What a great buy. After ours finally died we decided to get a larger microwave with the convection oven feature and settled on this one. The design is sleek and spacious and while only being slightly larger than our previous microwave (deeper and taller) it easily fitted the space above the oven. Because the controls are integrated on the door, it frees up more cooking space on the interior due to no control panel on the side. He microwave feature is great but my wife is in love with the convection oven and how thoroughly it heats food. This unit is very easy to operate. It is also surprisingly very quiet when operating. Even the beep tones are muted and the door closes almost silently and effortlessly. We were lucky to find a great deal at Best Buy and purchased it for lower the other retailers offered.

    Huge Improvement over Builder Grade

I have had this microwave about a month. I have the entire KA Black Stainless suite and this microwave was the last piece purchased. It looks great and the convection oven feature is really handy but does have a learning curve to it. It is not too bad to keep clean. The inside got really greasy when I cooked with the convection the first time, but it was easy to clean. Backlit keys would be nice at night. The fan automatically turns on when the stove makes the microwave too hot which is nice. It is eerily silent from the operation to the button sounds. I have baked cookies, made chicken breasts, chicken thighs and pizza so far using convection and all were great. I have mine venting outdoors (the fan) and that works well. The fan is not loud even on the highest setting. The microwave is huge but it does not look bad over the KA black stainless gas range I have. It does stick out beyond cabinets, but it doesn't look bad.

We were happy to find such a nice microwave that also had convection. It is very quiet, is nice and big, seems fairly easy to operate without reading instructions. We purchased this microwave online. Best Buy sent an email it had arrived in less than a week, so we drove to the store, let the guys out front know we were there, and they rolled it out and loaded it in less than 5 minutes. Easiest purchase I ever made. Thanks Best Buy

This KitchenAid microwave/ convection oven is a beautiful addition to my kitchen. This is the quietest microwave I've ever owned. And it is also the easiest one to use.it has all the bells and whistles and is very large inside. The hood fan has six different speeds which is very nice. It also has a sensor for popcorn the determines when all is popped. It's just a great product and I highly recommend it. You can tell it's a quality product well made and attractive.

I've been using this microwave/convection oven for about a month and I love it! It's super quiet, cooks evenly and is user friendly. The fan feature works great and is powerful enough to vent the steam from whatever I'm cooking on the stovetop. The light under the microwave illuminates the stovetop well - I always choose the bright light, but it also has a softer nightlight feature. I wish there were better directions provided for convection oven use. The convection oven works well, I just always choose manual input and enter the temperature and time on my own. I've used it to cook chicken several times and it's been delicious. It's preprogrammed with many dishes, I'll have to experiment with that feature at some point. The only thing I don't love about this unit is probably the same thing I don't love about most of my appliances ~ the sound tones were not my favorite, so I've silenced them, like all of the appliances in my kitchen and laundry room! Overall, I'm very glad I chose this KitchenAid product and highly recommend it!

Overall good, but quirky menu options

The machine itself works quite well as both a convection oven as well as a microwave and has a quality build. It can definitely heat up leftovers quickly and also make toast. The main thing about it that annoys me are the menu options. For example, to turn the fan on there are SIX levels you must beep through to go from full on to full off. I'd prefer an old-fashioned knob. The hood light is similar On-NightLight-Off, so you have to hit the button twice to turn it off. The cooking menus should have a way of updating them to realistic food. When I want to cook something I have to beep, beep, beep my way to manual mode because I am not cooking biscuits or quiche yet have to scroll past these never-will-use options just to have proper control to cook dinner. The written users manual is all but entirely pointless. Good machine when I have control over it, but poor documentation and wizard controls.

I'm impressed with how well made this looks and feels compared to any other microwave I've owned. It also more expensive but I think it was well worth the money. It is so quiet I sometimes check twice to make sure it's on. The timer bell is quiet too. I wish that was a little bit louder but that's minor. The convection oven feature is what sold me on it and it works great so far. I've only used it to bake cookies, chicken fingers, and macarons. It didn't do so great on the macarons compared to my regular oven but the other stuff came out fine. I'm sure it will come in handy during the holidays. I don't know if I would try to cook a Turkey in it but for baking the side dishes, it will free up my oven for other things.

A solidly built unit. Install straightforward. Cleans up easy, inside and out. Having a small convection oven OTC is wonderful - we rarely use our standard oven anymore, the food from this oven come out fast and tasty. 400 CFM fan clears cooking fumes fast. A bit of a learning curve for the oven and pre-set menu items but starting the microwave is one touch. Only design issues are having to press five times to turn off the fan, and it's a bit of a scroll to get to manual convection settings.

I had this installed a few weeks ago and so far I'm very impressed with it. It looks beautiful, it's very quiet and it reheats foods and liquids much quicker than the one I replaced it with. I have a lot to learn with this one though since it isn't just a microwave. The convection option, once I have it down, will be a great addition to my kitchen. I love everything KitchenAid makes, I have a KitchenAid dishwasher with the window in the door, and the 30" gas cooktop. Next on my list is their refrigerator. KitchenAid products look and perform as well as other higher end products available.

