This is my second LaCie 1TB Rugged External drive and the first Thunderbolt. It is plug-and-play, but with formatting and partitioning options for an advanced user. I can boot my Mac from it and notice no performance loss. For the price, it's an astonishing value.

This is a durable fast hard drive for people on the go

I use this little guy to back up my Macbook pro and it is FAST! I use time machine with it and all my data backs up super fast! I'm a graphic designer so my portfolio is basically my life. It's great to know that it's completely protected inside and out!

Used it for a few days and liked the fact that this thing is super rugged. But on the flip side, this thing come with a 5400 RPM hard drive, which is not bad for any one just looking to back up stuff, but when you want to do work off of it there is a bit of a lag. There is an SSD version of this but it is super expensive. Had to return in the end but for anyone just looking to carry something along to do the occasional back up, this is a great buy.

Price is high but for this product you really pay for what you get. Yes there are cheaper hard drives on the market but this one is fast and rugged which can withstand a few drops.

Love love love this... comes with the thunderbolt plug for Macs and a USB 3.0 as well for all you PC owners. Im running this as my primary HD for a retina 13in and it runs fantastic!!

Lives up to the rugged name, the built in thunderbolt cable is a great feature for Mac users. I've been using the predecessor to this one for about 2 years without issues and its lasted me through constant use and travel, this one feels like it should last the same.

This external drive is a really great product! Its physical size makes it very convenient to travel with. Its capacity is perfect for shooting media when shooting on location with DSLR cameras. For the price the value is great!! Highly recommended!!

Works great with Mac laptops that are Thunderbolt and USB3 outfitted. Rugged construction with rubber protection against drops. Nice size for portability.

I'm rough on my things and travel a lot. I've had several external hard drives fail because they are constantly being moved and put into my bag and planes. Even in a case that I purchased, they just don't hold up. This thing has several great features. First, if you're a mac used, the integrated thunderbolt cable means one less thing to carry around, This also means fast file transfers back and forth between your mac and your drive. I plan on purchasing more of these for my video and photo projects.

after going through a bunch of the "entry level" external hard drives, I splurged and bought the LaCie. Works great. And you can partition a share drive for both mac and PC

So far this has been great. It seems to work fast and is reliable. The thunderbolt cable is nicely stored and wrapped around the unit ready whenever it's needed. Very nice. My only concerns are the thunderbolt cable wear over time and that the drive just seems to be covered w/a nice rubber case. I hope that it's reinforced but so far it's been great. Another fyi to the hard drive companies. Quit putting all of the software and stuff on the unit. Leave that space to be used by the owner.

I edit video daily and having storage and speed is very important. I got both along with a rugged design. Love It!

Fast loading, compact to carry around and perfect!

I am a professional photographer and use this as my main drive to work from as well as back up files. Very fast. With the construction it is very rugged which is peace of mind since the drive and my laptop travel with me daily.

I use these brilliantly designed Lacie Drives with Macs and PCs They are so easy to partition - the new ones come with attached thunderbolt cables and there us always a usb option.

Work perfectly working well use every day and until now I have not had any issues. It is a very fast drive and work great with music and videos. I use it for videos which usually takes a long time and until now it is really fast and allow me to access information quicker than previous drive I have owned.

This device is just what I needed! I put it to work the moment I took it out of the box and haven't had a single problem since then. I use this mainly for my photography and for client work and it satisfies everything I need it to do! The Thunderbolt cable makes everything faster which cuts my transferring/editing time but half! Would highly recommend this to anyone that needs this for work!

I used these drives at work. I have several. They always perform well and I have had no troubles. The cases are great for that accidental drop that will happen sooner or later.
