These are so great- I hadn't been able to track my heart rate while rowing, and these do a great job of it.

So I got these and was very impressed with the packaging. Everything was neat and tidy and the box reminded me of the higher end cell phone packaging. I got everything out and tried to turn on right away, but they were dead and needed an immediate charge. After fully charging them (comes with charging cable but no charger) it turned on and I was able to pair with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with little or no issues. It also came with a really neat case that is really grippable. After pairing I started trying the headphones on. At first, I had issues with the fit, but realized the cord goes behind your neck. Then, once I corrected that, I found that using their "twist and lock" method of putting the headphones in the bowl of your ears, caused too much pressure and pain. I took them out and replaced the earpieces with the next smaller size. This helped greatly and I was able to get them in without much issue. No more pain and they were solid in place in my ears. They don't truly go all the way into your ears, so ambient sound will come in. That is a good thing if you need to be able to hear things around you. The sound from these is very good in my opinion. Clear, defined and loud if needed. There is a good amount of bass, but if you like the enhanced bass other headphones advertise, these aren't for you. The other selling point of these is the heart rate monitor. You download their app, the UA Record app, that is used to sync the heart rate monitor in the left ear bud base. I got the app but could not get a heart rate, no matter what I did. Then I realized I had covered the sensor when I replaced the earbud size. Once I lined them up as needed I could see the green sensor flashing. The app saw the heart rate and everything started working as advertised. The only issue was that the heart rate was inconsistent. It would drop out and sometimes would stop altogether. The sound never stopped and continued to play even though I got a good distance away from my phone. The heart rate monitor is just driving me crazy. I will research to determine if there is something I need to do better. The headphones are solidly made, and seemed really good at sweat and moisture resistance. I really like these headphones and think they are good representatives of both UA and JBL, with the exception of the HR monitor. Good luck and good shopping!

While overall I don't think these bad headphones, but factoring some of the issues, and performance to price point, I just couldn't fully recommend these. How well these headphones works will mainly depend on how well they fit in your ears. Properly fitted, and forming a seal, the sound is pretty good and the heart rate feature will work as intended. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't quite the case due to the unusual earbuds design. If you already have a good fitness band, you probably don't need this.
Good:
- Can measure heart rate fairly accurately
- Includes a year of MapMyRun Premium
- Includes small carrying case and multiple earbud sizes
- Integrate easily with other apps that supports it.
Bad:
- Big earbuds that may not fit exactly
- May not fit well in ear resulting in heart rate monitor to not detect your heart rate and sound to be sub par
- UA Record can by buggy
Sound:
As headphones, it does a decent job of producing sounds. While it's good, it certainly doesn't stand out especially given the premium price. It's lacking in bass and doesn't get as loud as my other headphones, and I don't listen to loud music either. I had to crank the volume on my phone and as well as max it out on the headphones. The earbuds are the biggest issue for me. These have big round buds that is supposed to form a sound seal with a small dome that fits into your ear. The idea is to twist the earbuds and lock it in. The problem is that, for me, it doesn't fit that well. I tried all the sizes (4 included), with best result being the smallest. While it isn't loose enough to fall off while running, it's not quite locked in either. A light tug and it would come out.. Without the perfect fit, the sound suffer as if they're next to my ear rather than in them. If I push them in and hold them, the sound is much better. This also affects how well the heart rate monitor works.
Fitness device:
As a heart rate monitor, as stated, is fine if it sits properly. I have yet to have it work first try. I always need to adjust and push it against my tragus (front of your ear) a few times until it detects, but once it does, it remains to do so even though I shifted it back a bit. It's fairly accurate, being off a bit at times, but still acceptable. It pairs up with the apps easily and I haven't had a problem with it staying connected. In MapMyRun, it's not listed by name and you have to scroll down and select it as heart rate device.
I had issues with setting up the UA Record app at first. I could not create an account through the app. It kept saying I can't register at this time so I had to do in on my computer. When I was linking it from other apps, I tried to enter my password but it kept directing me to FAQ or privacy statement. After doing most of it on my computer, it was fine. The app provides good amount of info. The work out tracking is essentially the same as MapMyRun. I link it up with my fitness band and MyFitnessPal to track everything else.

