH BETTER!!! Like others, I am beyond satisfied.

I purchased this set up after having a terrible experience with a Samsung soundar and have only had it 60 days but so it is great! Pro's Easy to set up Great sound Great bass response Pairs with tv remote easily for volume control Con's Cannot adjust anything through the remote-only the app App is a little quirky and not much adjustability Overall I am pleased with this set up and would recommend and buy again. Only bad thing was when I went to the local Best Buy store, the sales person that walked up to help me was wearing a Sony shirt and only wanted to discuss Sony products. When I asked him about other brands, he qould not discuss them and quickly switched back to Sony sales mode. I have been in sales all my life but you dont start the sales process at the top of line model, especially if you are told what a budget is. As i milled around looking at other brands by myself, another associate came over and gave me his honest opinion of the comparison of the Sony model to the JBL and said he'd recommend the JBL hands down. I bought it and very happy with it.

My first soundbar. I normally get the 5.1 surround setups but just needed something for the living room better than the TV speakers that don't play sports sounds well. You get what you pay for so I spent a little more then the cheapest. JBL always has sound up there with bose so I knew it would sound and perform well. Major difference in sound of course, like going from a small old radio to a movie theater. Some claim a surround sound effect from these but I don't hear it. Bass is good, has 5 levels and I keep it on 2 for daily listening. Go to 5 if you want to blast some music and shake the room. I've heard better but from more expensive and bigger speakers so again you get what you pay for. If anyone has connectivity issues they probably aren't using the ARC to ARC HDMI connection or their TV is too old, it connects just fine and can use my TV remote. You'll need the app or remote to switch to Bluetooth or adjust bass/treble.

Once it was set up, we love the sound. We replaced a 10 year old Samsung home theater system that is starting to fail. This new JBL system bring out voices well, gives a rich and full sound especially for movies. The bass was a bit overpowering in our 15x25 ft room with the standard settings, but was easily adjusted with the equalizer settings on my phone. The setup however from the quick guide failed. The software update stopped and while bluetooth and optical cable gave sound, it had to be set up every time the set was turned off. I had to call the number found in the registration email to go further. Even with tech help it took 40 minutes to get things working. The only set up that finally worked was to put my fire stick in the input port of the sound bar, download manually the JBL app from the play store and use the add feature on the app. I also had to go into my 1 year old Samsung tv settings turn off the CEC then back on. It finally worked. So now it is great, but 2 hours to set up soured my experience.

I’ve owned multiple car audio systems, I’ve owned a JBL Charge 4 since like 2019 so I knew they were a great audio brand but I was absolutely not ready for how blown away I was by this home theater system. It’s absolutely phenomenal, right out of the box but if you want to go the extra mile, download the JBL One app and you can customize to your hearts content! Would most definitely recommend to anyone looking to get into a home theater system while not completely breaking the bank!!

Amazing sound, don’t need to look for anything else, I tried 3 other top brands but none fit on my expectations. 100% recommended Deep subwoofer ***** Crystal sound amazing for movies and music,my family noticed the difference right away, easy set up from my phone JBL ONE app.

Before this I had a Vizio sound bar with the extra 2 little speakers, after I got these I realized those 2 speakers are useles, the bass on this this is amazing and the sound bar sounds amazing, you can play music to the max volume without loosing quality

Probably one of the best bang for buck soundbar setup. The base is powerful even in a large room like i have. I only use about 1/3 the power because it can easily get a little too loud. I would recommend at this price point

Very substantial volume and bass. There's a little fluctuation in volume between scenes or medium (switching from gaming to TV, or a scene with explosions etc) but overall a great purchase.

I am blown away by the sound quality of this soundbar, the sound is amazing and the setup was a breeze, I love it, no problem with the internet connection and installation, I highly recommend the JBL BAR 500!!!

Great sound bar and subwoofer, easy out the box set up. The surround sound with the watching tv and movies is great! playing my music on Spotify is super easy and sounds great as well. One down side is that this JBL system only works with it self so can’t connect additional JBL speakers on the app

JBL is a trusted brand and truly lives up to it. The sound bar enhances the listening experience. Extremely happy with this purchase and may even buy another one in the future for out 2nd tv.

This JBL soundbar has amazing sound, and talk about Bang for your buck, you can't beat this soundbar for the price. I Would definitely recommend this soundbar to anyone who wants Great sound at an affordable price. Cheers!

Makes a bedroom sound like a home theater the bass and sound is good. Love this system, bet a football game would sound hella good in it

Very happy with this bar/sub. Great for music/movies. Haven’t even gone 3/4 up on the volume & shakes the entire room while watching movies. Easy to setup & can put the sub anywhere being wireless. Highly recommend

We really enjoy it. It will make staying in watches movies in the Minnesota winter a lot more like going to the movies.
