Just buy and enjoy. I missed the release over Xmas, and so was really looking to it coming out in the Spring. And with the home isolation we've been doing since Spring Break, this movie has been a godsend. I love how the characters are cross-type and overblown. Toni Colette is just genius--tho I just want to tell her to leave town. Chris Evans is sooo believable as a rich, entitled jerk. Makes me want to smack him or key his beloved car. Daniel Craig. So I'm from Oregon, not from the South, and thus I have to be careful how I say this - respectfully. I do have friends from places like Bama, Tennessee and the Carolinas, so I know my way around the speech patterns. So let's just say this action-hero Brit is cross-cast to play a "type" of the Southern Gentleman from an older era. I enjoyed it. IMHO, he does it with the drawl, slower speech, and other colloquialisms that make for a fun ride. Sure, it is going to offend some good folk below the Mason-Dixon line, but he ain't s'posed to be *real*, y'all. Ana de Armas--we will be seeing lots of her in the future. In this film she is meant to play someone caught up in and overwhelmed by the family dysfunction. There are probably a few too many moments where she plays big-eyed "shock" at the insanity of it all, but perhaps she was cast in the role because of her ability to pull this off. Extra stars to the writers to tossing immigration policy in the middle of this Northeastern WASP family and town. Made for some awkward moments, but...hey...just turn on the TV news channels

I love this movie and was incredibly excited to watch it on 4k and for the most part, it was good, until the last 15 minutes, where the disc froze and skipped a whole 7 minutes into the end credits. I rewound it to that moment and it still froze but skipped 30 seconds after the scene. The worst part is: I can't return it anymore. Check your discs and watch them as soon as possible or you might end up with a problem with no solution, like me.

One of the Best Films of 2019

On the surface, Knives Out is a movie crafted in the vein of Clue or an Agatha Christie murder-mystery, but these genre constructs are only present to (mostly) serve as the conduit for writer/director Johnson to better express his feelings about, his concerns for, his frustrations with and his fears concerning America in 2019. Johnson is known for having split the Star Wars community in half with his previous film, Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, but before he took on a Star Wars movie he began his career in smaller fare like Brick before moving into bigger, but still very original features like The Brothers Bloom and Looper. Each of these films have a distinct nature in terms of the type of storytelling or genre Johnson is conveying his voice and ideas through and that is very much the case with Knives Out. When Johnson is working within a genre that allows him the room to elaborate on characters and scenarios in the way that he very clearly enjoys doing it is a formula that is almost unstoppable. Knives Out is a near-perfect film not only because it serves this allegorical purpose, but also because it can be enjoyed simply as a murder-mystery as it is wholly satisfying on just this level.

I really enjoyed this star packed film. If you like Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes stories (and like the game Clue), then you might really enjoy this film. Daniel Craig, Jamie Leigh Curtis, Chris Evans, LaKeith Stanfield, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, and Ana de Armas all give top notch performances (as does the entire ensemble)! I laughed alot while watching this film in part due to the excellent writing. The special features are worth checking out too. I saw this after I saw No Time To Die (also starring Craig and de Armas) and can honestly say that the performances of both of those actors that film is so very different from their performances in this film. Both stellar performances! All in all, Knives Out is fun viewing for the PG-13 crowd. I heard that a sequel is on the way and I can't wait to see that!
