The Lacie portable hard drive was recommended by several friends that are professionals for backing up data. They said it's pretty "bomb proof" and the "higher cost is worth it".

When you need a hard drive to be mobile, you get this. Cushion makes me feel I can just throw this in my bag and I don't have to worry about it getting damaged. I use one for work and one for personal. My life is stored on this. If something happens, my life would be over. When your life depends on your data, you can feel a little safer with the ruggedized version.

This drive works like a champ with thunderbold. I work directly from this external drive and it's like working from the hard drive. So fast!

These are super handy for transferring files, i don't like that the thunderbolt cable is permanent.

I work for an educational institution and I purchased this particular hard drive because of how it's designed. This is for a group of journalism students who need to store a years worth of videos that we cannot afford to lose and with the transporting to and from school, I figured it was worth it to invest in a hard drive that is designed to withstand bumps and drops. Each student has a macbook so the thunderbolt connection is helpful when transferring large amounts of data. I would highly recommend this product.

What a great external storage device. Looking at buying a second one.. I have thousands of pictures... Hundreds of folders. This is a very fast external device... Great buy for the money... Have had other external devices that have failed. NOT GOOD when you have thousands of pictures like I do....

Bet drive for high demand video editing and very portable.

Overall this is a good device for critical backups or to work as an extended drive - the choice of USB or Thunderbolt is definitely a plus!

It works as advertised and the durable quality helps greatly with my accident prone staff. It is dropped on a hard tile floor almost weekly. Considering this drive has a good rugged rubberized grip I have no idea how it could slip out of anyone's hands. I might have to ban fried chicken and butter from the work place.

This thing is fast. I use it for doig 3d models and programs where the files get huge. This has been handling everything perfectly. You can also divide up the space for your preferences on doing just Mac, pic or both.
