I purchased this washer in Sept of last year. Initially, there were no problems but then after the fourth wash, the latch on the door would break/release and the wash cycle would be interrupted. No water got out and I had to restart the washer. This happened a couple of times. Warranty repair person came out and ordered new upper rails and a new door latch. He said that the issue was that the upper rack was not holding in and if you loaded it too heavily, the water and weight would push the door open and break the cycle. In fact, he said that there was a 'recall' on these models to fix the upper rails. I've not had a problem since they installed and fixed the upper rails with new ones. The service to fix the washer was great, they came out right away. Although, the first time they put the rails in, they were not totally put in correctly, so I still had a problem. By the third visit, everything seems good and I'm happy with the washer. For some customers, after sales service is important and they did a great job and were very responsive.

Really sorry we purchased this. My 12 year old Bosch that I replaced was far superior to this product. It is quiet except for the constant hum while running. Have to re wash at least 10% of everything I put in it. Third rack is a complete joke and nothing placed in it ever comes clean. Not happy at all with this purchase. It also accumulates a lot of foul gunk in the tub just under the door.

First, it is key to understand that KitchenAid warranty begins on date of deposit purchase. It does NOT begin on date of installation. For cleaning overall, it is not stellar, always find dishes and silverware that need to be hand-cleaned. Top silverware drawer is worthless, used it twice and learned that. It drys nicely. So in LESS THAN THREE YEARS, this incredibly expensive unit leaked all over, ruined flooring. Repairman said the motor - pump shot. Replacement part is a joke to get. Decided not worth waiting to repair after reading this problem in other reviews. LAST KITCHENAID PRODUCT WE WILL EVER PURCHASE.

I recently moved into a house that already had this whole KitchenAid appliance package. The bottom rack of the dishwasher is too short to wash plates or large spoons/spatulas, etc!!!!! We have normal size plates. It's absurd that people spend the amount of money which the Kitchen Aid brand represents, and you can't wash normal stuff! Horrible design. Also, on a normal wash a butter knife used to cut avocado that was rinsed in the sink then immediately put in dishwasher and started was still dirty when I unloaded the machine. It is quiet, but when you have to hand-wash nearly everything because your dishes can't fit, it defeats that purpose.

After 6 years, my $1160.00 KitchenAid dishwasher is kaput due to bad motor. Last year we spent a couple hundred getting the electronic panel replaced thinking it would last at least another 6 years. Up until now I had always purchased Kitchen Aid dishwashers, My first one was from a "scratch and dent tent sale" of a local appliance store - which lasted far longer than current one that died.. I'm switching to Bosch and never again will purchase a KitchenAid dishwasher.
