Bad luck as I ordered an excellent open box. It looked as it was ran hard and adjustment knobs were stripped. As always great return policy. Clearly not excellent. More like damaged

Our JBL Club 5501 peak power is at 1300 watts. The RMS is the average watts that the amplifier can handle for the speakers. (If the speaker has 4 ohms = 370W RMS / If the speaker has 2 ohms = 550W RMS) JBL

    NOT A TRUE 1500

    Posted .

i used a Dyno for this amp and wasnt expecting it to be a true 1500w when i seen it the peak on this amp which means full blast on gain and bass boost ect.. i got 1.089w I hooked it up to my subwoofer that is a jl 12w6v2-D4 and its 600w rms this amp is supposably 550w rms I hooked it up to 500 watts on a smd and the amp was getting pretty hot relatively quick you also got to think I have a competition subwoofer on a little amp if you want a true 1500 you're going to have to spend at least 300 for a new amp overall for a beginner or someone who just wants Bass and doesn't matter about really loud Bass this is perfect for you but for my fellow bass heads that want your windows to flex this isnt for you. 3 start is my rating for this amp only because of what you get for the price would be a 4 to 5 start if you could buy for 170$ i think thats a fair price anyways i hope this helped and don't let my post scare you away from it just know you cant push huge sub/subs good for 300w-500w sub or subs I may go out and trade this one in and try one more to make sure it wasn't a faulty amp but the amp seems 100% fine as far as I can tell test was today and my purchase was today.

This amplifier is awesome! It runs very cool and has very good build quality. I have it paired with a 10" kicker comp subwoofer and this amp supplies plenty of power! One thing that bestbuy doesn't tell you is that 8awg power and ground wire is recommended for the amp. Would definitely buy again and I hope this helps you out!

Lots of power for small amp

I bought this amp to upgrade from my Pioneer GMA 3602 and I do mean an upgrade. This amp is about the same size as my Pioneer gma3602 and puts out more watts. I have a 12 inch JBL sub but it's 8 ohms so the amp is putting out about 185 Watts instead of 370 Watts at 4 ohms which don't sound like a lot but I only have 4 inch speakers and I don't want to drown them out. This amp also has 2 speaker terminals even though it's a mono amp for more flexibility, variable frequency adjustment, variable bass boost and it's a class d amp. When I first saw this amp I did not hesitate to purchase it because of the price on Black Friday for $100. Wow talk about being lucky.

    Have budget, will thump.

Using these on my old nearly two decade old Kenwood BP-210. This amp gets the job done with gusto on these old thumpers. If you know what you are doing and know what to look for, the information is all there for you. How much RMS, at what ohms, etc... The adjustments are a little loose, but I have not had them bee so loose as to shift themselves. The connections for wires couldn't be easier to handle. Just loosen the screw, feed in the wire and tighten the screw down. Done. I would leave the bass booster off as it just makes the sound muddy, but everything else works the charm on mid to low power systems that you just want some more bass from subs that aren't insane.
