Customers appreciate the exceptional sound quality, particularly the impressive bass response, of the Reference Series Dual 8" speakers. Many also praise the speakers' power handling capabilities and value for the price. However, some customers note that the speakers are large and heavy, and a few have expressed concerns about the durability of the feet. Overall, the positive feedback on sound quality outweighs the negative comments regarding size and weight.

I am a big believer that quality sound can be had for those on a tight budget. The Cyber Monday deal Best Buy is running on these is a total NO-Brainer! I was running my (2) Klipsch RF-52 II and decided that this deal was just too good to pass up. I am not regretting this purchase one bit. I am still running my center center RC-52 II, (2) M1 B&W rears, and a SW-110 for low end in an apartment. Power station is an older, yet formidable Yamaha Aventage RX-A700 90 x 7 (only running 5.1) . My concern was powering these bad boys, since they're rated at 150 RMS. However, those that are in the know, understand Klipsch are extremely efficient, and can run off of this power. I got them home tonight and ran them through the paces with various genres. Simply put, how could I be disappointed? The strings, acoustics, mid-range, mid-bass, and added low end was an immersion of sound. There is a break-in period. These will improve over time, and I am counting the days. Next step is pre/pro once I buy a house. In the meantime, I will do my best not to annoy my fellow tenants. Don't walk...RUN! This is the best bang for your buck you could ask for in floor standing! Merry Christmas To Me! One Last note, do NOT skimp on interconnects! All of mine are heavy gauge, oxygen free, shielded, etc. My cable management may look somewhat like a rats nest, but there is zero noise.

I have owned and used an earlier pair of Klipsch for over ten yearss now. And then I bought these...These are grrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaT!
Their incredibly high efficiency rating means that they can play LOUD with a flea-watt amp but I m using 90 watts to play them and even that average amount of power is enough to make music and movies LOUD enough to wake and bake your listening area to LIFE!
Highs are NOT disturbingly pingy like some folk would claim all Klipsch do. And the bass? It is satisfying and percussive. Buy a pair for yourself and prepare to get HAPPY!
I listen to traditoinal Jazz and there is often a LOT of bass because they use real instruments among which more than a few produce superb, deeeep notes. Not that stooopid THUD of modern day poop music but acoustic BASS. No...Not the fish the notes.
And the also take an action flick and nick it up more than a notch or three. Buy a pair of these and as I said, be HAPPY!
Highly recommend-o-mundo indeed! Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'!

Klipsch has a long standing in the speaker business so my expectations for these speakers was very high.
I am very happy to say these speakers blew me away with their design and sound.
Listening to music was a great pleasure. The separation of all the sounds was so great. Most speakers tend to flatten everything together and with these Klipsch I could hear everything.
Watching movies was the same the separation these speakers can achieve for all of the sounds adds to the atmosphere of the movies soundtrack. It was such a joy to try several different movies and the Klipsch handle it with no problem.
Everyday after work I can't wait to get home and so I can listen to these speakers.

Hubby bought a new Marantz receiver from Best Buy because his old Harmon Kardin was dying. He's a real audiofile, so he needed speakers that were good enough to do the new receiver justice. Boy, does it sound great! The old system was good, but what a difference! I'm not one who really needs quality sound, but even I can hear the difference in these speakers. Clear highs, rich midrange, and, oh, the bass! Who knew?? And, even better, they were on sale! If you want a great set of speakers and your receiver is strong enough to push them, you won't go wrong with these.

I upgraded to these from a Pioneer Andrew Jones setup (bought two of these, bought the R-51M as surrounds, a R-52C center *Best Buy doesn’t carry this model*, and a pair of RP-140SA upfiring speakers *also not available at BB*). It’s a fairly nice improvement over my old setup—speakers are bigger across the board, and definitely have more presence at the same volume. They’re also much crisper; the Pioneers could sound muddy/muffled at times.
One of my disappointments with the instore demo kiosk is the real lack of variety in music selection—it’s just rock/alternative music. But they sound pretty good playing rap, R&B, jazz, and electric music. And these towers can push bass. Not the feel it in your chest kind, but you’ll definitely notice it. Especially when listening to bass heavy music. They sound exceptionally good with music that has a lot of instrumentation, like jazz.
Aesthetically, they look pretty nice, particularly with the grills off. I don’t like the ‘grill on’ look as much, because they’re basically just giant black rectangles. The grills themselves are magnetic, which makes removal incredibly easy, and also helps with looks (because there isn’t any peg holes when covers are off).
The build quality of these is not bad. They have nicer veneers than my old Pioneers, and other speakers I’ve owned. The cabinets feel sturdy, and despite being Klipsch’s budget line, they do have a slightly premium feel to them. None of the materials look or feel cheap. My only complaint might be the plastic feet, but they look fine and they’re sturdy—them being plastic does make me worry about how well they’ll hold up, but that might just be misguided of me.
Absolutely no complaints so far, very satisfied with my purchase. Should also note I bought them on a pretty good sale. Not sure if I would have sprung for them at full price, but if I had, I wouldn’t feel too bad about it. Though at full price they’re not far off from the cost of the Reference Premiere equivalent, which are higher quality in comparison.

These speakers sound great. Powered by a 90 watt per channel receiver. It is a 3.1 system for added clarity with the option to add another sub. These speakers sound amazing for movies or music. In the 90s I had a Carver system with huge 4 Cerwin Vegas, so with this system I wasn't sure what to expect but I couldn't be more happy. The center channel was added last because I wasn't sure if I needed it but my ears are not what they used to be and it helps for added clarity.

