This dishwasher replaced a fairly new Samsung dishwasher that we just weren't happy with. I don't really have any cons to list for this appliance, I honestly love it. It is very quiet when running, and you have to really pay attention to know that its even working. One extremely annoying feature of the samsung was that it would "sing" to you when the dishes are done, by playing this musical tone. That wouldn't normally be an issue but it lasted like 20 seconds and was just beyond annoying with no way to change it, only turn it off. This dishwasher doesn't do that, it only plays a brief non-annoying tone. As far as cleaning dishes goes, this thing is a rockstar. I use the recommended Cascade Platinum pods and Finish Jet Dry with it and I get sparkling dishes every single time with few exceptions (which are usually because something wasn't put in correctly or was just too dirty) and really have no issues with cleaning. I was worried about my water pressure at my home when I had the Samsung because it was just terrible at getting dishes clean even though it was equipped with a food disposer, but it was basically useless. I would have left over soap on the door leading me to believe it was water pressure related, until I spoke with a BB employee who let me know that the dishwashers are supposed to create their own pressure. This dishwasher looks brand new every time I open it with zero residue leftover on the door. Very very happy with this purchase and every KitchenAid appliance I have in my home. I will never buy another brand again.

Excellent washer, can be difficult to start

The rack setting is streamlined to prevent water from settling in the cups and bowls if you know how to do it. The dish rack is a bit too wide so less dishes can be placed inside ... would do better to be a little narrower. The roof rack is useless so we just removed it to allow for more space for the top rack. There are enough washing options but we have only used the normal options for washing & drying thus far as that's the vast majority of our washes (we always clear food debris before putting the dishes inside.) But the one thing that prevents me from giving this product a 5 star is that half the time, after choosing our options, we would hit start (the start button lights up) and closed the door and it would beep and not functioning, apparently not liking something and we would have no idea what is the problem. The struggle can last a few minutes of canceling, then retrying, closing the door more tightly, closing the door less tightly, pushing in the racks deeper, before the washer would start, and we have yet to figure out what is the ideal way to close the door for the washer to get going right away. The manual does not help. This is a bit of a concern for us down the road if the start is that sensitive to whatever it is sensitive to. Other than that, the dishes do look nice and clean upon completion. Do use rinse aid as the manual says because the few times that we don't use rinse aid, a lot of water drops still cling all over the inside if we open it right after it finished. And it is super quiet, too quiet that the first few usage, I had to stick my ear right next to it to hear if it's doing the work! Overall, it is a nice looking washer and so far, we are happy with it.

Definitely well built and the best of the available dishwashers out there. This machine is super quiet. You really have to listen closely to hear any noise at all. You may even question if it is on. The racks glide fairly smoothly, and everything feels "solid." But, still some things aren't perfect. The 3rd rack (top tray) is a great concept, but doesn't really clean well. Better suited for lightly soiled knives/utensils. Clean by hand if you have heavily soiled items. And, the dish tines on the bottom rack should be adjustable and they're not. If you have a thicker dish or serving piece, it won't seat properly in the tines and will flop forward making it awkward to load and creating a less clear path for the water to reach all areas of the dish. FInally, while minor, there is no countdown on the front to let you know how much time is left in the cycle. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but this machine is very water efficient, and that translates into very long wash cycles. It's like"Waiting for Godot" not knowing when the cycle will end. Overall, very good. Perfect? Not quite.

Stay away from all Kitchenaid and Maytag

I would strongly recommend to stay away from any Kitchenaid or Maytag. They have a side vent, that creates moisture on the door. I called 12/28/18 to discuss and was told by Kitchenaid it was my problem since I did not research their product. I have a farmhouse sink, which the vent is next to. The condensation creates drops of water from the vent that fall onto the top of my cabinet door. As a consumer, I was told it is my fault... There is nothing in the installation or owners manual. Kitchenaid said they would send someone out. If the dishwasher was working, I would have to pay the bill. It is working and it has ruined 1 door so far. Depending on your setup, their product could create water issues. Stay Away!

