I've been a long-time buyer and player of the Lego games- in some cases, just for myself, and in other cases, purchasing for the day when I would have my own "mini-me" to play with. Once my son did come along, we've tried various games in the series with varying degrees of success. That changed a couple weeks ago when I grabbed Lego City Undercover. We've been absolutely addicted to this open world Lego game that's offered us around 30 hours of gameplay and only an overall 40% completion so far. Unlike some of their other games, there's tons to do outside of missions, and rather than relying on licensed superheroes, you swap between various "undercover costumes" to gain the abilities you need to accomplish tasks or discover secrets. With no license to adhere to, LCU really opens up, and instead of being a worry for gamers, should be embraced. The humor is perhaps the best its been and the freedom a joy. LCU is, like many of their games, ideal for family play. As standard, there's split screen play, and a real joy has been listening to my 5 year old audibly work out the next steps needed as he works his way through a story mission or puzzle. 90% of the puzzles and challenges have been done perfectly for young gamers, but those 10% that fall outside that zone also vary between "a challenge for youngsters," and "what were they thinking when they designed this in a game geared for kids". Atop that, there are occasional camera issues that can make LCU frustrating for young ones without much gaming experience, and even for those that have been gaming for a long time. But overall, these issues are minimal, and if a parent is playing with their child, that maybe 10% of issues can be worked out easily. This is a wonderful game, one that promotes family play by dishing out fun for gamers new and experienced alike, as well as taking the time to introduce new concepts slowly and gently, teaching some critical thinking skills to the youngsters. An excellent purchase.

This is the best LEGO game. It has a great story, open-world gameplay, humor, and is a great game to play. The graphics are outstanding, and the world fully-developed. Definitely recommend!

    Open-World for the Heroes

Lego City Undercover is a fantastic open-world addition to the Lego Franchise of games. Contrary to popular crime-themed open-world games, this one pins you as a police officer and you get to be the good guy here. The map of the game is huge, and there's plenty to do, similar to other Lego games. There are tons of side missions, collectables, upgrades, and much to explore here. You will easily spend many hours enjoying this game, whether you choose to only play the entertaining story, or choose to go for 100% in-game progress. Speaking of the story, it's a step-up from other Lego games and feels much more like a movie here. It's quite an epic adventure with twists & turns, and there's plenty of comedy to keep you chuckling along while you try to take down the criminals responsible for all your trouble in the game. There's a plethora of options for gameplay types as you can choose the type of character you play as, and the game may require you to progress using specific upgrades and characters. Customization is vast here, as you can choose the types of costumes you want to wear, or create your own as well. Guaranteed you will have plenty of fun and enjoyment with Lego City Undercover. Give it a shot!

    Grand Theft Auto For Kids

This is lego's take on Grand Theft Auto. Your a cop who goes undercover as various people (construction worker, taxi driver, etc) to get the bad guy. Instead of stealing cars, you commandeer them. Then you drive around the city doing missions. This game started out as a Nintendo wii-u exclusive so it is missing some quality of life features that ps4/xb1 Lego games usually have but the downgrades aren't a deal breaker. Its a fun kid friendly game.

First I want to say I am not the type of person who buys a game just because it's been remastered, new, improved, etc... usually because they have changed the game in some way and not for the better. However, with this game Lego has kept true to to the original and enhanced the graffics, improved game play and made it available on every game platform and you know it true to its roots because the games privé on the Wii U is the classic game price where if you want it on another platform it's at the new game price. This isn't a bad thing though, no, you now get the hit classic offered only on the Wii U on any platform...and yes I do own it on both Wii U and PS4 because it's that good.

We purchased this game as a birthday gift for our son, and it has become a household favorite. It has challenges that are easy enough for our four year-old, and other challenges that keep our 10 year-old engaged. We would recommend this game for a family of all ages.

One of if not the best LEGO game

LEGO City Undercover excels because it takes the familiar LEGO game format but has it's own story to tell instead of a heavily truncated and almost nonsensical version of an existing one. The game feels big as well, with an open world as well as the normal set of levels you'd expect. The game now has co-op, which wasn't present in the original WiiU release, but I haven't actually tried it. The levels and puzzles don't feel like co-op is required at all like some of the other games do sometimes. The skills required from different characters are much better organized and telegraphed than any other LEGO game as well.

I missed this when it came to the WiiU. I thought about getting it then but the reviews said the load times were pretty long. Plus it was so expensive on the WiiU. Its an older game but I did not think the load times were that bad on the PS4. No more than any other Lego game. I'm really enjoying the story. I wasn't sure if I'd like it as much as there parodies of movies that they usually do but it been very funny. Another great Lego game. If you like lego games you will like this one

    GTA for Kids

I think GTA for Kids is the best way to describe this game, but it is so much more than that. LEGO has created an amazing world with great voice acting and a good story that is built within a rather amazing open world to be honest. Sometimes this game can be even more enjoyable than the titular Grand Theft Auto. I think this is one of the more interesting LEGO games in that it doesn't have a basis in a licensed franchise, but is instead is novel which is a nice twist. Fans of LEGO games will love this. It's perfect for all ages and especially if you have young children.

A lot of fun. Spoofs just about every cop/criminal drama you can think of. A big world with a lot to find after completing the story. Great for co-op with kids or less-skilled friends.

It's a great game to play with your kids, big open city to run around in, pretty much can go anywhere. Lots of cars and characters too collect. There are some problems though, the loading times are awful, and frequent, especially in story mode, there are still problems with the game camera as well - many times you won't be able to see what you're doing as the camera can't show you what's going on. Still, those are minor niggles to an otherwise great game.

I've played and platinumed every Lego game from Star Wars and Harry Potter all the way through Lego Marvel and this game and it has to be one of the top 3 TT has ever done. The story and characters are the most hilarious since the original Star Wars when the slap-stick was at it's finest. The world hub is massive and one of the most complex and difficult in the series to completely void of hidden goodies. It's also a rather long game for the 100%ers out there, possibly the longest they've ever made. I think I clocked in at around 55-60 hours total with some wasted time here and there. It's one of the few Lego games I feel is truly memorable in the sense that I can recall every single stage and a good part of the story for them even 6 months after I stopped playing. When you've played as many TT games as I have they tend to start blending together but this one stands out strong. Chase McCain is just a great character and I hope we see a sequel soon.

Pretty fun game. This is a remake of an older game but this still has all the fun of a lego game. Has a fairly big map and it will take some time to get 100%. This is good for the very low price.

Great game and my son loves it. Typical Lego style game easy to play and smash everything in sight. Loads of humor for kids and adults. Think of it as a kids version of GTA but Lego style game adventure with all kinds of police themed missions.