I’ve had a pair of Sony towers for 15+ years and managed to grab these klipsch at 50% off. For twice the price, these are ten times better. Much louder at the same volume level, much deeper bass that shakes your chest, and fills my house with ease. Dialogue is clear. Great value for 500/pair!!
I’d have to plunk down a lot more cash to beat these.

Best "Entry level" speaker

I am a member of a Klipsch group where they all call this an entry level speaker. Besides the fact that the horns are a bit to bright the sound quality is best I have heard in this price range . They have a frequency response of 35hz and the bass is enough with out subwoofers in most cases. They also can take a ton of power without noticable distoration.

Unlike older Klipsch speakers the highs are not too bright. It has a nice neutral sound. They have plenty of Base, in fact I stopped using my Yamaha powered sub because I found with these speakers combined with a powered sub was just too much Bass

I was torn between the reference premier line or these reference series speakers. Unfortunately, no one within 500 miles had the RP's available for demo. After speaking with Klipsch directly, I asked if a person watching action movies and listening to music would be able to easily identify the difference between either model. The rep said with the previous model reference series, probably, but with the updates to design in the most recent offering, no. So with that, I ordered the less expensive reference line, and have been completely satisfied. The speakers sound beautiful, provide detail I had never heard before in many songs, and are loud enough to make the neighbors want to move. I cant recommend these enough.

Amazing!! I am coming from smaller Yamaha floor stand speakers. These bad boys are huge! The build quality feels good and heavy. I get plenty of bass for movies. Sometimes i don't know if it's the subwoofer or the Klipsch floor standing speakers. During movies you get a really good spacial awareness of sound effects. I have two of these paired with a Denon AVR-S900w. Wish it was Dolby Atoms capable. But that is another expense later in the future. My kids have loved watching movies with the new speakers. Make sure you have the room for these. I heard the 6 1/2 woofer floor standing speakers are still big as well. I went with these 8 inch woofer since the price difference was very minimal compared to the 6 1/2 version. I did not want to regret not going bigger. If you're in the market, and you wait for these to be on sale. It is worth it for movie music lovers. Klipsch is simply amazing!!

I bought these on sale for about $375 each. It was definitely worth the price. They really bump, and I am not even coming close to blasting them to their full potential in my living room. I haven’t tried the Reference Premiere versions, but I am very satisfied with these as an audiophile. I am sure the reference premiere ones are better. However, if money is your concern, you will not regret these. I have it set up in a 5.1 setup with the Klipsch R 120SW (also got on sale). I would definitely recommend a subwoofer with these speakers. The bass is not deep enough for my taste alone, and setting the crossover on the receiver helps to make the bass of these towers “punchier”. Also, setting the proper settings on the receiver seemed to improve the sound a lot. People always compliment my speaker system when they come-over, and they are amazed.

Wow.....I wasn't expecting such an incredible improvement in the overall sound quality. These are also quite heavy at around 60lbs each. A tad on the bassy side but that can be fixed by changing the eq in the receiver.

I have always been a Polk and definitive tech speaker guy. I read all the reviews about these speakers being bright. I can tell you I had a front set of Polk rtiA9s connected to my top of the line Yamaha receiver. Home theater receivers don’t push what the specs state. Be careful. The polks never would open up. The sensitivity setting was way low. I thought about adding a separate amp but my wall unit wouldn’t hold one. So I looked at these klipsch speakers. They don’t require as much amp power to move them. Your home receiver can move these. I listened to music in all stereo and 2 channel stereo and these things produce great sound. Bright? Yes but you can dial that down. Once you’re dialed in on your settings, these things sound terrific. Very happy with this purchase.

Got a great deal on these speakers and I honestly didn't expect much in the way of performance from them. These are honestly amazing speakers for the price. They are pretty power hungry but if you have a halfway decent Amp to power them they sound great. I really mean halfway decent as I am currently powering these with a Denon HEOSAMP that's probably barely pushing 100W RMS per channel. I really enjoy the soundstaging and quality of sound recreation these speakers create. They have surprisingly good separation and imaging. The low frequency response is great! I would definitely say that if you're using these exclusively for music there would not be a need for a dedicated subwoofer. If these are part of your home theater system they do leave a little to be desired for explosions and stuff like that in movies so you'll still want dedicated sub. These are great speakers for the price and I am happily surprised by their quality.

My husband likes old school speaker with a lot of range and bass. He was hesitant about these but once he got them home he fell in love with them. We got them for half price at the black friday presales. He loves that he feels like he is in the stadium when watching NFL game, hearing what people are yelling in the stands and on the field. He has never had a speaker with crossover the LFE and he love it! I love the the way they look! I highly recommend this speaker!

After much research and model consideration as well as many youtube reviews i chose this klipsch model. I immediately could see the draw as to why this brand is very popular in many home theatre setups. Designs evolve and cosmetics change but the core performance and efficiency have been a staple to the Klipsch brand. In my opinion these speakers perform better and better as the volume and power increase they seem to expand effortlessly. With the characteristics of an opera singer. Clarity and Fidelity. Design and Value. You just cannot go wrong with Klipsch at this price point. Sound is subjective but the 4 items i mentioned gave me the confidence to continue purchasing more Klipsch speakers for my home theatre.

Tweeters on both speakers blew after 2 days. Running a Denon AVR and wondering if it is the problem. Cannot imagine a $1000 receiver is pushing hard enough to destroy these well-built Klipsch soeakers. The good news is Best Buy took these back with no hassle at all. Value at list price questionable but, for the 50% off fmduring the holiday sale they seemed like a steal.