This thing is so quiet I have to put my ear next to the unit to tell if it is running. Gets things clean but cycles without drying option take almost 2 hours and drying adds another hour. There is a quick cycle but this is probably not intended for truly soiled full loads. Only complaint is the utensil basket openings are not all the same size and some do not accept our table knives or soup spoon handles. Also the basket has open sections at each end of odd sized items. However this means you have to reach in further to place a utensil in the slots for regular items. Still learning how to adjust the basket configuration and load effectively. Good looking unit too. Did I say it was quiet?

I purchased this dishwasher to replace an initial faulty KitchenAid dishwasher (the slightly less fancy version, 234GPS). The bottle washers are very nice. I haven't noticed much difference with the drying feature yet. The fingerprint resistant finish is great - You can wipe it with a damp cloth and call it a day! No stainless steel cleaner necessary! It's very quiet and seems sturdy. My only complaint is that the glossy black handle scratches easily. If you have large cereal bowls like me, then this dishwasher is a better fit than Bosch dishwashers. Good luck with your purchase!

If it were not for the indicators on the front panel display, you would never know this thing was on. When she unloaded the dishes the first time after we purchased the Kitchen-Aid, our housekeeper was amazed how clean and sparkly everything was. And that is not easy to do. Years ago my extended family always purchased Kichen-Aid dishwashers, especially after moving. Some how I veered off that path. I shall not make that mistake, ever again. And I’m a big fan of German engineering and craftsmanship. But I am, once again, 100% sold on Kitchen-Aid dishwashers. Would recommend this model to anyone!!!

This is our 2nd KitchenAid dishwasher. First one lasted about 10 years. Read Consumer Reports and took advantage of the Best Buy sale to choose this model. It is crazy quite, cleans well, but doesn't dry the very best. We were excited to possibly have a great drying option without using a lot of heat, but the ProDry feature isn't 100 percent perfect. We also use tall bottles and cups and had to take out the 3rd rack to make room for them. Overall, happy with our purchase, and would certainly recommend this dishwasher. Time will tell if we get another 10+ years out of this one.

I am extremely disappointed with this dishwasher. It cleaned well the first few times now it is horrible. I have to completely wash off my dishes in order for them to be cleaned. I just did a load and the plates still have food on them. I did my research. I had an LG before which is known for breaking down. I decided on Kitchenaide as they were rated well and am now upset that it is doing such a crappy job at cleaning my dishes. I like the 3rd row and I like how the shelves glide effortlessly compared to Bosch but I want my dishes clean

    Not Happy with Dishwasher

    Posted

Bought this Kitchen Aid dishwasher due to being rated very high and made in the USA, Disappointed, middle drawer flimsy and wobbles. Cleans well and very quiet, Does not dry dishes, Dry Aid was added. top drawers plastic lids full of waters and others drawers also. Not happy with this. Have returned and purchase top of the line KDTM804ESS, Hoping the additional monies will correct the problem. Salesman was surprise it didn't dry, if this is the case why do people complain about the Kitchen Aid drying problem? If this does not work not sure what we will do. My old GE did a better job and it was 8 years old. Hoping for the best for $2000.

Hello Rich! Please make sure that you are using a Rinse Aid with your unit. Your dishwasher is designed to use rinse aid for good drying performance. Without rinse aid, your dishes and dishwasher interior will have excessive moisture. The Heat Dry option will not perform as well without rinse aid. For most water conditions, the factory setting will give good results. However, if you are experiencing poor drying performance, you may want to try a higher setting. Turn the arrow adjuster inside the dispenser to change rinse aid setting. KitchenAidBrand

We replaced our builder grade junky GE dishwasher when we heard of neighbors starting to have problems. I've had GE DW in the past and was never thrilled with them. We wanted a quiet dishwasher so we could run it and still watch TV in the next room. Mission accomplished. This KitchenAid is so quiet we had to check to make sure it was running. And we don't have to dry all the plastic when it is finished running. Love the bottle washer option and the tray on top for flat items. Very happy with this purchase. Installation was top notch as well.