I was hesitant to buy a microwave with controls on the door, but I know KitchenAid makes great products and I wanted to replace my old Kitchenaid convection with a new one. BB had a great deal on an open box buy. I got this unit for over half off. It has some really great features like the soften butter feature and reheating food. I like that the turntable is free floating, so even when the microwave is off you can reach in and turn it to bring your food to the front if you need. It's bigger than my old one and sticks out farther, and particularly with opening the door which is wider than most microwaves. That can be a bonus though, as it gives much easier access to the cooking area inside. Not only is it bigger but I noticed that it definitely cooks food faster. It also operates much more quietly than my old one did. The touch panel seems to resist fingerprints very well and the underside lighting and vent fan are a step above. Very pleased with this model.

This is a very good looking Microwave. The handle is nice because you don't get fingerprints all over the appliance. It is quiet. It is easy to use. The panel displays what you need to do. It is very easy to use.I love the convection oven part of it. I can bake in my range and the microwave. This is an excellent purchase.

I am a DIY kinda guy and this was a very simple and straightforward install. No more difficult than any other microwave I have installed. It has been in place for a couple months and my wife loves it. She uses it as both a convection and microwave oven daily. It is quiet, cooks evenly, and is easy to use. The kids favorite part is the popcorn button, all microwaves have one but this one really works and pops all the popcorn without burning it! Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

Great Microwave fantastic exhaust fan & convection

This is a great combo convection microwave oven that has an exhaust fan that can't be beat. It is sturdy (our old LG literally fell apart after five years) that cost about the same and didn't even have the convection oven or an exhaust fan half as strong. The only complaint I have is its a little bigger than most (sticks out a bit, not a problem, and actually covers the stove better with the exhaust fan -- but did require me to enlarge the hole in the cabinets to install) and the exhaust fan on/off switch is not an on/off switch. It is a cycle thru fan settings 6,5,4,3,2,1,off button. Would be perfect if there was an on/of button and a speed setting button. This microwave is great because like other high end units it has a sensor cook/reheat that actually monitors how the cooking is going. And better yet, this sensor actually works (not like the old LG version). Convection oven works great especially if you are using your other ovens for a large meal and need to cook something else like bread or biscuits. It's large enough for a roast or even a turkey if you don't have an oven or don't have a double oven.

Install was very easy. A few measurements, a couple of holes drilled, and I was in business. The unit runs very quiet. The most quiet I have ever heard in a microwave. It looks and feels great when installed. Beautiful. Feels solid when opening and closing the door. Touchpad is very responsive and easy to use. I have not had an opportunity to use the convection feature yet, but it seems exciting!

This microwave is really good. Noise level is basically inaudible when on. Heats up food quite well. Convection is a plus. Overall really well made. I don't use it as over the range but I love the features of an over the range. The microwave looks stunning. With the glass controls. Bought all kitchen aid appliances and the kitchen looks amazing.

When we originally started looking for a microwave we were unaware of the option of having it also be a convection oven. So when we decided to buy a new appliance suite we started looking at Kitchenaid and wanted our microwave to match our fridge, dishwasher and range. The fact that this doubled as a microwave and an oven was amazing. We didn't have to compromise the size of the oven on our slide in range to try to get a model with two. We were able to get the standard oven size on our slide in and use this as a second/double oven instead. And boy does it deliver. We have baked and cooked in it and it does both just as well as our regular oven does. It is large on the inside and comes with racks for baking and a glass plate for microwaving. The microwave works great and the popcorn function is fantastic. It actually listens to the pops to keep your popcorn from getting burned. I was skeptical at first but it has worked perfectly everytime. It is features like that that show just how well thought out this product is. It's quiet, easy to operate, great to look at (the black stainless is amazing) and functions perfectly. Couldn't be happier.

We bought an expensive microwave from a company that start with L and ends with G, 2 years ago. Everything was great until it suddenly just died. To fix it would have cost more than the microwave itself. So my wife and I did some research to find a high end over the range microwave that is dependable. We ultimately decided on this one and couldn’t be happier. The build quality is all stainless steel including the interior making it look great and it’s super easy to clean. The noise is very quiet to the point that you forget it’s even running. Besides all that it works flawlessly and does a great job of anything you throw at it. Highly recommend not only the microwave, but Kitchenaid appliances in general!

I love using convection oven to bake pizzas, ect. instead of heating up the whole house with my reguaar range oven. If you have some muscle & a friend it's very easy to install.

I love this microwave. It does a great job of cooking food both convection and microwave. Easy to use, easy to clean, looks good. I did have frustration since I never had an over the range microwave before. I had to have an electrician put in a plug and no one told me the plug is on top of the microwave so it does have to be in the overhead cabinet. I originally bought from Home Depot, they make you stay home to have the microwave delivered, then you have to stay home to have it installed, you can't pick the days or times. Anyway I ended up returning the microwave to Home Depot and took my business to Best Buy. Best Buy matched the price and was awesome to work with!!!
