This is an excellent film with splendid computer animation and a fine musical score. The characters all look very "Ozzy" and the film includes many elements that come from the original books, such as the Queen of the Fieldmice, the China Country and the China Princess. The meeting with the talking trees is a very nice touch, especially when one tree says that Dorothy stole some apples from a relative of theirs. The Jester is a worthy successor to the Wicked Witch of the West, and Marshall Mallow seems to have come right out of the imagination of L. Frank Baum, who wrote the first Oz book in 1900. "Dorothy's Return" is a modern Oz for all generations, with a sweeping story and top entertainment value. I really wish there could be another "Legends of Oz" film someday.

After seeing many negative reviews from "critics" when this film was released in theaters in May of 2014, it was panned as a box office flop. After watching the film on Blu-ray, I have found it to be a colorful, musical, and easy family film, full of well done musical numbers and great voice performances by Lea Michele, Hugh Dancy and Megan Hilty. The song "Even Then", penned by Bryan Adams is the real jewel here and down the road (perhaps of yellow bricks), I would not be surprised if someone covers this song for radio or one of the many voice talent shows on TV. In short, I agree with those other reviewers who found it to be delightful and moving without too much over-hyped publicity. A cult classic in the making.

Oz is truly a wondrous place with wondrous inhabitants. This particular visit was a fun romp. Martin Short is over-the-top as The Jester/Appraiser. Out of the blue and often my 3-year-old daughter will sing the songs (or her approximation of them), especially "when the world turns upside down". I wouldn't mind seeing more of these exploring new characters and locations.

Dorothy comes back to oz and save her friends from the evil jester in emerald city. It also shows us even a little girl can make a difference I'm people's life. It shows us that even if Dorothy is a girl she stop the jester and saves her friends once again. It even shows that one little girl can stop a vicious criminal from taking away there homes. Dorothy has the power to change everything and so do we. We can make a difference if we all just believe in ourselves and never give up and always believe that there is no place like home.

I thought it was cute. I grew up watching the original Oz movie and for me no other Oz movies come close. But my 5 year daughter loves it and since I bought it for her, her opinion is the only one that matters. Great for young children.

I had originally bought the old wizard of is and the kids enjoyed it so when we bought this for them they really liked it and thought it was better than the old movie. They loved the colors and the songs.

Interesting movie. The story is based off the works of a Baum relative. The music was good and story okay. The animation could have been a bit better.

My daughter, who is 4 years old liked this movie a lot. We went to see this movie at movie theater. So we got this DVD. We want to have sound track if they have one, too.very pretty movie and animation, and music, too. I think boy can watch, too.

My daughter wanted to see this in the movie theater and it wasn't there long, so we ended up buying the movie. She really enjoyed the movie!Q

Movie is entertaining even for younger generations who haven't seen the original. It can be slow in a few parts so 4 not 5 stars.

Purchased this movie for my 4 yr old daughter, its a good movie with some good humor that people of all ages can enjoy

This has to be the best presentation of this classic show for the younger members of the family. With the cartoonist presentation, it takes the scary parts away and makes the show much more enjoyable for them.

Picked up the Bleu - Ray copy of this for my kids ranging in age from 2 to 10. They enjoyed it

One of the best movies for young ladies. All 5 of my granddaughters watch it all the time. Anytime I ask which movie they want it is always "Legends of OZ"
