    Great tablet

    Posted .

I have had this tablet for 10 days now. So far I am impressed. I've had a first generation iPad since it was first released and my cell phone is an iPhone 4. This tablet performs better (CPU speed and memory) than my iPad which crashes frequently since the last iOS upgrade. Side by side, there is no noticeable difference between the screen size, image quality, brightness, contrast, etc. between the two devices. It came with Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). I have not rooted it, side loaded any applications, or tinkered with it in any way. In the 10 days I have had it, I have charged the battery twice. I use the device 1.5 to 2 hours a day. I also purchased a 32GB SD Micro memory card bringing the total memory to 40GB. I have some movies in MV4 format that I play on the the iPad. I copied these to the SD card. At first a message popped up saying it didn't know how to play the MV4 file. I changed the extensions to MP4 and they play perfectly. If you haven't heard of HandBrake, Google it. It's a nice tool to convert DVDs to files that play on portable devices. I easily configured both my Gmail and corporate Microsoft Exchange mail accounts. All the images I have stored in Picasa Web Albums magically appeared in the photo gallery. I have downloaded dozens of apps from Google Play and/or the Amazon app store. All run just fine. It found and connected to my wireless router with ease. It shows a half dozen other wireless routers (my neighbors I assume) which neither my iPhone nor iPad detect. Pros: Has a camera, SD Slot, HDMI output (which I will probably never use), auto brightness adjustment. Cons: Volume button is difficult to find. Google Play doesn't have as many apps as the Apple App Store and there aren't as many Android apps specific to tablets as there are for iPads. Summary: For ~$250 (including the SD card) I got a great performing tablet with 40GB of storage which is comparable if not better than the 16GB iPad for which I paid $600. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the volume button and because it did not come with headphones. Side note: I purchased the Blurex leather case/stand for the Le Pan II and it fits perfectly.

Best tablet out for the $$$!!!

    Posted .

The other review is not for this tablet, it is for the Android 2.3 Le Pan TC970. This is the Le Pan II with Android HONEYCOMB and it is AMAZING!!! I just got this powerhouse yesterday and it is everything and more. Dual core processor and 1GB of ram makes this tablet incredibly responsive. I have owned both Android and Apple products and have always leaned towards Android because of all the things you can do with Android that Apple does not allow. For $220 less than an IPad, you can't beat this tablet! I added an 8GB minisd card I already had so it now has 16GB total, I will probably eventually get a 32GB card for this monster. Silky smooth performance with many apps running at once. There is no rear camera but come on, who is taking pictures with a tablet?!? If I need to take a picture I grab my EVO. There is a front camera that is 2 megapixels which is better than most other phones and tablets, I have taken a few pics with it and the pics look fine, especially for voice chat. I have Google Voice on this tablet too and I get all my text messages, voicemails, and can even make outgoing calls with another app!!! Movies play great, and the speakers blow away any laptop's that I have heard. When I heard that this tablet was available I checked Bestbuy.com hourly until I saw that it was available and jumped at the opportunity and I must say, for the price this is by far the best electronic device I have ever purchased! I also have installed a Super Nintendo emulator and hooked up a Wiimote through bluetooth! AMAZING!!! I feel like I could go on and on about this tablet and I've only owned it for about 24 hours! Only thing I haven't tried is the HDMI, there is no HDMI port but the website says that it is capable so I am expecting that a peripheral will be available in the near future. It will also be upgradeable to Android 4 when it is released. The device itself is of top notch quality, and I prefer the size to the more wide screen Android tablets that are available. The screen is bright, I would give it a solid 8, not quite as good as the Samsungs and again, the speakers are rocking! I got a Targus IPad case for it too which fits almost perfectly!

    Perfect for Business

This is my second LePan Tablet. My first one the TC970 was so good my wife decided I should update it. The new LePan II has a faster processor, takes rough handling without a whimper and with Android it is 10 times easier to use than an IPAD. My friends have IPAD's at about 2 times the cost and aren't happy that this Tablet out performs them. Get one you won't regret it. Battery is excellent. I get about 24 hours on a charge. You can pay more but you won't get better.

