Customers are saying
Customers appreciate the exceptional sound quality, particularly the impressive bass response, of the Reference Series Dual 8" speakers. Many also praise the speakers' power handling capabilities and value for the price. However, some customers note that the speakers are large and heavy, and a few have expressed concerns about the durability of the feet. Overall, the positive feedback on sound quality outweighs the negative comments regarding size and weight.

Klipsch for the win
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have given them 5 stars except that they are so big, they were taller than my faux fireplace and with the r-41sa Dolby atmos speakers on top of that, there was just not enough room, I wish that it would have worked out, but I talked with a very knowledgeable sales manager and he recommended that I just get 2 more of the r- 51 -m bookshelf speakers to match up with the 2 surround speakers and that would sound great and he was right

Klipsch reference speakers
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are really nice speakers but don’t have the sound that my big Klipsch horn speakers. But for now these will have to do until I can find someone who can replace the component boards in my big Klipsch horns

Excellent sound. Very clear. Klipsch did it again!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let’s make this quick and easy. We are in our late 50’s so hearing the dialog is important. These are mostly used for TV, movies on disk (BR and 4K), and Netflix. We do listen to music some as well. We DO NOT HAVE SURROUND. We listen for now only stereo… These speakers are INCREDIBLE! The base is fantastic even without a sub. The voices on movies and TV are very easy to hear. Sound quality with music is amazing. These are worth every penny that we paid and a real blessing. If you want quality sound, high dynamic range, excellent fidelity (old folks like me know that term), these really deliver! We bought them on sale from Best Buy at $269 each. Best Buy does a great job! For reference, the receiver is Onkyo TX-NR686 God Bless!

Prepared to be amazed? These are unparalleled
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to experience music in a new way, hearing intricate sounds and details of your records that you've never noticed before these are the speakers for you. You feel the music as much as you hear it. When I say they scream, I truly mean it. They hit the highest of the highs, the lowest of the lows and everything in between. I love loud, undistorted music, it truly changes the listening experience, but I haven't even gotten this system over 75% of max volume because it is just so incredibly loud even at 75%. I have the whole Klipsch Reference line running on an Onkyo TX-NR585 and couldn't be more pleased. My home theatre tech was blown away and swore that the setup had to be in the $7,500-10,000 range, when in fact it was less than 1/3 of that. These speakers excel in all genres played, but particularly seem to like rock. They absolutely wail when you play a little Metallica, Van Halen, or Zeppelin. Not to say that fans of electronic, rap, or reggae will be disappointed, you most definitely won't. I listen to it all and am constantly impressed by the performance, clarity and refined, yet raw power. Bulletproof construction and gorgeous design really are just the icing on this beautiful cake. I would put my system up against anyone's with confidence that mine would outperform all, except perhaps someone with more expensive, top of the line, Klipsch gear. Other reputable brands make a decent product, but this is absolutely stellar, not just decent like the plethora of other systems I listened to before making this purchase. This is my 3rd Klipsch surround sound system and I cant stress enough how well they are built. I have all three still, the original of which is almost 15 years old, and they all function perfectly and sound better now than they ever have since they are broken in. These are one of the rare products of today that you could likely pass onto your kids, they are truly that well built. Not plastic garbage like the majority electronics today. You will notice as soon as you try to pick up the box that these bad boys are made of real wood and heavy metal components built to last. All in all these speakers will change the way you experience music in a drastic way regardless of how good you thought your previous method of listening was, be it top of the line headphones, or competitor's surround sound. If you want proof, go listen to them in the store before purchasing. Even the display setup will blow you away. Then you get them home and they exceed your expectations again. I would recommend these to anyone serious about their listening experience, you will not be disappointed. Make sure you give them enough power though, don't try to save money on your receiver otherwise you will be upgrading that component sooner rather than later.

Tall Speakers with Beautiful Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Klipsch R820F speakers are tall floor speakers that provide a rich, immersive sound. They stand around 4 feet tall, so they aren't small by any means. If you have the room for them, these make great left and right speakers for surround sound systems. Pair them up with the rest of the Klipsch Reference II speakers for a complete 7.2 channel immersive surround sound system and you won't be disappointed.

