    Love the nearphones

For someone used to earbuds, the nearphones option is a very cool idea. I really like that they don't go into my ear. The tiny speakers do a wonderful job of sending sound where it needs to go but yet I can still hear the environment around me. This is ideal since I need to hear the bell telling me someone has entered my store. If this is the case, I can then pause the music or book I'm listening to so I can assist my customer without having to find my phone. My hair is long enough that no one actually sees these. They fit on my ear like an earring cuff. There not heavy considering their size. I'm a person that when I try new earbuds, they all make my ear sore for a short period of time until I'm used to them. These do the same and I expected no different. It's just the way my ears are. I like that I can wear one at a time and it can be either the right or the left cuff. The button behind the ear works for play/pause, answering calls and other functions depending the on the number of presses. They fit around my ear perfectly and they don't move or slip at all. The sound is very good! It's quite surprising that it sounds so well without anything sitting on or in the ear opening like earbuds or over the ear headphones that don't let you hear the surroundings. I know with time, the soreness will be gone and they will feel like I'm wearing nothing on my ears at all. The battery life is so good! I've only charged the case a couple of times and I've worn the nearphones for hours at a time and I remember them giving a battery low tone. I wasn't disappointed with the battery life when they let me know they were low. I felt like they were due to be low. I'm very happy with these nearphones and would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

I like them but they're not for everyone

Conclusion: These are not for everyone. These are open-ear headphones for the people who want to listen to their music/podcast, but also want to be able to be aware of their surroundings. I like them, but I don't have the same taste as everyone. These are not for the person that needs to tune out the world. You'd want these going for a walk or run on the street and want to know if anything is fast approaching you. Fit: The earphones hang well on the ears; however, putting them on at the beginning were a bit challenging, sometimes confusing which way is which. As you get used to them, they feel OK and can withstand being on your ears for a long duration of time. If you wear 1 or 2 pairs of earrings on each ear, the earphones can be positioned so that they do not touch the piercings; however, if you have multiple piercings along your ear, it may be a bit irritating as it will most likely touch and cover some piercings. Because the earphones “clip on” to the ear rather than being inserted into the earhole, they are comfortable to wear and do not fall off when doing mild activities (walking, light jog). However, they may not be a good fit for someone who is into more extreme activities that require a lot of head rotation (sports). Appearance: The overall look of the earphones definitely gives the illusion of wearing some type of futuristic jewelry or ornament on one’s ears. They add a fresh look without the pain of putting the earphones directly into the ears. Sound Quality: Because of the intent for the earphones to be “hanging” rather than being directly in the ears, the outside noise of the surrounding will mix with the sound of whatever is being played on the earphones. For example, if you are listening to music, you will still be aware and attentive to outside noise because these earphones are not noise-canceling. They allow the user to hear music while experiencing the surroundings, similar to cafes where there is music playing amidst the bustle of people coming in and out, sitting down talking, etc. The sound coming through the earphones are clear, though, so if you are in a quiet setting, it can be a good way of listening to whatever it is that you want to listen to.

I use headphones / ear buds basically every day, so I go through some sets and like to try new types and tech when I can. I have never tried this type with open/over or outside the ear canal so here are my feelings and reviews after trying these for a while. Set up out of box is simple, charging is fast, battery life is great so far. The sound is good, not ready to call it great as compared to some of my other ear buds, however, they are more of the in ear type with active noise cancelling, which these definitely are not, so I wont try to compare them to something different. That said, the sound is not lacking at all and does have a few sound customization settings for more or less bass and treble/high end. These being over/outside ear, you do hear ambient sound still from around you. This is fine and appropriate for some situations and settings. I like that while working so I can stay more aware of surroundings and to stay safe and available to co workers conversation if needed. I do not like them for use at the gym, as I like to get in the zone so to speak, so for there, I like the noise cancelling buds, so I only hear my music. I noticed using these in the gym, I still hear the gym playlist and people talking and clanking weights. The one con I think that made me go 4 stars is the fit. They do fit, but being over open ear type, they are hard to get used to how they feel when wearing them. I am getting used to it, but they kinda feel loose since they are not inside the ear. I find myself re adjusting them to make sure they are still properly in place. I suspect I will get over that, or do it less, the more I use them. Good option for those who seek good sound, functions, good phone interface and still hear ambient sound.

Clear Sound, light on ears, clear outside sound

These earbuds are a new design from traditional in ear wireless earbuds. The nearphones (near headphones I guess) clip around the outside of the ear like an earcuff earring. They do not stick in the ear or go over the top of the ear like others. They are easy enough to setup out of the box. They come with a charge but I'd recommend plugging in to make sure you have a full charge before first use. In the box are the nearphones, charging case, charging cord, and directions. (no charging block). There is no app to install with this set, only bluetooth sync. The controls are not simple and will take some reading and reminders to remember. There is not an indicator to tell how much charge remains. The sound quality is very good. They are clear and easy to hear. They sit light on your ears by cupping around the outside, so they do not sit inside your ear (and block out outside sound and add pressure to your ear - this was a major bonus for me). It is very easy to hear outside sound while the earphones are in my ear so I don't feel like I'm missing anything or talking loud in public. With the earcup the fit is easy for all ears and you don't have to worry about the right size ear gel. Summary easy to install and connect to phone great fit with earcuff style and easy to hear souroundings not easy to work controls.