By far Le Pan II is Best Buy in tablets!!!

    Posted .

I had been looking for a tablet for a while. First I tried the Pandigital Novel, it was solid as a rock and heavy as one also lol but it was stuck with android 2.0 and no way to upgrade it, 600 MHz processor very little memory and storage, no android market or Google apps and only 7" resistive display. So next I tried a Velocity Micro Cruz T408 8" capacitive display, android 2.3, 1GHz processor 512MB RAM 4GB storage but it was all plastic and felt heavy but cheap in hand. When held in 1 hand it made a squeaking noise whenever i moved my hand and felt like the case was coming apart. I could live with that because it was only $179.00 but after 1 week it froze and needed a reset after which it never connected to WiFi again :( So after checking 6 stores and testing dozens of other tablets, reading many reviews, posts and watching lots of video reviews I spotted the Le Pan II and it had everything I was looking for... price, size, speed, storage, looks, android market... THE WORKS! And anything to even come close to it's specs started at $400.00 So I pre-ordered 1 from Amazon Jan 5Th but they couldn't get it to me till Jan 31st - Feb 9Th so when I saw Best Buy had them and could get it to me in 1 week I jumped on it and they got it to me in 4 business days :) All i can say is THIS TABLET IS AWESOME! :) Looks great feels great works great! Its all they said and MORE! NO plastic, solid in the hand but not too heavy to hold in 1 hand for long periods of time, great display with excellent viewing angles, nice Loud speakers too and very strong battery... I got 16.5hrs of surfing, videos, music and just test the unit yesterday. It's hard to find a bad review for the Le Pan II and I'm very happy with mine.

    Awesome tablet!!

    Posted .

Bought a Le Pan II for hubby's birthday and we (mostly "i") can't put it down!! This is our first tablet so i wasn't sure how to make it "cool" but once i started adding an app for this and an app for that, we loved it even more. I try to keep it out of the bedroom because I’m afraid I’ll fall asleep playing with it and punt it across the room in the middle of the night. I did buy the optional protection plan, but I don’t wanna press my luck. And I’d hate to have to start over with all the apps and wallpapers I’ve downloaded. The picture is great, the screen is super sensitive (in a good way), it's easy to hold. One of my fav features is the fact that your main three buttons aren't really “buttons”. They're on the screen so whichever way you rotate the tablet, your buttons are always in the bottom left corner. The screen protector we purchased might alter the picture a bit because it’s anti-glare but it still looks fantastic so no worries about buying those. Outside or in well-lit places, you’ll be glad to have it! It was not easy to apply, however, but please don’t let that deter you…some ppl are better with that sort of thing than others. Just be prepared to spend a little time with it and focus on the peace of mind you’ll have knowing your screen is protected, and easier to see! No case yet, so no comment on how well that works out. I’ve read that using cases made for other tablets make some of the buttons hard to reach, but I have yet to see a “Le Pan case” so you work with what you’ve got. We only have one movie on it so far, and therein lies our only issue with this little guy, movies and videos. First, 8 GB seemed like a lot to us because we don't need it for work or anything...but after we tried to put a movie on it (albeit unconverted) we found out that we didn't have enough storage space. The next lesson we learned was that the videos we shot with our simple little digicam wouldn’t play on the Le Pan II. If you’re more familiar with tablets than we were then you’ll already know you need more space if you’re going to be doing much movie watching, and that you’ll likely need to start converting your collection. I was able to convert a couple of things (to check the quality because all we’d done up to this point was play games) and we’re still in love, so no biggie there! Another issue that doesn’t bother us because we don’t need this function is the camera. It does not take good pics, but we don’t need or want a tablet for that. If you do, be advised that you won’t love the pics you take and that the camera is only front-facing so you won’t be able to see the image as you take your pic…unless you’re trying to see yourself and/or whatever’s lurking behind you. Other than that, you will LOVE this tablet! When I was researching which tablet to purchase, a friend brought his first gen iPad to work so I could play with it and I’m loving the Le Pan II waaaaay more. I did say he has a first gen iPad, so I can’t compare mine with the newer Apples, but I wasn’t going to spend Apple money (still won’t) and I couldn’t be any happier with my decision. =D

    Awesome tablet

    Posted .

