2x the cost, 1/2 the durability of old Cuisinart

I had my basic Cuisinart for 30 years. The cover finally quit latching and I searched the reviews, knowing Cuisinart was no longer the primo processor of old. The Kitchenaid seemed to fit the bill. Pros: The variable slice thickness and reversible grate disc are nice features. The Empire Red matches or coordinates with my other. countertop appliances. Processing is quiet and fast. It's easy to lock the bowl and cover in place. Cons: The push buttons are hard to operate. They don't depress easily, and require more hand strength than seems reasonable. It is difficult to remove the cover when processing is done, and I'm always afraid it will break..The plastic is fragile. I dropped the food pusher right out of the box, and a piece broke off. It still is useable, but it's kind of a bummer. I looked into replacing it, but the part is discontinued. I did buy Geek squad protection, but the way I read it, dropping a part and breaking it is not covered. The pusher on my old processor was virtually indestructible-- hard, opaque, almost rubber-like plastic. I miss it. Worse yet, I managed to insert the pusher backwards once, and it was seriously stuck. I thought all was lost at that point, but my husband managed to dislodge it without breaking the pusher or the cover. The front of the object is slightly curved. The back is straight. It's not all that obvious, at least to me, because it's clear plastic. Since that close call, I've marked the front of the pusher with permanent marker. In a nutshell, it's attractive and does a variety of food proceeds jobs well. If only it didn't feel destined to break, I'd be a satisfied purchaser.

    A kitchen must have!

I got this for Christmas and I can't believe I got along without it all this time. It made quick work of shredding zucchini and chopping nuts to make a favorite quick bread. I am looking forward to using it often. I cook and bake a lot and I can see how this will greatly help me in the kitchen. It is very sturdy and heavy duty enough to last a long time.

    Great Product

I have bought many low end food processors before and every one has broken with minimal use. So, I sucked it up and bought the Kitchen Aid this time. WOW. My biggest complaint is still the price but wow it works fantastic. The blades are super sharp. The power is strong enough for any job. I have been very, very pleased. I am now looking for reasons to pull out my food processor instead of saying, "It's just a small job... I'll chop it by hand."

    Good Quality

If your used to heavy KitchenAid counter appliances, this may disappoint you just a bit. I added this to my collection of: Stand mixer, Coffee maker, and Blender (All KitchenAid). Even though the finish matches he other appliances, the actual food processor body is plastic instead of metal as I would have expected. Still, I have used it several times and find it to have the same high quality. It's easy to clean and very handy.

When I decided to purchase my first food processor, I decided to try the Kitchen Aid model due to previous satisfaction with other products made by this company. As a "beginner" with kitchen tools I found this processor very user friendly with the accompanying instructions and so many examples of videos I could find on social media of experienced users. Along with the savings offered by Best Buy coupons and discounts, this item delivered a Big Bang for the Buck!!!

Finally something which works as allrounder

    Posted .

We had a magic bullet which though was fine for small grinding and blending; was not sufficient for anything more. So we were looking for something more powerful and also able to knead dough. This does that, makes salad, grinds perfectly, chops and what not AND the best thing is it do not produce any noise in all this. This thing is so silent I am just surprised with the power to noise ratio. The build quality is excellent, product was delivered safely and in perfect condition. (Got it from bestbuy store @ ebay).

    Love this machine!

We previously owned the smaller 3.5 cup processor. It was too small to begin with but we made do. Once it broke, we decided to move to the larger food processor and we are glad we did. This machine chops with ease with no leftover chunks. Its size allows for chopping everything all at once without have to do a few different batches.

Great food processor for the price!

This food processor has everything you need. It is a good value as well. I agree with some reviews that state the top only locks in place when the food tube is in the front. That was a bit confusing at first, but just follow the directions and you will be running.

Was surprised at how large the unit was based on the cup size however quickly discovered the large based makes very durable with low noise. Also the plastic parts seem to be very well made. Worth the extra price over cheaper models.

    Great processor for my daughter.

She loves the ease of chopping onion, and especially grating cheese - as compared to grating by hand on hand-grater takes for ever and leaves you with tired hands! It was a perfect gift for her and she also loves the ease of cleaning it!

    Does not meet my expectations

    |

After reading reviews, I was expecting this food processor to be top of the line. I put kale, spinach and cabbage into the processor and it didn't seem to do a very good job. I had to keep stopping and moving the chunks of cabbage around, so they would cut. the cabbage was already cut down to smaller chunks before I put them in the processor. The kale and spinach kept getting stuck in the crease of the lid. I will have to try other things in it next time. I was really hoping to put my stuff in and have it chopped quickly, but I guess I'll have to continue to hand cut my chopped salads.

Previously, I purchased the 3 cup food processor but quickly realized it was just too small. Got a really good deal on this 7 cup one and I'm so glad I upgraded. So far, I've made different kinds of hummus and pico de gallo in record time. Can't wait to see what else this food processor can do. I wish I had purchased it sooner.

Been wanting one of these for awhile. Was considering getting the attachment for my mixer, but $79 vs $200??? It's big enough to do what I need and small enough that I can keep it in plain view on my counter.
