Despite having this installed by someone familiar with them, I still had to call Kevo customer support to calibrate it. They were very helpful in getting it to work properly. Once that was done, it works very well. Although it’s not a big deal, I can’t get this particular model to interface with my Ring system.

Easily Replaced our old dead bolt. All of us have the app on our phone and we just touch the outside unit and the door locks/unlocks. We can lock/unlock the door at from anywhere in the house. Considering getting a hub so we can lock/unlock from anywhere.

This is perfect when you have your hands full because you don’t need any keys

I've tried them all, including the August, Friday, Kevo convert and Kevo first generation. The second generation Kevo so far is the only one that has worked 100% of the time for me! Some of the negative reviews for this lock may in fact be reviewing the first generation version Kevo lock mistakenly. The second generation lock was just released in Spring of 2017. Installation and configuration of the lock was a little challenging but I was able to handle the entire process myself. As soon as I installed the lock and downloaded the app to my phone, it wanted to do a software update that took approximately 20 to 30 minutes and required keeping my phone within ten feet or so of the lock. So I just laid my phone down inside the front door near the lock while it performed the update. It made a loud beep sound once the update was finished and the remaining setup was a snap. One comment, the first 2nd generation Kevo lock I purchased had a defective circuit board. I was unable to get it to reset to factory default by pressing the reset button. I was advised by Kevo technical support (waited on hold almost 30 minutes to talk to them) to try exchanging the item, which I did at Best Buy where I purchased this lock. The new one has been working perfectly ever since I installed it roughly 10 days ago! Bottom line, if you want a Smart Lock that actually works when you approach the door and tap it to unlock consistently, make sure you buy this second generation Kevo and save yourself a lot of headaches and time. This lock also has optional automatic relock which automatically locks the door 30 seconds after it was opened either manually by twisting the knob or using the electronic opening. In other words, with this feature turned on your door is pretty much locked all the time and you have to unlock the deadbolt to exit. This adds an extra layer of security knowing that my door is always locked.

Makes unlocking doors when hands are full or when it's raining.

Works as expected.Battery life on phone does drain quickly.Seems like app should be running when you expect to use lock,otherwise,i shut the app off.Problem i have is i have to go to apps on phone and do a forced stop,which seems time consuming.

It's an okay smart lock. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it took a while to recognize my phone when I was near it to unlock the door. I had to open the app on my phone in order for it to unlock.

This device was super easy to install and, in my case, changing the lock cylinder was warranted. On the Software side of things it was also easy to setup. However, the Bluetooth range is limited. And I can’t have it in my back pocket on entry so i have to place my iPhone in my front pocket or hold it in hand which defeats the keyless/hands free concept. I wrote to Support twice and did not receive a response. That is really bad in this day and age. I’m really torn about endorsing them but will because it does work just not perfectly handsfree.

It was easy to install & the app is east to use!!!

Product works great but has some glitches such as draining batteries at times and not reading app. Would be super optimal paired with the remote access piece to allow for use without needing bluetooth range.

This was a very straightforward installation. I have been using it now for about a month, with no issues. My only feed back would be an update to the app, that would not require the app to be open in the background in order too work.

Being able to tap to open the door is amazing! sadly after a year its intermittent at best. I cannot recomend this after my long term experience, Maybe the newer version is better (more reliable)

I like the product it is easy to assemble and to use. It add security to my home even if I am not around. You don't need a key to open your door as long you have your smart phone.

Well I had read a few reviews which had a few negative reviews and I was a little reluctant to buy it. However I went ahead because my previous lock was also from Kwikset and it fit the exact lock that I had previously. Now that I have been using it for more than 2 months I could not be more happier with it. Only thing I would suggest to add a feature for remote lock over the internet. Currently you can only lock and unlock from or within the house. I love the ring which indicates if the door is locked or not and it really hides very easily that no one even know that this is an electronic lock. So another advantage.

The Kwikset Kevo is a good looking and well built product. The only reason that I'm giving it a 4 is that for it to truly reach it's potential, an extra $100 needs to be spent to upgrade to the Kevo Plus system.

Works great easy to install and operate only down fall is when it needs to be updated you have to take the back off it’s not a big deal just annoying

If you do not watch the installation video closely the lock will not work. Make sure you watch it 2-3 times and don’t miss any steps. Once it’s properly installed, it is ideal for large families. Older phones will not allow full functionality of the app.

I love this lock. Works very well. Only issue is that I had to buy the $100 add on to make it connect to WiFi so I can lock and unlock it from anywhere. Without that, you are restricted to Bluetooth connectivity only. Besides that, I've had no issues locking/unlocking the my door. I also like that it works with Alexa but that also requires that extra $100 add on.

It's not life changing but it does work. It could stand to be a little cheaper for what you get. To make it WiFi you have to pay another 100 or so bucks for the receiver that is not included with the lock. It was not available/instock until a month after purchasing my lock. I'm about to order it now so we'll see how it works as a complete unit.