This tablet has impressed me and that is no easy task. It is as fast as any tablet on the market right now. The screen is very crisp and responsive. Wifi has no issues connecting for me as I travel around connecting to multiple different networks. The tablet itself has a very well built feel to it, not all plastic like alot of the tablets of today. I like the screen format as it makes web browsing and reading easier than a widescreen one. The android is supposed to be upgraded to Ice Cream 4.0 in march from what I hear. So forget the people that say that it said it is supposed to have it now as they clearly cannot read. In short I take this thing everywhere using it for remote control (teamviwer and vnc), email, browsing and document editing. I have alot of experience with mobile devices tablets, phones and laptops and the best thing I can say is that it has imppresse me a great deal so much that I wrote this review not something I usually waste my time with. And yes I did this with my Le Pan 2.

    well worth the wait

    Posted .

After what seems like a small eternity searching through reviews and scanning spec sheets and price point plotting this tablet was well worth the wait. That wait is one thing that made me decide to get this particular item. Its in demand for a reason Pros 1)It's fast. I use it to view large pdf files and its faster than company laptop. 2) It's powerful. On the road i use it as a media player and its doing hd videos just fine no issues. The speakers are not perfect but can hear just fine cruising down the road at 75mph. 3) It's well priced. I was looking at a few brand named tablets with similar specs and this one beat them all. 4) Its well built. It has a nice solid feel to it, and has a nice solid form factor. 5) It is loaded with features. Been using the gps to travel all over Texas on back roads and small towns.. its perfect for that. Cons 1) Does not come with ICS. Not enough to loose a star, but would be nice. 2) Limited accessories. It not using standard 30 pin connector apparently. Other thoughts: There is a good webpage with a forum i have already found useful. http://www.forum.lepanlife.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=8 Overall I rate this 5 stars the few small issues I have with it are not so much even with the tablet as they are with android.

    Awesome low-cost tablet

Great tablet for under $250. This was the only full size tablet I found for that price that wasn't a piece of junk. It responds very well and it looks very sleek. Several people have already asked me where I got it, and can they get one too. Its not perfect, and I'm hoping le pan will support the jelly bean update soon, but I'm extremely satisfied with this tablet.

    Perfect for work

    Posted .

I won't lie I took a leap of faith on this tablet. I needed a tablet for work in an environment where it's always a constant on the go handy tool. A list of products I looked over before my purchase were the Samsung galaxy 10 note, IPad, Insignia, and Asus. All of these tablets are great but were just way more than what I needed, so I am very satisfied with the Le Pan II. I'm only a good month into owning this tablet and so far it has been just what I needed with making my schedule, notes, writing up customer orders, surfing the web, and making documents. It's helped me increase my productivity throughout the day and has been a great investment! (especially for the reasonable price) My one complaint was the fact I had to take a leap of faith on the product because the site does not make it very clear if it actually does run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.. In some specs it just said 4.0... When the competition is Samsung, Asus, and Apple I would hope for some better details. So in closing, the Le Pan II has been a great investment and I would definitely recommend it, however, for a potential customer looking to buy this product I understand the reviews are either on the good or bad side of the spectrum. Technology always involves risks so just stop and think about what you're looking for out of your future tablet. For me, the outstanding price and the features have fit my needs perfectly.

    Worth every penny

    Posted .

