Big sounds in just the right size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty sound packaged into an easy to carry and really portable speaker. It is charged via USB C and a has an Aux input underneath a pretty decent rubber cover, so using this in the rain or potentially in the pool area looks like a pretty safe bet. I love the volume knob on top; it is easy to just turn versus looking to see exactly where the volume buttons are on other outdoor speakers. The other buttons include a forward, back and equalizer setting cycler. The volume button when pressed down is the play pause/button. The light bar is customizable in the app or you can turn it off though I really like the light. There are 6 different presets that change the light patterns, then you can adjust the brightness, speed, how many colors (up to 7), and which colors are used. The bass sounds great and is on the bottom, which is set off the ground with bottom portion of the speaker having a design that allows the bass to flow no matter what the surface you set this on is (besides water or something similar I suppose). Overall, I am really impressed and happy with the sound and speaker. We have a much larger speaker for outside, but this one gets just as loud and sounds just as good so has become the go to.

Looks great. Sounds quite okay.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had one of the few first Jlab earbuds and Jlab have been so much better since then. These speakers build are made of very good quality. The construction is durable, the materials are of high quality, and even the overall design is solid. But like any other speaker, the sound is what is the most important. And that’s the challenge of this device, the sound quality is a mid. BUILD AND DESIGN Connecting is easy, though there is the app which I will discuss in a few, but straight Bluetooth mobile phone connection is easy. The buttons on the speakers’ top feel good to touch and it’s icons are easily visible and recognizable with a good amount of feedback on presses--- they are very responsive. So pairing, next tracks, EQ can easily be adjusted. There is even a volume knob, which is nicely made too. It is smooth and easily accessible making any sound adjustment done in a breeze. I think this knob is a win. The lights were cool; I had options to change them in the app. PERFORMANCE This is where this is most important though, the SOUND. Straight from default settings, the speakers were very imbalanced. The sound is not desirable at all, my wife had to ask me to turn it off. The mid range was way too overpowering so the sound was more noise than pleasant. Upon downloading the app, there was a firmware upgrade which was good that it updated the sound. It sounded more balanced however quality still was just so-so. In order for it to sound decent, I had to put the EQ on bass boost eq so the mids and highs were a little more at on the same plane with the bass. I can't go higher than 65% without distorting the sound. Even with high quality sound files, the sound at high volumes is rough. I can do custom eq but it doesn't make the sound range wider. Especially outdoors, I cannot really turn up the volume without the quality suffering. These have the option to daisy chain multiple Jlab party speakers. I have a feeling multiple of these could work well. Overall, the speakers look good but they do not sound as good as it looks. I am not sure if another firmware can fix the quality but internal hardware to me seems a little weak, so I am not sure if the sound output can be wider. These can be good speakers indoors, playing at decent 50-60% levels. These may work well with its other speakers—maybe one day I can try. Other than that, do not expect too much of these as a stand alone.

Easy setup, looks great, sounds great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s not much to say about this speaker except that it works great. Setup is a piece of cake, taking my 10-year-old granddaughter less than a minute to pair it with her IPad. The sound is excellent, being very clear and crisp with a deep base (her mother is always telling her to turn it down). The colorful display (which she describes as “rainbow colors”) is fun, especially for a 10-year-old, and whenever she has a party or just has her friends over, she’s got something cool to go with it. Like everything under the sun these days, the speaker can be controlled by a phone app. My granddaughter can control it from her IPad. You can control lighting effects, equalizations, etc. To my mind, the lighting effects are secondary concerns. You buy a speaker because you want good sound. You don’t spend a lot of time looking at it. Yes, it’s nice that the colors can flash to the beat of the music, so I can see it for parties, but I’m perfectly fine with a good-sounding speaker no matter what it does or doesn’t look like when I just want music for me. This speaker fits that bill to a T.