It was time to replace our 15 year old KitchenAid dishwasher. Finding one that was quiet, had great cleaning ability, and versatile racks was a must. This model has all of the above - as quiet as some of the more expensive other brands, multiple cleaning cycles to wash the load without needing to prewash, and 2 full size racks with an added top "shelf" rack for miscellaneous items. Only thing to note is that the full cycle time can be 2-3 hours in order to be as energy efficiency as possible; this seems to be the new standard. Would highly recommend this model to anyone wanting a great appliance for the price.

HATE... THIS... DISHWASHER!! 3rd rack items do not get clean and you can only put flat items on it, silverware in basket doesn't get all the way clean (especially peanut butter will not come off). Don't waste you money or space on the 3rd rack, we were hoping to use it for lids, but they just collect the dirty water and do not get clean.I even tried putting my silverware on it, but it didn't get clean either and there was a film on it. I am so disappointed in this dishwasher. The one benefit is that it is really quiet.

I will not go into detail about the service, as I have written a separate review for the Geek Squad. (They were awful!) I will never buy anything again from Best Buy that requires an installation, or a delivery. This is the reason that this review gets only 2 stars. Now the dishwasher, is great. It does a great job with dishes, and I can't believe how quiet it is. I am also glad I bought an American made dishwasher, by an American company. I am a firm believer that I buy American, when possible, and if I have to pay a little more for an American made product, I will. This dishwasher is a fine product, and I will recommend it to others.

We are really liking this dishwasher. It is very quiet, and does a pretty good job getting the dishes clean. The only time it doesn't is either a loading error on my part or maybe didn't give the dried on items a rinse off. We love the top or "3rd" rack for spatulas and flat measuring cups etc. I used to throw those in with the rest and they would get tangled up. The only issue is that the upper rack in the highest position doesn't hold our tall glasses, but if we move it to the lower position, the bottom rack doesn't hold our large dinner plates without getting smacked.

Quietest dishwasher ever. Best Buy Installers were very professional and ensured everything was installed perfectly. Holds a lot of dishes. Unlike other brands, it does clean and "DRY" the dishes. It will take 2-3 hrs to fully wash and dry a load of dishes. You can stand next to the dishwasher and you will think it is not working until you look at the display and it states it it washing or drying. Dishes will be super clean. So far, so good.

It's still new, so what's not to like? I bought this Kitchenaid DW after being disgusted with my 2.5 year old Bosch that the local repairman couldn't repair after 3 weeks and 4 trips out to my house. That was my second and last Bosch. The Kitchenaid model I chose is just as quiet, dries better, and the racks are much more user friendly than Bosch. I did buy a 5-year extended warranty. Just hope I don't have to use it. I found Best Buy employees very accommodating to work with, from the sales staff to the installation guy.

The install was great the guys were very good. I didn't notice before they left there was a problem with the bottom dish rack. I am having the same dishwasher put in because we like the look and it does clean and dry dishes good. I hope the next one is problem free. We think the problem was caused during shipping and not by the installers the bottom rack would catch on something and was not smooth when you pulled it out to load dishes, the top rack was smooth as glass.

Great, quiet dishwasher. It washes and dries really effectively leaving no residue or spots. The quietest dishwasher I've ever heard, even on the toughest settings (which you don't need all the time, I normally do a "normal" wash). Has an adjustable top rack which comes in handy, as well as a third rack at the very top for long knives, spoons, etc. Stainless steel has a certain elegance to it. Makes the kitchen look better.

As someone who has owned a Kitchenaid dishwasher my entire life, I am shocked and horribly disappointed at the performance of this dishwasher. My previous KA dishwasher purchased in 2010 was fabulous. I don't understand. How can Kitchenaid go from being the best to the worst? Glasses look worse after being washed. A dusting of dishwasher soap remains on the dishes at the end of each cycle. Smudges and streaks everywhere! What happened? STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISHWASHER! IT IS BAD NEWS!
