Though this is an old movie, I still remember it, King Kong vs. Godzilla [1962]. I did want to see it again, since it was 55 years ago and was great to see how it was made, and enjoyed to see again from so long again. They don't make movies like this any more!

Godzilla versus King Kong is one of the best movies of all time. Although a lot of people think that Godzilla last and other people say that it was a draw nonetheless this movie is a great watch

This is 60s era godzilla at its best. If you have yet to see it and are a fan of the franchise its time to change that.

In 1962, Godzilla’s creator, director Ishiro Honda, pit his iconic creation against cinema’s other great beast in KING KONG VS GODZILLA. At this point, the cheese factor is pretty high, but the film retains a certain power due in large part to the respect given to both icons. Even if you’re not someone that tolerates camp, and I generally don’t, this is still a fun and breezy flick. When a submarine is sunk by a newly awakened Godzilla, the authorities are desperate to keep him from laying waste to Japan. A possible solution is presented when rumors of a giant beast existing on a island populated by a primitive native tribe reach scientists. It’s not long before King Kong is kidnapped from his island paradise and placed directly in Godzilla’s path. My main issues with the film are the pacing, which often lingers too long with human characters that we don’t really care about and the King Kong suit looks pretty shabby to modern eyes. The forced perspective rear screen projection also comes across as fairly hokey. Of course, these last two quibbles are mostly a product of their time and the budget. On the other hand, I just looked up the budget and it was a meager $200,000 so in some ways, the film is relatively impressive from that perspective. Despite these minor problems, the film is still very enjoyable. The fight sequences are engaging and thrilling despite their shortfalls and it looks like every effort was made to make a polished picture, worthy of these legendary characters. The story is essentially a melding of the original Kong story from 1933 onto the typical Godzilla framework. It’s an easy approach but it works. That they threw in a giant octopus is just bonus. The octopus fight is appropriately slimy and cool, too. The city stomping action, while not as advanced as what was presented in my recently watched GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA, is nevertheless fun and grin inducing. Ishiro Honda delivers a mostly titanic tussle in KING KONG VS GODZILLA. This blu ray is the heavily altered American version so I’m curious what changes were made, although I’m sure the newsman who essentially narrated the interludes is one. Clearly showing its age, even against newer man-in-suit Godzilla films, this flick still possesses the ability to entertain. If you can forgive some dated effects and are patient enough to get through some of the human sequences, you’ll be rewarded with a battle between icons that’s probably the best that a ‘60s era production could muster. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming American big budget rematch fairs against its low budget predecessor. Recommended with caveats.

Classic movie from the 1960's. VHS version was great and helped visuals with televisions that paired well with VHS. Bluray version is very clear on a full HD television, but VHS version looked great years ago.

I gave it a 5 star rating because Godzilla is in it but I actually do not like the movie at all kong wins which is stupid & the only reason Toho which are the makers of Godzilla let that happen is because at that time in 1962 King Kong was actually more popular then Godzilla. But hopefully with it getting remade & coming out next year March of 2020 things will be different but we will see.

In 2020 Godzilla faces Kong of Skull Island, but you can experience the original battle of legendary Titans in this Blu-ray title. It's a 58 year old movie, so not much can be expected of film grain. 1080P. Did 2.0 mono. Sound is OK, not stellar. Good fun, overall.

I have no complaints with the blu ray itself other than the fact that there are no special features. The picture quality and sound quality are great and preserve the filmic aspects which is nice. I just don't believe that King Kong would somehow not drown in the ocean but godzilla does

I was at Best buy and came across this oldie but gooodie movie. I grew up with these old Japanese monster movies. I enjoyed it as much as when I saw it on TV Many Many moons ago. This would be good for the younger people to show what we enjoyed when we were growing up.

Grew up with Godzilla and King Kong movies. Anytime I find these original movies I purchase them. It's been years since I have seen this one. One of the better ones. Added to my library. A plus was the great price.

I watched this movie when I was a kid and I was amazed, now I couldn't stop laughing, but it was still entertaining, I watched it with my 21 year old daughter , watched Godzilla drop kick king Kong and we had a good laugh. Great time.

I brought this movie because it was a classic and if you’re into the old syfy movies this is a must have. Godzilla verse King Kong was one of the first to start a chain of giant creatures to follow

I remember racing home from school to catch Godzilla week on the afternoon movie. I’d watch guys in rubber suits destroy cardboard buildings while badly dubbed soldiers tried to save the world. I loved ever second of it.

Great old movie. My son is a fan and I guess I watch to see what it’s all about…

It's nice to have this blu-ray release of King Kong vs Godzilla despite lack of bonus features and should get the new Showa Era boxset to get both the US cut and the Japanese Cut as an special feature!

Godzilla. King Kong. Two names that say it all and bring forth images of fun – filled chaos and destruction. The only question is: how many times can one watch this in a day? Endless viewing pleasure!

Put Godzilla against King Kong and how do you go wrong. Its also great to compare the special effects then compared to where we are at now and I'm a fan of both.

This movie is silly and just a lot of fun! Who doesn’t want to see King Kong fight Godzilla?! Also King Kong fights an octopus. It’s a great monster movie for everyone to enjoy!

Godzilla should have had top billing in this classic run. Kong has some silly but funny screen time. It's a nice addition to my Zilla collection.

It’s a fun movie from the early 60’s. It’s not great or anything but if you’re a fan of either Godzilla or King Kong it’s certainly worth a watch.
