These were THE PERFECT addition to my McIntosh/Klipsch Reference 5.2 setup and I now FULLY delight in the 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos world. I'm hooked....

Nice looking and sounding Atmos speaker

    |
    Posted .

After stepping up to a larger 4K 75” TV and a 4K atmos receiver I was only missing the cherry on the top of the pie. When I built my house 10 years ago already had wires set for sorround back speakers, which never came to use, because my 5.2 system always sounded great, with awesome room accoustics. After all these years Atmos gave me a strong reason to think about an upgrade, so I started researching the options. My preference was for high wall speakers because my cathedral ceilings wouldn’t work with the bouncing option, which may work well in specific rooms, and I’m not a fan of in ceiling speakers, even though this would have been my wife’s choice. Nothing beats the acoustics of a well designed traditional speaker. The speakers had to point downwards but I didn’t like bracket mounted bookshelf speakers either, it would look terrible in my family room. I kept debating with myself whether another speaker brand would match my B&W setup, who doesn’t offer a bevelled Atmos speaker. This quickly narrowed my options to this Klipsch RP-140 and SVS Prime Elevation. After reviewing both, ordering and cancelling SVS, I decided to move forward with Klipsch. I had various points for my decision: a much cleaner, less industrial design, not as tall, no additional mounting bracket, the angled wire connection on the top corner and tradition. Overall it is just a nicer looking product also agreed by my wife. SVS has a smart design but lacks refinement, IMO. The installation was a breeze, one screw into the wall, slap on banana connectors and hang it up. I really liked the rubber feet on these units as it allows hooking to the wall with a slight press fit, keeping the speaker tightly put. All of these little details plus the nice magnetic cover with Dolby Atmos inscription are just nice parts to a refined design. After the installation I was really anxious to hear how these Klipsch speakers would sound and blend in with the B&Ws. During the Audissey multi EQ XT32 calibration I got a little concerned because of the timbre difference being noticeable, and thought, worst case pack it up and return. At first I tried out the Dolby Atmos demo videos included in the XBox Atmos app. The 360 degree forest demo and the Everest movie storm are two great scenes that would quickly reveal audible speaker mismatches. To my surprise I was not able to tell that the Atmos speakers were from a different brand. Rather the opposite in scenes with rain, wind or airplanes when the sound goes around all speakers in the room, all blended in fine. The new experience was a great WOW, bringing another level of sorround immersion since the introduction of Dolby Digital back in the 90s. I watched a couple of movies and will continue to listen with critical ears, waiting for the speakers to break in. So far in my opinion this upgrade is worth the money (different from 3D) and I hope the movie industry steps up also updating older movies (Star Wars). Needless to mention that Klipsch makes nice products at a fair price, making me a new fan. I love the new setup and believe that beveled speakers are the ideal solution for countless home theaters. I’m surprised that there aren’t more worthy options in the market, movie theathers have had this type speakers for many years.

Easiest way to get into ATMOS

    |
    Posted .

I was skeptical on this purchase but it really does work! Be aware that this is kinda leading edge as there is not a lot of ATMOS content out there and everything else has to support it. I mean T.V. and Amplifier. So there can be a lot of cost involved in this. I used an LG OLED T.V. and used the Dolby teaser website to test the speakers which sit on Klipsch RF-7 speakers and an Onkyo TX-RZ820 amp which can decode the Dolby content. Worked good! Now I am waiting for something I can watch it on besides the teasers. That's the cost of early adopting! I think the speakers could be a bit cheaper as other Klipsch speakers that are similar are half the cost but don't have the convenient slope. But it gets you out of ceiling or high mount wall speakers. So that would be the cost justification. I got these on a Black Friday sale.

made my new system for use as ATMOS

I got a Denon A/V Receiver. Had an old Sansui Receiver. Everything else in the new system when used with the Sansui could not use HDMI cables. That is why I got the Denon. The Denon was a$1000.00 machine so not a low price machine! Still, to tell you the truth the old Sansui made better sound until I got these speaker for the Atmos option that came on the new Denon. When I got the Denon I also got new center speaker, surround speakers and two sub speakers but not until I got these Atmos speakers, the old Sansui made way better sound! Sorry, Denon but that old Sansui without the Atmos speakers on the new system was just better all around! Still, now I am happy with the new sound system! These Atmos speakers made the sound system worth the move! All speakers are Klipsch. The only speakers I did not replace was the two front Klipsch speakers I got back around 1987. They are Klipsch Forties. Beautiful speakers. I see that Klipsch was making nostalgic Forties and wanted something like $2,300.00 dollars per speakers. This number may be off as I do not remember the exacted amount. This was a whole allot more money than what I paid back in 1987. Klisch make great speakers and these Atmos speakers are as good as any Klipsch speakers! Love the new system now with these Atmos speakers! Still sound and speakers are funny because what sounds good to one with a set of speakers may sound different to another persons ear! If you can it is best to be able to listen to speakers before you buy. I did not because I knew I liked Klipsch speakers. I was not able to listen to these klipsch speakers because they were online ordered and sent to my Best Buy store. Not a problem for me! Best Buy has lower priced klipsch speakers in the store but these were online orders only. Still if the time and the work of ordering these speakers and then sending them back if they do not sound good to you does not bother you then Best Buy Has a return policy! I live in Iowa and here it is against the law to charge a restocking fee! What it is where you live may be different! Just one more thing is that Atmos sound format is just now showing up on some Blue-Ray DVD's but if you have 4K TV and 4k DVD player most 4K DVD Disks have Atmos sound format on them! It is getting better! Still it is not on all DVD disks! Great sound with the right equipment! I love it! Thank you, hope this helps someone!

    Great Dolby Atmos Speakers

The Klipsch 140Sa dolby atmos speakers look and work great with my definitive technologies BP7004 tower speakers. The Klipsch speakers sit on top of the BP7004s. I ran the audyssey setup on my Denon AVRX4400H receiver and began watching movies. Simple as that. The sound is richer with the Klipsch speakers. It's as if you were in the middle of the action. So far I am very happy with my purchase. Only wish I could turn up the volume but I don't think my neighbors would appreciate it.

    Another Home Run for Klipsch

    |
    Posted .

Even though I have an expensive Paradigm speaker system I thought I would give these a try as an addition to my surround sound experience as front height (atmos) speakers. I originally became a fan of the Klipsch sound quality from their Promedia 5.1 computer surround speakers (which I really wish they still made) and I'm quite impressed with their Atmos home audio speakers as well.

    Great for what they are!

These are very high end speakers. I am using 4 for front and rear surround in my home theater build. They don’t deliver bass but that’s what the sub woofer is for. Discreet mounting and hidden wireing keep everything clean. And they are Klipsch so you know the standard is high.

I purchased the Klipsch RP-140SA more for my curiosity as to how the system would change audio quality wise and after the addition; I made the right decision. The added channels and the Dolby Atmos capability is a great addition.

I am using these as rear surround speakers in a 7.1 (soon to be 7.1.2) setup. They sound amazing. My son was playing sea of thieves and you can hear the creaks and cracks of the ship as you are sailing the high seas. Would definitely recommend!

Very good. Add the missing dimension to the overall sound configuration. Clearly audible "height" sound effect when playing a Dolby Atmos encoded disc.
