This is a great historical series. I loved it so much when HBO aired it I had to buy it to wash over again.

Definitely a fascinating series. not exactly fun to watch.

First of all, I do not currently own the set. I have only watched it on HBO. My wife and I absolutley love this 7 episode set. We watched it on HBO and may buy the set when it comes out. Regardless, the story that it tells is classic and deserves at least a shot by any doubter. Paul Giamatti is a Grade A actor that does a fantastic job. The thing that most impressed me is how close this show followed history. Also, I couldn't get over how close the actors looked to the real images of our founding fathers. Honestly, I could not be any more satisfied with how this 7 episode set played out.

Based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book means something. That same author wrote 1776 about George Washington, and his attention to detail is astounding. Paul Giamatti performs the role of John Adams with such precision that at times, you wonder how close to reality he comes. Laura Linney makes an incredible addition with her role as Abigail, and the interaction between husband and wife is superb. All in all, easily one of the best HBO specials to ever reach DVD and should be in every DVD collection, even for the history-challenged.

After watching this miniseries for the first time, it made me more interested in history, and in the stories of the Presidents of the United States. I have watched it multiple times since. I had purchased my FIRST copy of the JOHN ADAMS series when it was first released, and had also given it as gifts to many family members/friends since. This purchase was for the Blu-ray version....to add to my collection. The 'extras' in the package are wonderful. My favorite is the feature called 'Facts are Stubborn Things'. It is an 'optional' (but recommended!) feature in which, when activated, will pop-up tidbits of additional historical information throughout the series. Superb acting, stunning scenery, just fantastic all the way around!

Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney head up the cast of this HBO hit "John Adams". From the colonial deterrence to the Revolutionary War and beyond, I truly felt absorbed in the plot and drama throughout the entire miniseries. Mr. Giamatti has never disappointed me before in a movie or miniseries (Cinderella Man, Sideways, The Illusionist--he even helped make Lady in the Water passable) and his portrayal of John Adams was equally satisfying. Director Tom Hooper did a fantastic job as well--a purchase worth every penny.

If you didn't see this on HBO then I highly recommend you buy it when it comes out on DVD! If you like to learn about American history and our Founding Fathers then you would absolutely enjoy this 7-part series featuring our first Vice President and second President. It portrays John Adams as a man, a husband, a father, a delegate, and as a politician. It also accents how crucial and influential his wife, Abigail Adams, was in his life. You will absolutely love this!! I got excited everytime I watched it!

Watched the seven-part series and will buy the dvds. But why do we have to wait soooo long? My vhs tape will be worn out. Everyone was great in this and I loved the verbal back and forth by all. The ending was atleast a box of tissues worth. Just terrific. Have read the book and am reading Abigail's bio. Have also read some of their letters to each other on Masshist.com. Some great stuff!

John Adams is one of the best mini-series ever. The writing, acting, directing, costuming, set design... EVERYTHING is top notch. It's not wonder it won so many Emmy's.

I have seen this on HBO and am planning on buying it when the video comes out. I have also bought the book. I love the way it captures the influence of every state and man in our countries birth and the influence of Abigail Adams on her husband. If you have not seen it, then you must buy it...I would even recomend it for American history classes in school.

Best historical series ever. If you want to know how America actually came to be the diverse democracy we are, this is a must see. We started out to watch 1 section an evening and ended up watching 2-3. Incredible program.

This is my favorite Paul Giamatti performance. I generally like him anyway, but it was quite remarkable how his speech pattern and style changed to fit the character. The movie does a good job of bringing history to life in both the acting and story. Tons of emotion too.

An unflinching look into our nations history as seen through the eyes of its founding leaders. John Adams is an achievement that can only be compared in authenticity to that of Rome. Thanks again HBO for offering the audience such a powerful and historically accurate tale of intrigue. A definite must for any history buff.

I would put this mini-series right up there with Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon. Cinematography was great, acting was fantastic. And to top it all off, its a great history lesson. After watching this it was hard to believe how corrupt our government has become.

Based on the writings of David McCullough, this HBO miniseries is a wonderful example of historical fiction. This is one of the better series I've seen.

All around one of the greatest mini series this year. You miss it your going to miss out on the water cooler talk. I recommend this along with the book.

Amazing performances by the whole cast, with a particular praise for Stephen Dillane as Thomas Jefferson and Laura Linney as Abigail Adams. Production value is great. My only gripe is with the video on the Blu-ray disc. There is very little grain and a lot of edge halos present. Still worth it over the DVD, but don't expect it to wow you as much as say, Game of Thrones.

This series will captivate you from the very first episode. I've learned more about history than all my years in school. It's soo good, I bought another set for my family members.

My husband got this for Christmas - we watched the whole series in one sitting - it was truly entertaining as well as very educational.
