Joker is one of my most favorite films. This is a right step for DC and WB, except WB learned the hard way, not to mention they did believe in this film that they sold a good amount of the profit of the film to those who did and came back to bite them after proving that when you let directors make films the way they want with no studio meddling (JL & SS for example) it can be very, very successful. Not all films are meant to be pg-13, unlike what other filmaking companies force them to be. Comic books can be very graphic, and that is one of the reasons why some are very popular. I really hope WB and AT&T learn from this so that the DCEU and other DC black label films can give the best for us, the audience.

This is an incredibly important film. A great commentary on social issues and an in depth character study of what could happen. So well made on every level from direction to cinematography and lighting to the amazing performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It's just excellent on all levels. The 4K transfer is exceptional as well. Sharp and detailed with great depth. It's not a rainbow of colors type of film, but the colors that are there are beautiful. Very near reference quality 4K transfer. Certain scenes are reference quality it's that good. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I was a little skeptical going into this movie, especially because many of the reviews focus on how violent it is. But after watching it, I came away very pleasantly surprised. It didn’t seem nearly as violent as I pictured and instead was a brilliant movie that shines a light on both mental illness and how society responds to people with mental illness can contribute to horrible consequences. The acting was great, the story was well thought out, and I highly recommend it.

Although I’m not a Joaquin Phoenix fan per-say this is a strong performance. Refreshing to see an original take on the Joker character which in my mind is increasingly challenging to accomplish these days. For me the strongest plus for this flick is it’s realism. Considering Joker is supposed to be a mad man pretty much everything here is realistic. Unlike superhero movies here we have no super powers, no freaky magic. The audience can buy into all that’s happening. Although I’m sure those old school directors that complain about the over-the-top superhero films are unlikely to watch Joker I’m willing to bet they would see it as true “cinema” if they were willing to give it a chance. It’s artsy-fartsy enough for their rigid parameters of film. It’s not perfect but if prissy theatre types can suspend their preconceived notions about comic based characters they can enjoy Joker. That all said although I enjoyed it and appreciate it’s quality it’s not one of my all-time favorite movies. Neither was End Game and I love live-action superhero stuff. I imagine comic book nerds(which I’m not) may be all over the place with Joker. See it and decide for yourself. It’s worthy of purchase.

Joker is dark and gritty and I would not expect anything less from the character. I was skeptical about this movie when it was announced thought it was a stupid idea a Joker origin film. But Todd Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix and all the crew pulled this movie off masterfully. No one saw this coming not even Warner Brothers I wanna commend them for taking a risk with this and with the R rating that paid off billion dollar box office performance! If your a fan of DC or The Dark Knight Trilogy or the 89 Batman Joker is for you. Give Joaquin the oscar!!

Never before have I watched a movie so artfully crafted and we thought out until this movie graced us. On top of that this exclusive steel case edition makes owning what I consider to be the perfect movie feel even better as a collector. I highly recommend this movie to anyone and this edition of it in particular.

I'll admit that because of the media-hype prior to the cinema-release of Joker, I had vowed not to see it. It then appeared on streaming, and I buckled; I am glad I did since this was a revelation! When it was then on sale at Best Buy for a ridiculous price, I had to get it and again; I'm glad I did; it is one of the best-looking discs I've ever seen. The movie was shot digitally, at resolutions ranging between 3.4K and 5.8K and was mastered at 4k, so this film is TRUE 4K and it shows; the contrast, color-gamut, black-levels: all reference-level. If you enjoyed this film, this is a disc worthy of Phoenix's performance!

The Joker was the most Oscar nominated film this year (11 nominations), and it's easy to see why. Joaquin's performance as the Joker will amaze you, and he should get the Oscar for Best Actor this year. The film has so many layers to it, it's a current reflection on the viewpoint on how we treat mental health issues in the United States today. It's a cautionary tale of what we can expect if we continue down our our current path of the rich taking everything and leaving the poor fighting for scraps. On top of this it's a great movie and the rise of the Joker. You can't beat the 4K presentation too. Highly recommend this film, it's great better with each repeated viewing.

As a long time comic book reader, I had zero desire to see this movie. The idea of a Joker origin movie flies in the face of the character (whose unknown history is a plot device in many stories). However once I watched it, my mind was changed. The movie is amazing and haunting. The story is told in a way that leaves the viewer wondering how much of the story is true, and how much was imagined in the Joker's sick psyche. That being said, if the movie was not about the Joker, it would still be an incredible study on the criminal mind. It reminds me of Taxi Driver in many ways as we watch the protagonist sink deeper and deeper into madness. Not for the kids!

