This is a heavily underrated gem of a game. Deep and provides hundreds of hours of content. Backwards compatible with all the new xboxes as well.

I have been playing the game for 4 days now, I dont really pay attention to the storyline, I just like to do the main quests and the side quests. I am looking forward to beating every quest in the game. Its a very addictive game. I like the fact that you can roam around and break stuff. I dont like the fact that for some of the side quests you have to steal things, and when you steal things you either have to pay a fine, resist arrest, or go to jail. When you resist arrest it makes your fine go up, and you cant go back to that town until you have enough money to pay the fine, and if you go to jail they take everything that was in your invintory, including the weapons you need to continue.

Combat is Great!

Combat is very diverse. Unbelievably GREAT! But the role playing choices are disappointing as they make no difference in the outcome of that choice. The story is pretty good but your character choices don't really affect the outcome. Be it whether you choose one more controversial answer over the other the outcomes are the same, so if they would have married the excellent combat with the story development of each quest outcome that would have improved the game to Excellent! There is no follow through of the quest characterization. It is almost the exact opposite of Skyrim, where the combat is fabulous and much more colorful, but the choices I make in Skyrim really matter in the overall plot development.
So if Amalur would have made the quest plot choices matter more then the whole game would be 5 out of 5!

How to fill that post-Skyrim pre-Diablo lull

Honestly I had pretty low expectations for this game but ended up being pleasantly surprised. I can't really point to a somgle "wow" factor, but all of its parts go together well and before you know it, you've ended up running around doing RPG questy stuff for hours on end and having a good time in the process.
The difficulty level of Normal seemed a little soft to me, but I have maxxed out smithing and sagecrafting so my armor and weps are much better that what the shops stock. Might try using all store-bought stuff next playthrough and see how that plays.

This game is so much fun! It sucked me in during the demo. After I unlocked all of the "exclusive" weapons and armor from playing the demo I immediately pre-ordered it at my local bby!
The graphics are very rich. The story line is intriguing, and I have played about 18hrs and am still finding new areas.
My only complaint is the time it takes to navigate the menu system while in combat. This is a little frustrating because it takes awhile, but doesn't affect the combat, which is paused while accessing the menu. It would've been nicer to have a radial or some other kind of quick-select menu for weapons (there is one for potions while in combat) instead of opening menu, opening inventory, opening weapons, opening primary (or secondary), scrolling through everything I'm carrying to find the weapon I need and then hitting b repeatedly to back out.
But the way I look at it is, if that is all that I'm complaining about this far into my game, then there are no real complaints! I love it. If you enjoy games like fable, you will love this game!

Ok so been waiting in the works on this one, Great New IP, Great Art Work, and Great fighting mechanics.... Think of this game as Fable on hardcore with more RPG. I love the fact that I am one charater picking from a sort of roles i can be, and yet mix it up... FYI Warrior Mage is tight, or might want to change it up still, but dont have to restart the game fresh... I love the professions in the game as well, but thought they could use a little more work, nice thing is there pretty simple. Did have some, and i do mean some gliches with sound on a 5.1 suround sound system, and changed it to my tv, same issue, and no its not my set up, works fine with everything else... But i would all of a sudden get no sound but my swords swinging, no boxes breaking, no talking, nothing... worked out fine when restared, has happened twice.... so might have a fix down the road if a know bug.... other wise great game, pick it up youll love it
looking forward to whats next in the Amalur World...

I WAS SKEPTICAL ABOUT THIS GAME BUT FOR 5$ I FIGURED WHY THE HEGS NOT! TO MY SUPRISE I LOVE IT! THE GRAPHICS WERE A LITTLE CHEESY/CARTOONISH FOR MY TASTE BUT THEN AGAIN IVE BEEN PLAYING SKYRIM FOR 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT. IT REALLY IS A GREAT GAME AND THE COMBAT IS CHALLENGING ON HARD MODE. LOVE THE WEAPONS AND LOOTING, AND ALSO LEVELING UP IS FUN. IF YOURE ON THE FENCE ABOUT THIS GAME, JUST BUY IT. IT HAS ELEMENTS OF SKYRIM, FABLE, AND ZELDA ALL MELDED INTO ONE GAME.

MY wife and I are big RPG fans and couldn't wait for this game to come out. There are so many different things that you can do to your character, as well as weaponry and armor. The gameplay maps are long and the creatures and quests are somewhat difficult along the way, but it keeps you going back for more. So far the best RPG game I have played in a few years.

This a new IP that i think everyone should give a try. Its an open world action/rpg game with god of war combat and skyrim like rpg style. This games graphics are slightly cartooney but the gameplay is second to none I encourage you greatly to pick this up and to give it a try!

I am struck by how similar this game is to World of Warcraft except for the fact it's a single player RPG. Graphics are amazing and the story line is engaging. I might even hold off on buying Mass Effect 3 until I finish this! I'd have to say it's one of the best games I've ever played on the xbox.

The Next Best Thing to Being There

This game is superb: The graphics are outstanding, and the gameplay is smooth. Anyone recall Champions of Norrath on the old PS2? Well, it's that game meets God of War with graphics times 200! I like being able to "name" my weapon once I've built one, and the quests are endless. Mucho replay value. I'd honestly like to see more reviewers here compare & cotrast it with Skyrim, which I'm considering buying, but am hesitant, because since I have this one, I'm wondering why should I bother with Skyrim?

Great job for a first timer RPG

For the first game that 38 Studioes made, I have to say they did a great job at it. The action style combat + destiny system were excellent and key points that other RPG's can take a lesson from. With any games first run there will always be things to work on to improve such as being able to turn off the spacious sub-titles. Overall it is an Awesome game. Looking forward to the next one.

Now this is gonna make me sound like a hater for saying this but i must, first off this game takes good ideas from other games, god of war, fable, "skyrim", yet lacks originality if you ask me. Why is skyrim so great? because ts original? this game does have pros and cons, pros in my veiw are you get to pick up all types of armor and weapons with neat effects, "some" of the characters in th game are very well designed, cons in my view would be disenchanting chests and getting cursed is pretty annoying, there are a good bit of glitches as well, and last but not least CARTOON graphics are for rayman not rpgs, Skryim did so well because their graphics are oustanding and detailed. This game is the fable 1 it should have been but hey im just saying. I would recommend this to all the guys and gals who like to spend a huge amount of time on rpgs other than that i would say go buy rocksmith or better yet RESIDENT EVIL!!!
