I would give this speaker 5 stars if it held a charge while using the light features. As long as the lights are off the speaker will play for about 20 hours. If the lights are on you get about 3-4 hours of use. The sound is excellent! Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase. I don’t use the light feature that often anyways. I use the speaker outside by the pool and it produces very clear sound and has held up well. I use the speaker daily and haven’t had any issue. The app is also user friendly.

Love it! I really appreciate the EQ to make this speaker sound even better. The Flip 6 also has the EQ feature. The lights are great and this speaker does sound a little "bigger" than a Flip 6. You can also just play the light with a fireplace sound and other outdoor sounds which is cool. This is on the app.
Only downfall you can't adjust the volume or play/pause the music from the device, so you have to use your phone to access these functions instead. From the speaker itself, you can only power the device on/off, activate Bluetooth, change the lights, or activate Party boost. You can turn the lights off on this speaker if you want to save your battery.
Now I did pair this with a Flip 6 and they sound great together.

I’ve done extensive research and watched many comparison videos and i ended up settling with the Pulse 5 vs the charge 5 and other models and brands. I’m so happy i ended up going with this product. It’s actually louder in person and does actually have a decent bass. The lights is in fact what we’re buying and i think the line up of setting for the lightsare good despite what the YouTubers say plus updates will always come out to add more later im sure. With the lights, you not only can blast some good music but you can set the tone for the vibe. $250 ish is a hefty price but ive bought more expensive things before for with less personal value, i do wish however that for this price we couldve gotten a better battery life.

Purchased this Bluetooth speaker for my 16yr old son. He's been taking my JBL speaker to his practices. Felt it was time to get his own. The sound quality is more than what I expected. Bass is not quite what I'm used to, but I have to keep in mind it's a portable speaker. Overall completely satisfied with purchase and my son (16yrs old) absolutely loves it. He says "It's like having me own dance club". Light are a nice touch, Keep up the good work JBL.

The JBL Pulse 5 is amazing to look at and use to listen to music! The different light settings are super cool and even soothing! The sound equalizer makes the quality even better! I am super glad I purchased this speaker!!!

I purchased two of these Black Friday. I wanted to pair two for stereo sound. They were 100.00 off each and couldn’t resist the deal. They sound very very good with highs and midrange being outstanding. I wish the Bass was stronger but still sound great. The light show is also amazing especially when you have two of these playing. I wouldn’t of paid full price 249.00 each but 149.00 is more realistic.

Bought it for my vacation for the eclipse and this little bad boy made a rooftop get together much more lively In downtown Austin. Not to mention the excellent battery life for extended listening sessions. The lighting effects make it a must for dark areas and camping get togethers.

Let me tell you this, this is my new shower speaker! Very solid build, waterproof and very loud for the size. App lets you control the light show which is pretty cool.
Might have to get another one to sync them around the house

Another good product by JBL, but let's be honest. This speaker's cool because of the lights. The app provides options for the lights, but only a couple are very good. JBL's XTREME, charge, and flip are all better options speaker wise in terms of sound and battery; however I can't help but enjoy the lights and the fireplace visual.

the new pulse 5 is great... all the options from the app are fun, the lights have a lot of settings to please even the most demanding... the bluetooth 5.3 version is super fast and stable like its big brother boombox 3, audio is that part for which we all really have a bluetooth speaker... I'd say it's right between the flip 6 and the charge 5... an incredible improvement compared to the pulse 4, with its new 30watt speaker and a twitter... the bass doesn't get as deep as the charge 5, and if you push it a bit it almost feels a little distorted... overall it's very good.. although the price is high like the pulse 4 was, we'll see , How are jbl sales doing with this new pulse 5... and " yes " I can recommend it for those people who feel good with the flip 6 but without reaching the charge 5... only the bass is my only problem with this device ...but it sound fine.. just one step down to the charge 5 around " bass punch "