Why Didn't I Buy These Before????
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a pair of the old Synergy series of Klipsch's many years ago and couldn't stand them. They were sizzling in the treble and gave me fatigue within a few minutes of listening to them. I've stayed away from Klipsch since then, because not only did I not have a good experience back then, there is a stigma among the audiophile group that the inexpensive Klipsch speakers are not good. I'm here to state that is a mistake! These speakers rock! The treble is not exaggerated like those Synergy's of old but is instead clear and sweet. The bass is apparent and solid but does not overwhelm the rest of the speaker. I am surprised that a speaker with 2-8" woofers can sound so balanced... Right out of the box they sound great, so much better than the ELAC DF6.2 floor standers they replaced. I have them connected to a Yamaha R-N803 stereo receiver capable of 100 watts per channel RMS. I have a list of songs both in hi-res and CD-quality that I like to run through any speakers I get to see how they handle everything from softer tones to grand scale to metal. The first song I listened to was a 24-bit remastering of Fleetwood Mac's "Never Come Back Again" off of their Rumors album. This is strictly an acoustic guitar piece, with several different guitars being strummed in the background with some simple vocals. With some speakers, this song sounds too polite, almost veiled. With others, the high pitches on the guitars when plucked with the pick can be a little intense and cause fatigue. I was worried what the Klipsch's might do with that kind of high-toned intensity. Instead, they impressed me with their balance. The music had just the right amount of bite without being fatiguing. Layers of sound came out of these inexpensive speakers, and they really made the song come alive. The vocals, which at times can be piercing, were instead just perfect. Excited, I switched to a song called "Soolaimon" by Neil Diamond. This song was mixed a little bright, and on certain speakers, I've had to jog the volume down because the vocals get a little hot and fatiguing. The Klipsch's handled this track with aplomb. Not fatiguing at all, and they got loud. Even as high as I could push them with the Yamaha, they took it and I felt like there was more to come if I could handle it. After listening to songs for about an hour, I threw on my ultimate test track, 46 and 2 by Tool. This song has incredible range, from the deep thump of the double kick to the screeching guitars near the end. I've had speakers that just lost it on this track, unable to keep up with the dynamics. Others became so shrill during the climax of the song that I thought my ears were going to bleed. Not the Klipsch's. They pushed this song out there without breaking a sweat. My son and I sat amazed as we listened to them, remembering all the other speakers that had graced our stereo room. It seemed like none of them handled this difficult song as well as the Klipsch's. As you might be able to tell, I really liked these towers. I had opportunities in the past to purchase them but didn't because I was worried that the Klipsch sound would be harsh and unforgiving. That couldn't be further from the truth, these babies are here to stay.

At half off these speakers are a steal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking at some of the smaller floor standing and bookshelf Reference Premier line for a few months while planning to rebuild my whole stereo set up. Those seem to be pretty well liked by the audiophile community for entry level speakers. Klipsch and their dealers had a half-off flash sale on these Reference speakers in May. I decided for their size and price I couldn't really go long. Given their size they could more easily be repurposed to my home gym or home theatre in the future if I wanted something else. At 500$ for the pair I am thoroughly satisfied. Given my bottom basement turntable and receiver I can't really give these much of a shake down. I'm feeding the speakers with crap really. I still think they said really nice. Highs are great, bass is good, and mids are OK. Again, that is being heard with some terrible equipment behind it. I also think they look GREAT with the copper screws and woofers. Just be aware that they are huge if you have a tight space.

Great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought and demoed 2 different tower speakers before catching these on sale. I have them in a large room 18x20 and they have no issues effortlessly filling the room with great sound. The highs mids and lows are equally matched with each other. I have them paired with 2 klipsch R120sw subs and R52C center. I’m running them on a Yamaha TSR7850 AV receiver. I have these towers set to small and crossed over at 80hz and let the subs do the heavier work. The entire system is POWERFUL. The only negative that I could possibly mention is occasionally I can hear faint muddiness in the woofers if the instrumentals, bass and, vocals are really busy in the song at high volumes but again that’s at high volumes. (I hate to even mention that because I feel like I got a steal on these) overall I am happy and won’t complain considering these were half off and blew the other 2 wharfedale speakers that I demoed completely away. These speakers are very efficient as my receiver is running at half the temperature as it did with the smaller wharfedales 230’s. Some have complained about the size of these but I enjoy them the look, sound and, power match. If I had to and they were on sale I would buy them again without a second thought. I paid shipping to return the whatfedales because these were that much better!!!!! Thank you Best Buy for having these in the store so I could at least get a taste of what they sounded like at the klipsch demo stand on the shelf.