This is not about the movie but about pre ordering from BB using the app or website. Pre ordering movies is the best way to guarantee getting these great steel book editions at a discounted price when released. And add a bonus perk, 8-10 times the movie arrives on the Saturday or Monday before it's Tuesday release date. And with it being hard to sit down and watch a movie during the week, I don't have to wait and look at it for 4 days to watch.

Joker was an amazing film, both for fandom and for those seeking movies with a point. Anyone idolizing Joker by the end missed that point. This is the story of a vulnerable person, failed and abandoned by the system meant to help people exactly like him. As his mental health deteriorates, a movement forms around him, not because he seeks to create it or even cares about such things, but because he is perceived as pushing back against that same system that is failing them all. Joker pulls no punches and makes no apologies.

Unlike the past "comic book" based movie adaptions, this one could have existed and won awards (well deserved) had none of those comics ever existed. There are action scenes, but not massive fighting battles. There are costumed (anti) hero's, but not elaborate high tech costumes or weapons. This is a true cinematic, believable type of film, which portrays one mans descent into his own mental illness, which results in a dangerous, and deadly outlet for his pent-up anger. A movie for those who don't care for the big-budget comic type of super-hero movies, but it will appeal to some who love those type of films as well.

WOW. A must see, must watch! Go out and buy this movie right this instant! Phoenix gives the performance of a lifetime and this is exactly what the superhero universe needed. A stand alone film that is not tied into the cinematic universe that is also a good film. Just a breathe of fresh air for me, and I am not one to enjoy or see many superhero films. Touches on some sensitive subjects but you should know going into this that the joker is not a very happy character. Overall great

You might think that this would be dark and macabre - and it is. But the best thing about this film is that is has depth. It's not just your typical action/hero film. We get to find out how the Joker character came to be. Through a series of events we see the forces that shaped Arthur Fleck,( Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix) into the criminal that he became. Joaquin's performance is outstanding. On the one hand you can have empathy fro the character, but at the same time you realize that he has become evil incarnate, and he must be stopped. It's a worthwhile movie to watch!

Although the movie itself has been divisive, Joker will remain a step forward in the journey of comic book inspired cinema. Following in the footsteps of The Dark Knight, and Logan, Joker stretches past it's well known roots exploring themes of modern apathy and mental illness. Drawing heavily off of films like "Taxi Driver" and "The King of Comedy" Joaquin Phoenix brings a commanding presence to the titular character and lifts the film past it's shallower handling of some of the movie's underlying themes. The steel book as always looks great and includes every format you would want.

I'm not a great fan of comic book, super hero action movies. But reviews convinced me to try this one. This is not about super heroes at all; there are none in the movie. It is instead about how the Joker became the villain. It is told in an, unfortunately, believable way. There should be a lesson here about how to treat others. There are multiple layers of mistreatment on display that unfold throughout the movie. Joaquin Phoenix does a great job in his role. The visuals and soundtrack suck you in to the story rather than blast you with over the top action. Well done!

Joker 4K Bluray is without a doubt the best 4K Bluray disk I own. Although this movie is very dark the colors are outstanding. From the brightest reds to the blackest of blacks especially while using Dolby Vision. The Dolby Atmos is great sounding although in this movie it is not used to it's full capacity as it is in movies such as Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan. The movie itself is fantastic showing Arthur Fleck's transformation from terrible stand up comic to crazed criminal Joker. Joaquin Phoenix deserved his best actor Oscar. Hope Joaquin does a sequel.

Joaquin Phoenix is as good as a Joker as Heath Ledger but for totally different reasons. This is a great looking movie. It looks amazing. Tons of razor sharp details in it. Clothing and scenery is impressive. Has a noir 70's, very modern retro vibe. Dolby Vision and HDR helps with color pop while keeping a natural look. This also comes in Dolby Atmos so you get an nice immersive experience. Very impressive audio mix. This 4k format gives you the best visual and audio experience available.

Am I supposed to review the DVD itself or the movie here??? Meh, I'll do both. The move: Holy cow, this movie is an emotional rollercoaster. If you like dark films, the "batman" story and wanted to see how the other side lives, this is it. Joaquin Phoenix, whose first name I still have to look at the box to spell correctly, did a an awesome job. I've watched this several times and still love it. I've never before heard someone laugh and have it make me feel so despondent. Watch this film! The DVD: It worked. Thumbs up.

MOVIE REVIEW: (NO SPOILERS) Whether you view it as events that are actually happening (albeit from a warped perspective), or rather delusions from a deranged unreliable narrator, the movie completely goes above and beyond expectations in every way. From Joaquin's chilling performance, to the haunting soundtrack following him through it, "Joker" will definitely land as one of the best Live-Action renditions of the "Clown Prince of Crime" to date. Every moment you'll be on the edge of your seat unsure what's coming next, and by the end credits, you'll only be wanting more.
