    The Keurig K-Cafe Special Edition sure is an eye catching machine that is both sleek and modern. It has a nice mix of metal and plastic parts that look rich and stylish together. I have owned various Keurig coffee makers for years but this one sure makes a statement in my kitchen. With the addition of the frother it is larger than other Keurigs but this only make it even more impressive looking. The frother cup itself is nice stainless steel and feels substantial. I quickly appreciate the 60 ounce water reservoir with a handle for easier transport and filling. I was excited to try it’s brewing and frothing features. Keurig states that you can froth skim, soy, almond, and regular milk. I try 2% milk and it works perfectly. You can select to froth hot or cold depending on the drink you’re making. Popping in a k-cup you’ll find several brewing options. For coffee you can select 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounce brews. You can also select a strong brew via a separate button. I like this feature. After making these brewing choices you simply hit the K button to start brewing. I think the Special Edition brews hotter than other Keurig coffee makers I’ve owned which makes for a noticeably more delicious cup of coffee. You’ll also find a button for cappuccino or latte. Selecting it will illuminate the shot button which you press to make a concentrated shot of coffee somewhat like an espresso. You can also select the strong setting here. There are plenty of great brewing options on this Keurig but there is nothing complicated or technical about using this coffee maker. Keurig really did a great job of making the Special Edition simple and intuitive to use. I love this coffee makers high quality look and high quality features but ultimately I love its flexibility. The Keurig Special Edition lives up to its name. Special indeed.

    This is not worth the money. I ended up sending this back and going with a Nespresso machine that I like much better!

    Augments, Not Replaces, Current Brewer

    I have been a loyal customer of Keurig for the last 10 years. I was an early adopter of the coffee maker, as I was intrigued by the fresh-cup-every-time promise. I’ve had several machines since then. Currently, I have a K200, mainly for my teenager so that she can make her morning coffee or hot chocolate with ease. The commercials for the new K-Café Special Edition grabbed my attention, as I do enjoy cappuccinos and lattes, but have not always been successful in making them at home. My first impression of the Keurig K-Café is that it’s lighter than it looks. It’s a bit awkward to get out of the box but it’s not heavy. It feels very plasticky – not the kind of quality I’d expect from a machine in this price point. Next impression is disappointment in seeing that this unit does not have a touch screen. My K200 does; most of my previous Keurig machines did as well. Again, in this price point, I would have assumed it would have one, since lower priced units do. Because it lacks the touch screen, you also do not have features such as auto-brew. If you have a K-Carafe, that will not fit this unit either. It appears to be dedicated to coffee drink creations. The unit works as expected. It’s very easy to use; it comes with a Quick Start Guide that walks you through each step with illustrations. You can make coffee in various sizes, including travel mug size. The frother works very well – and fast! The instructions say it takes about 3 minutes, but I’m sure it didn’t take that long to see the frothy goodness for my cappuccino. The milk pitcher and lid are dishwasher safe, but it has a small washer-like whisk, which I can see getting easily lost. I’m not sure I would put that in the dishwasher. You don’t need special K-Cups for this machine. I used a Victor Allen brand Donut Shop Coffee pod for my test. If you want a stronger espresso flavor, you’ll want to use a bolder coffee, but this was good for me. I added a bit of sugar to the coffee after brewing the “shot”, then added my milk and froth. The coffee was smooth and well-bodied. Very easy to do. I would say that, if you are looking at this unit, expect it to augment your current brewer, not necessarily replace.

    The shot bottom makes a lot less than a shot of coffee. I was expecting a good strong shot. The frother doesn't froths that much, when you are gonna serve it it still has milk not frothered. You dona lot more with a manual frother. In my opinion its too expensive for what it does.

    Love the keurig while it lasted. However, after 10 months of purchasing, the frother is now only heating up the milk. No more froth. Called keurig, no longer under warranty. I didn’t purchase the insurance from Best Buy. After reading other reviews, looks like this machine doesn’t last long.

    I currently own a Keurig which is approximately 1 year old and have been very happy with its performance and quality. Enter the special edition of the Keurig K-Café which has now become top dog in my kitchen. It has a cappuccino and latte setting as well as a single shot option. The unit has a frother which works like a charm. The unit comes with a Quick Start Guide which details the units operations and controls. The guide is super easy to reference and follow. The operation of brewing a single serving of coffee is fast. Since the brewing of each cup of coffee is pretty fast, I found it best to let the milk froth during the coffee brewing process. Each serving of coffee was brewed to perfection and was piping hot. Overall I have no complaints with Keurig. The unit seems to be made fairly well and clean up is a snap. The overall brewed coffee is tasteful and served at a good/hot temperature. Keurig is worth the investment.

    Nice looking coffee machine but has a bunch of flaws and not enough keurig technology for the high price tag, star whit the water tank lid you’ll need tiny fingers and strong grip so you won’t drop the lid inside the water tank almost every time you open the tank to add more water, also the part the holds the coffee pod goes down as you open it to load the pod so forget about tall glasses or mugs, we had an old keurig the had a light at the bottom of the water tank the turn on when you turn the machine on and also flashed when you need it to add more water to the tank, also doesn’t have the Multistream technology, temperature control, ice coffee button, programmable users, function display screen or a big water tank, too many things missing for the big price tag, so not doubt I will return this keurig.