For the price, this tablet is worth every single penny and I dare say, MORE! A HUGE 9.7" screen to watch HD youtube videos and movies, the entire Android Market to play around with (tho some apps don't work). It sports a very fast 1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor and, Android 3.2 HoneyComb upgradeable to 4.0. and much much more. I could go on and on about the features. This tablet is very solidly built too. It does not feel flimsy or cheap at all. Speakers are suprizingly loud. I've just noticed when my sister turned the volume to max while playing Pandora. Touch screen is very responsive and reacts instantly, and it can run multiple apps w/out skipping a beat. I was hesitant to buy it from a company I haven't heard about, but I'm very pleased with the results. The only problem with the Le Pan II was....FINDING ONE!! I've searched eBay, Bestbuy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Amazon, Newegg and everywhere else the actual Le Pan website distributed the product to. When I finally found one, I jumped on it immediately. The battery life is pretty beefy too.

    Great tablet for the price

I purchased this tablet specifically to read sheet music and as a replacement for my (paper) library. My 2 specifications were: a screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio and Android OS. I have found all the apps I need so far, and the performance of the tablet is very good (I do not use it for gaming or much media, apart from Netflix on occasion, which it handles just fine). One drawback is that the speaker volume is not very loud. Also, the tablet does not turn on once in a long while (can be turned on by depressing a button with a pin at the back, you don't lose any data). The tablet looks great, is easy to use, and is great value for the price.

    Great Android Tablet!!

    Posted .

I have had the Lepan II for about a month, and still enjoying it greatly! Excellent screen quality, sound, and response. Buttons on the side are small, but after using it a while this is fine - no problems - glad they are all on one side. Camera quality is okay but not great. The first video or two I watched on youtube had buffering issue mentioned by others, but I have watched a ton more since then with no delay issues at all. Video shows very quickly on this tablet. Touch response is excellent. Screensize is just right for me. I can easily read full page 8.5x11 PDF pages. Brightness of the screen is excellent and easily adjustable. I guess Lepan III will come out soon with 1.5 (instead of 1.2 Ghz) and with front and rear cameras, but I'm very happy with my Lepan II purchase. Looking forward to the ICS upgrade, but the Honeycomb is working just fine until then. On some pages like att.my.yahoo.com or myfoxatlanta I just use the full site web page version rather than some tablet or mobile version of the page. It is so fast to load the page and scroll through and select news items that I do not see any need to use the tablet or mobile page version. Streaming music from gmusic google account works great.

    Greatness at a great price

Brand new to Android. Never used it before. I charged it all night when I got it (with-in a week after I ordered it) and then added my Wi-Fi and connected fast. Loaded all my app's I use from my I-phone and reading my books from Kindle from my phone too. Loaded a wallpaper from a new movie coming out March 9th and I must say I am addicted to this. Great color. Great sound, great price....I am loving this....Did not want to spend over $300 on any new tablet. Did alot of research for tablets and my mind was reeling over all the choices. I finally got this and I am SO happy I did.

    it came broken!

    Posted .

My le pan tablet came in the mail after 4 days of waiting for it. When I received my tablet it was not working. I called the manufacture and they couldn't help me, so I took it to best buy to see if the geek squad could fix it...they proved them selves to be useless so I left best buy with my tablet still broken! The next day at work I took the tablet apart it was faulty manufacturing. I fixed the problem my self! Me some one who knows nothing about tablets and now it works just fine. The only problem I have is I wish it had a better spell check. The speakers are awesome when i opened it up they even looked impressive. They are louder then the ones on my old Samsung tablet that was 2 yrs old. One other thing I don't like is that it has no rear facing camera

Great tablet!! you don't need an iPad believe me.

I am going to be very honest with you guys, you don't need to spend over 500dlls to buy an iPad if you can have the same or even better for some featrues with this French tablet called Le Pan in the 200's dlls range. I love Apple products, don't get me wrong, but i felt in love of this new tablet in the first 5 mintues of use. It has its pros and cons as any other product, but more pros than cons; here is a specific review that made up my mind and decided to buy it, hope you find it helpful. http://reviewthetech.com/2011/07/05/le-pan-mode-de-vie-tc970-9-7-android-tablet-review/