    Great alternative to in-ear headphones

The JVC Open-Ear Headphones HANP1TB stand out from many other headphones on the market. It took me a little time to adjust to them (I have big ears), but once I had everything set up, it was smooth sailing from there. I do quite a bit of cycling, and these headphones held up very well during my rides. While I wouldn't recommend using them on busy roadways or mountain bike trails, they’re perfect for more relaxed environments like marinas or state parks with bike paths. Unlike most headsets that offer strong noise cancellation, these headphones have an open-ear design, making noise cancellation difficult to achieve. However, this actually worked to my advantage, as I could still enjoy my music without completely blocking out my surroundings. These headphones are a refreshing alternative to the typical in-ear earbuds that are so common these days. I often experience ear fatigue or slight discomfort when using popular in-ear models (like Apple and previous JVC earbuds), but with the HANP1TB, I didn’t have this issue at all. I know plenty of people who would appreciate these headphones for that reason alone. Overall, this is an awesome product that delivers great sound, is easy to set up, and offers a comfortable listening experience. I've really enjoyed used mine daily.

    Open Air Ear Bud Accessorizing

The JVC NEARPHONES HANP1TB comes packaged nicely. They are an open ear type ear piece, which allows you to hear your surroundings. The styling is nice overall, they kind of fit like clip on earrings, it did take me a minute to figure out how to wear them. Pairing is almost instant as you take them out of the box, just select them on your device. They work as intended. I am not saying they are bad, they have above average sound quality. I downloaded the app and used the bass setting, which isn't earth shattering, but was more of the type of sound I prefer. They don't get ear bleeding loud, which is a good thing. After wearing them for a little, they did make my ears feel a little sore, since I'm not really used to wearing earrings. They do seam a little heavier than in canal ear buds. Overall the JVC NEARPHONES HANP1TB work for certain demographic. The style is earing like, which I'm not used to or my style, however, my wife likes them. They do look nice and looks like an accesory. It's nice to have a open air type ear phone, so that you aren't oblivious to your surroundings for your safety.

Good Product Fits Different than Most

I debated between 3 and 4 stars and ended up with a 4 star rating primarily because what I don’t like about the product is personal preference. To start, the JVC Nearphones are very easy to set up. My iPhone instantly recognized them with little effort. I did pair with another phone and that was not difficult but not as easy as the initial pairing. The JVC Nearphones come with a rechargeable case and USB wire. The JVC Nearphones instantly worked and properly streamed and made calls. The JVC Nearphones have a different fit to them. You still hear ambient noise. They fit different and look different and that is what I did not like. My son wore them and liked them. He felt the sound quality was good and did not find the fit strange so it’s a matter of preference. The JVC Nearphones work and function as advertised. They aren’t top in sound quality but the sound is very good for comparable products at this price point. I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend. I really like the case and it seems to hold a charge. I have used them for a few days and have not recharged.

    Great alternative to in-ear earbuds

These earbuds are really light and stay on the ear surprisingly well. If you wear hoop or dangling earrings, it might be a little annoying to hear them knocking around when you're moving or leaning (AirPods owners will know what I mean). The sound quality is decent, but takes some time to get used to, especially if you’re switching from in-ear noise cancelling earbuds. If you have tinnitus or hearing loss of any kind, the sound can be disorienting at first. I think I'm used to other earbuds falling out, so hearing the sound from outside my ear makes me instinctively reach for my ears. This will subside over time I assume and may be a quirky issue that only impact a couple people. The earbuds are made of quality materials and feel really premium when placed into the charging case with a satisfying magnetic snap. The case uses USB-C charging which is convenient and you can pair them with the JVC app to customize audio settings (but I find the built-in iOS equalizer settings sufficient). Overall, a solid pair of headphones for those looking to try something new and prioritize ear health!

    Extremely Comfortable

These JVC Nearphones came very well packaged in a nice box, with a case and a USB C charging cord. The instructions were on a folded thin paper with lots of other languages and small print, making it not easy or convenient for going through... but at least the illustrations were clear and concise. The earbuds paired easily with both my phone and laptop and tells you when one or both are connected. Navigation using the buttons could be easier - I haven't got the taps down yet, but I usually navigate on my device (volume, forward, etc.) The sound quality is very good - clear and with no background noise. The best feature of these Nearphones is how extremely comfortable they are. I put them in to watch a movie on my laptop, and when the movie was over, I literally forgot that they were in my ears. They are so easy to pop into (or hang into) my ear - much easier than standard earbuds which I tend to have to fiddle with. I have sensitive skin and these do not irritate them at all even after a couple of hours.

Decent but uncomfortable for large humans

The sound quality for these are pretty decent. After adjusting the sound from inside the app. My first recommendation is download the app. You can search your app store for JVC Headphones. Going through the QR code in the instructions takes you to the 'manual pages' but it is a few jumps from there to get to where you can download the app. It was not an intuitive track. After that, the app is pretty decently laid out and somewhat intuitive. The app I would give 4 stars to, it is not the best but far from the worst I have ever used. My biggest issue with these buds is the comfort. I have a much cheaper pair from another company that are much more comfortable. These have a hinge at the speaker side of the bud. If you are a larger human, like I am, the hinge will dig in to the skin of your ear. It is OK for short periods, but longer listening is just uncomfortable. The other set I have are flexible, they go in much easier as well. The JVC buds, I have to use two hands to get them in secure and moderately comfortable. These are not touch controlled either. Which is neither good nor bad. There is a physical button to control the buds. Just pointing it out, as I look at the buttons and the hinge as being two places the buds will likely fail in the future. Another issue I had was initially pairing the buds. I had to pair multiple times before the pairing saved. I tried this with a tablet and my phone. It could be my phone and tablet vendor and not the buds, so I did not take any tars away for this. Overall these are decent sounding, but uncomfortable for me. I can't say I would recommend.

If you have big ears, these are not the ones for us. Even at its full volume I can barely hear them and that’s because it doesn’t even reach the ear canal. I had high hopes for these
