    The Last Texas Chainsaw Movie???

Leatherface is the 8th Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, which is a direct prequel to the original 1974 classic. This movie played for one week at the theaters and went on directly to DVD/Blu-Ray. I read a number of reviews online which all blasted this film in every way. One of the reviews said everything that can be done with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been done after 43 years and 8 movies except a female Leatherface. Well this story focuses on the young Jed as he gets locked in a facility for what The Cook and Hitchiker have done which is murder the sheriff's daughter. Stephen Dorff plays the Sheriff very similar to William Forsythe in The Devil's Rejects, as a vile, mean, angry, vicious man of authority. Years later Jed escapes with a nurse and 3 inmates from the facility. The hunt is on to find them by any means necessary. The 3 inmates don't last long, as the fighting and arguing disrupt their escape. Jed and the nurse are captured by the sheriff until the Sawyer Family arrives and rescues Jed (Leatherface) and reminds him who he is, whose his family, and what he needs to do to protect his family. I won't reveal the end. If this is the last Chainsaw entry, I am more than pleased with this prequel as a final entry. With original director Tobe Hooper having passed away last year in 2017 it would seem this is the final Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.

Highly recommend LEATHERFACE on Lionsgate's Blu-Ray + DIGITAL HD format! The film is done quite well exploring the origin story of the brutal beginning of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE legend. Very well acted and very disturbing at some points, horror fans will undoubtedly be displaying this title on the top shelf of their collections for some time. Visually impressive on Blu-Ray, whether displaying dark shadows or sweaty blood-soaked clothes in the Texas sun...very good eye candy for the audience and plenty of attention to detail as a 70's timepiece. Audio enthusiasts aren't left out either as Lionsgate offers an English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track for this little horror gem, enhancing the movie-watching (or in some cases, enduring..) experience as vocals are clear and on point on my surround sound, and the dreaded effects of a tired rusty chainsaw being resurrected are sure to give quite a few jumps. Yep, make some popcorn..eat some quickly in the beginning if you have a weak stomach...highly recommended!

Leatherface is a decent attempt to weave together perhaps "un-weave-able" elements that have dotted the many previous Texas Chain Saw Massacre films, but that attempt may have simply been a fool's errand (I mean, the guy has a mask and a chainsaw, what more do you really need to know about him?). The film is very strong on style even if substance gets left by the wayside, and so those who are in the sweet spot of the Venn diagram featuring Texas Chain Saw Massacre fans and habitues of Art House fare may well want to check Leatherface out, whatever its inherent deficiencies. Technical merits are strong for those considering a purchase.

I have seen this movie at least 6 times. I was very disappointed with Lions Gate for releasing the movie in a rated R format. I have an all region player so I bought the Unrated Steele-book from Germany. It is the ultimate Chainsaw flick with all the gore intact. I recommend if you have an all region player to get it from Amazon Germany. It is worth it. The story is a prequel that shows how Leatherface became Leatherface. It is wild because the guy you think is Leatherface isn't . You sill see what I mean. The movie was the last movie Tobe Hooper worked on before his death. I really enjoyed this one.

Leatherface's origin story I good on gore, not so good on story. It's a story no one asked for, but I guess every movie, that runs out of sequels has to do a prequel. Unfortunately there is no simpathy for the the characters and the circumstances that lead to him becoming leatherface. If you have to watch it because you are a fan, than do so I did.

This movie is fairly good, but it is not made in America by Americans, and all the sequels, prequels, and restarts are destroying a great series. Hopefully somebody (Americans) will reboot this in TEXAS!!!!! But i will say that this movie is still fairly good and watchable, the main thing that saved this movie is the amazing jobs of Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, and Vanessa Grasse.

This movie is fairly meh. It’s supposed to be a direct sequel to the original 1974. The scares are ok and it’s better than the the last Chainsaw 3D and TCM3. If you’re a fan of the franchise you will probably like it. Otherwise this franchise is pretty fatigued. The transfer and sound and such are all good. Just kind of a pointless sequel.

For what it’s worth I do like the movie. It does have many issues & tons of plot holes that’s should connect it to the main TCM lineage. That being said, if you watch it with complete disregard for what has come before it then you’ll hopefully enjoy it. Try not to think too hard while watching & you’ll be fine.

This prequel shows the early beginnings of a man who really needed someone to help him. When he gets that help, all of it just ends up pushing him over the edge....of sanity. What drives a person to kill all who he comes across? Watch this and all of your questions will be answered.

Well, I should've waited on this one to come on TV but I wanted the whole Texas Chainsaw Massacre collection. This movie isn't good to me. The only thing good about this movie is the picture quality. But I won't complain because there are bad apples in most horror collections and that's true.

I was expecting more, to be honest. Granted there WAS a twist that I didn't see coming but it definitely wasn't the origin story I was hoping for . It was on sale so that's a positive. Not sure if I'll watch it again but I'm keeping it so I'll have all of the films in the series.

I first rented this movie just to watch an origin story on leatherface and the whole texas chainsaw story. I wasn't expecting much cause theres alot of bad origin prequels out there; but I really liked it and bought it. If you have the tcm collection, add this one to it.

Texas could keep going after the surprisingly refreshing Texas Chainsaw 3D. This entry keeps the legend alive but acts like more of a placeholder for a truly classic 9th film, fingers crossed. Great packaging. Ranked best to worst: 2, 7, 1, 3, 5, Leatherface, 4, 6.

Not a bad prequel to a motion picture released decades ago. “Leather face” was well casted & acted. Especially, for a period piece. The actors/actresses captured my attention as the events unfolded that lead up to “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.

This isn’t your traditional Texas Chainsaw film. So don’t go in expecting that. The film does take a different direction. It still is entertaining and still an option to check out. Lily Taylor was great as Verna Sawyer. She is honestly the biggest reason to Che I out the film.

I’ve seen most of the other Leatherface/ Texas chainsaw movies. This film was just all over the place in terms of pacing and the plot. Image quality is great on the blu ray but the movie is a 2/5 for me.

The film spends the entire time making the fan play a guessing game of 'who exactly is leatherface?'. As a fan of the story from the beginning, this is a terrible way for the story to be told. Absolutely not cannon. I do not recommend this film.

Finally... another origin story to erase the mystery of a horror icon. Leatherface is not a great movie but it's also not the worst in the franchise. There is some nice violence and strong performances too. Great direction... worth a look

Leatherface is a prequal to the original film and Texas Chainsaw 3D. It can get pretty graphic at times, but what would you expect from a movie about a killer with a chainsaw.