Zero Comfort, Poor Sound, and Heart Rate Off

I cannot recommend these Under Armour (UA) earbuds. They are simply too uncomfortable. These earbuds come with four sizes of "sound enhancers", or tips, to fit different size ears. Despite following the directions and trying all four sizes, I could not find a size that made these comfortable. I ended up settling with a different size in each ear, but after several minutes of use, they are too uncomfortable and actually start to hurt my ears.
Sound quality is very poor. The sound from these earbuds offers little depth almost no bass. With the poor fit, my ears are not sealed off completely and this makes the sound even worse and very tinny. I can also hear too much outside noise. I know the idea is to be able to hear what's around you. This is very important, especially for use outside on roads and sidewalks. But these earbuds allow so much outside noise, I have to turn them way up just to hear music.
The heart rate monitor is off compared to my watch and other set of heart rate monitoring earbuds. My resting heart rate was measured 14 bpm higher on these UA earbuds than on my watch and other earbuds!
I also noticed a few other issues: the cord is almost too short and the three buttons on the wire are too far behind my head and awkward to use.
Connection and setup were easy however, and I like the Under Armour app a lot. It has several good features and a good interface. But you don't need these headphones to use the app. You can use any heart rate monitor. Also, these earbuds stay in my ears. So at least they have that going for them.
I have another set of heart rate monitoring wireless earbuds that blow these away. The other earbuds I have are very comfortable, the sound is incredible, and battery life is very good. They are so comfortable that I wear them as my main earbuds at work. These UA earbuds definitely do not even come close to competing with my other set. My other earbuds even connect to the UA app.
So I cannot recommend these to anyone, as there is a much better option out there at the same price point.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. In order to ensure the best heart rate accuracy, it is important that you are using the proper size and the headphones securely fit in the ear. The size 7 enhancer is pre-installed on the headphones and 3 additional sizes (5, 6, 8) are available in the box. Often times the most accurate signal is achieved by using the largest size that fits comfortably in your ears. Once you’ve found the right size, it’s important to ensure that the enhancers are properly installed on the ear buds so that material is fully stretched over the bud and the window for the heart rate (HR) sensor is not covered. More helpful tips for getting the best results: -Insert the earphone into your ear so that the green heart rate sensor on the LEFT ear bud is fully hidden inside the ear (behind your tragus). -The ear loop should not be pushed backwards to align with arc of the ear perfectly; it is likely there will be negative space between the headphone loop and your ear. If you’re still having issues after trying these tips, please contact us at [email protected] and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to further assist you.

First I want to let you know that I have used these for walking instead of running. Overall, I would say these are a great set of headphones with a couple of issues.
Good -
1. Easy to set up and load the software
2. Heart rate is easy to connect and you can check on your heart rate during your exercise without looking at your phone. Just tap on the right earbud.
3. Sound clarity for calls is great.
4. Bluetooth connection is great. Connection is smooth and continuous.
Not so good -
1. It's hard to change the ear 'enhancers'. The one's that were preloaded on the earbuds were too big for me. It was a little challenging changing to another size. There are 4 sizes in the box, so anyone should be able to find one that works.
2. The instruction book was in tiny print. For those of you like me who are of an age to need reading glasses, bring out your strongest.
3. The heart rate monitor can be kind of picky to get it connected. I was able to connect mine easy the first time, but I lost the connect halfway through my walk and had to remove and reinsert the earbuds to get it back. Annoying but not a deal breaker.
4. The sound for music doesn't have much base.
Bad - No bad
Overall, these are great headphones and I would buy them again.

Jbl - Under Armour Sport Heart Rate Wireless In-ear Headphones
My first thought when seeing these earbuds was that they were expensive considering they were not the noise canceling type. But after testing them out, I really think they may be worth the price if you like to track your heart rate during exercise.
The sound quality is excellent from nice bass, full mid range, and sparking highs. Getting them to fit properly took a little work. I had to change the "enhancers" as JBL calls the silicone ear pieces that come with the earbuds (in four sizes). It's guesswork to find the best fit, and the instructions for changing them are poor, which is to say, the technique is difficult as described. I found it easy enough to remove the enhancers, but VERY difficult to replace them using the method in the instructions.
TIP: it's MUCH easier to roll the edge down (like a pair of socks), install them, and roll the edge back, rather then try to pull them over the earbuds.
I found the heart rate monitor better to use than the one on my watch. Just touch the right earbud to hear your heart rate. Much easier to keep your focus when running or on the treadmill or bike!

First the good: Comfortable, secure fit. Good sound quality. Long battery life. Reliable connection to my phone.
Once I selected the correct size earpieces from the options included in the box, these headphones stay in place comfortably and securely.
The sound quality has been good. Not fantastic like top-tier or studio headphones, but it certainly met my expectations for a fitness oriented product.
Also, the battery life has been great. I have been out for several multi-hour runs on a single charge.
The downsides for me were with the heart rate monitor and noise management.
I was able to get the headphones to pair with the UA Record app and it successfully tracked my heart rate, but the app is just crazy busy and counterintuitive to use. The instructions suggested that the heart rate feature will work with other apps, but I've not had much success.
Also, these are not specifically noise cancelling or noise isolating. In particularly noisy environments, it's a bit hard to hear and (on calls) be heard.
Overall, a good product that I'm enjoying, but a few downsides that keep me from giving all five stars.

Decent headphones, ok heartrate

I found these headphones to be decent quality bluetooth. The design stays in your ear, but you need to pick the right insert. I found that my left ear needed a different size than my right. Also - I found that selecting a bit undersized worked for me (I think my ears swell after a mile or two). They seem to ensure long enough for most events, and stay in my ear better than other sport headphones.
The heart rate is hit or miss. I have trouble with most of these sensors, so I'm not too surprised. I think the key is maintaining a tight fit to ensure you get a reading. The only sensor I've had any consistency with is a chest strap, and I highly recommend getting a watch/device with a chest strap if you're serious about heart rate. This might pass in a pinch, but I wouldn't rely on it for interval training. That said, it's nice to have that sensor in addition to an excellent pair of headphones.
Overall, I like the headphones, and the out of the box extras help make these a decent value.