Really good speakers, great value!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up my space (office, listening room, man cave, etc.) in our den, now that all the kids are gone, but could not fit the Cerwin Vega XLS-215's into the new space (from the basement), plus the Cerwin's are a little frat boy / barracks looking for the main floor (but sound great - 3 way with 2 x 15" woofers!). Had been eyeing the the Klipsch R-820-F's for awhile (for the dual 8" woofers and great reviews), but hadn't decided between these and the SVS Primes dual 6.5" (same regular price) or Ultra's dual 8" (double the price). Once the 820's went on sale for 50% off ($274 ea.), I decided to pull the trigger. I am very happy with purchase. For $550 (pair), there is NO WAY you could touch these with any other speaker. These, IMHO, would be well worth full price. The have a nice sound stage, good highs, mid's, and bass. With my Polk DSWPRO660WI sub, the sound is really good. Don't hesitate to get these at full price and especially on sale! I use these to listen to music (mostly rock, metal, classic rock, and a little acoustic electronica) in 2 ch stereo (2.1), but will some day migrate these to my home theater setup. I am driving them with a 2004 Yamaha HTR-5790, which is 110w / ch. with .06% thd. Very clear.

Amazing sound, I wasn’t disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i was going to get the RP8000 but i caught the R820F on a 50% sell, the only thing i have read that differs between the two is the 1% difference in sensitivity and of course the price tag. These speakers sound amazing with my 5.3.4 home theater system, I can’t complain but if i catch the RP8000 on sale is the only reason I would upgrade.

Finally made my first Klipsch purchase
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a pair of JBL E-90 Northridge Tower speakers . I had them for a number of years and loved them . I sold them for almost what I paid for them after 10 years . I needed a new pair of towers.I was looking at these Klipsch towers . I was hesitant about forking over $1100.00 . Then these speaker went on sale at half price . I bought them right away and I am glad I did . The only issue is the plastic feet which look good and keep the speakers nice and steady they are not very durable .just be carefull not to tilt the speakers on the front edges as they may break . Other than that the speakers horns sing and the bass is crisp and not boomy .I love these speakers and for all types of genres. They sound especially nice with jazz . I would say that for the money if you can find these speakers on sale it is a steal . They are still worth the money at regular price . You will not be disappointed .

Klipsch R-820-F, An Excellent Choice.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked these up a few weeks ago during a 2 day sale for 249.00 each, These are very efficient and even a small amp should have no problem making music, I generally listen to rock or rock instrumental, and blues. These speakers are what I would consider a middle high end example, I have heard expensive to very expensive set ups that sound better but in reality most of us will never get. Klipsch knows what there doing. Of course sound is very subjective but here's my take, IMO there's plenty of bass especially when fed some watts, I have read some reviews that state a sub is a must with these, remember we're into music to enjoy it the way it was meant to be, If your into booming rap these are not for you. The highs are crisp and clean although a bit bright at times depending on the tune, piano or sax is reproduced exceptionally well, Mid range rounds out the vocals with great results, Again yes there are better speakers out there but from what I've heard they would cost 1000.00 each. Its up to the individual to make that decision. The R-820-F's are what I would call the sweet spot in an all around excellent choice, Obviously your equipment matters also, I use a tube preamp and a vintage high end amp, with a Schiit Dac and Loki 4 band eq to help with some needy recordings and 12 gauge cable, Most reputable amp brands recommend 14 gauge or better Lower number the better. The finish was flawless but these only come in one color, For the sale price of 500.00 a pair { Normally 1000.00 a pair } I haven't heard any thing that sounds better, This is my opinion after many year's of audio....Thanks for reading...
