I did not know about this brand but since I knew Porsche, I selected this item.

I love the product overall plus its made by porsche.

I'm not a heavy media user, but I needed a new hard drive with enough space for all my backups and whatever I'm watching at the time. The drive is lightweight and slips neatly into my bag next to my laptop. The backup assistant makes it quick and easy to use. The USB3 speeds are great. The build quality is excellent, everything is solid and works just as you would expect.

Love this hard drive, fast, compact and super clean. Neve have issues and it always is super fats and ready to go!

The drive has a generous 1 TB capacity and very high speeds with USB 3.0. It runs cool and quiet. The aluminum casing dissipates heat quite efficiently. The Backup Assistant makes it easy to setup automatic backup. IMHO this is a great product for the price.

When I bought this we were a PC only family. When setting up the drive it allows you to partition it into multiple drives, 1 of which can be compatible with a MAC. i decided to go with that option (just in case). I loaded all my pictures on the "Shared" drive. About 6 months later, my wife wound up getting a Mac Book. I was able to easily move her iTunes and the pictures over. I can use it back up files on both OS's. Very happy with it. So far (6+ months ??) very fast and reliable. I use it with both USB 2.0 and 3.0.

External hard drives are something that is a must if you are in biz of the Pro DJ. I have gone through so many external hard drives I lost count. Recently I purchased this GEM of a hard drive and honestly love the performance and the design. It integrated well with my Macbook Pro 2012 and loads tracks in blazing speed. At the moment thunderbolt is still out of reach of many and I am not excluded from this group so I will continue to get gear that fits and is cost effective.. I actually paid less than advertised due to an error in the store.. I picked this one of for $109.00 at my local best buy and have to say they stand behind what they sell. Bravo to lacie for this one...

I often have to work while on the road. A reliable portable drive is my most important requirement for successful work. Just over two months ago I upgraded from an older external drive to Porsche Design and I am very happy with it. The capacity is greater (my old disk was 320 GB) and it's much more convenient to work with. Everything is faster, simpler, the drive is silent and almost does not heat. I particularly like the sturdy casing, which also looks great. Even though I always carry the disk with me, without any extra case, it's not scratched and looks like new.

Overall, it's a very great USB 3.0 drive and you will get USB 3.0 speeds. First off for those looking for a cheap USB drive for maximum speed, volume, dollar ratio I would look elsewhere. This is mostly a drive where you are paying a premium for the design! And it certainly does a good job. The aluminum case does seem to help dissipate heat well. Drive is also fairly silent compared to my old Seagate portable drive. Everything is fairly typical of any USB 3.0 drive, nothing exceptional. One problem I seem to be having is the USB cable connection at the PC end sometimes seems to disconnect itself. And the cable has to be pushed around to regain connection. I also have a desktop Porsche Design USB 3.0 Drive and I don't have any problems what so ever with the larger one. Nonetheless if I don't move the drive around which it shouldn't be moving around in the first place, everything works just fine.

I purchased a Seagate go flex 1tb hard drive & it was very unreliable. Seagate sent me another one & that one started acting up right away, just like the first one. Would not let me retrieve / access my files (the whole point of having an external hard drive). So I asked around & read a lot of reviews. Everyone said get the Lacie they're the best & so far it is is great.

Supplements my cheap low-memory laptop. Great for travel.

after researching for quite a while, i found this lacie hard drive after reading other positive reviews - i use it primarily for work and i love how easy the set up was, the price is great for the amount of space and i like the sleek look of it sitting on my desk.

I use this for my system backups. I formatted the drive right out of the box to get rid of their software and to have the maximum space possible available. I've had it a couple of months. It's very quiet. Backups happen at night and I can read them fine. I would have gotten larger, but the larger drives weren't rated very well. That's my only complaint. So if a 1GB external drive is what you need this seems like a great unit so far.

For over a year my office has felt secure knowing that every night all our files were backed up on our LaCie Porsche Design P’9220. Over the weekend our system crashed requiring us to use the backup for the first time to restore. It turns out all of the saves over the last two months were for nothing. Literally thousands of man-hours of work has been lost because of this. Then upon trying to start fresh and set up a new backup I am unable to save anything as the software wont progress past the “monitoring changes” step. Over a week has passed with multiple attempts being made to contact LaCie’s customer support with ZERO response other than an automated email saying the request was submitted. Overall I would suggest only purchasing this product if you enjoy throwing away time and money.
